Great food. We popped in here after a night camping at Red Rock. We were starving. I was reluctant simply because there was one like F350 truck parked in the lot. That was it. Didn’t know how the math worked out; was the host also the cook the busboy and the waiter? Whatever, let’s just do it. The bar looks like it’d be a lot of fun on a busy night. Old school-type dark dank bar and bar smell on one side; through which is yer bathrooms. Typical 90’s style diner experience. Very unique though these days. Not yer typical white tablecloth, organic juice and scone type place(although they may have that shit jus didn’t see it on the menu). They had joke books clearly catering towards elderly folk at each table; the jokes were flat enough to give my friends and I a good chuckle anyway. They had an odd politically conservative bend to them but I digress I guess. Took a bit for the combo busboy/host/cook to come out; guy all tatted up, seemed nice. Took our order straight away. I got a big breakfast; eggs, tatoes, orange juice coffee. Doesn’t sound big but it was. It was good. We watched a massive long train slowly pull by the roadhouse; tons of flatbed trailers. The whole city was built around the train depot. Great people. Cool spot. As Donald Trump might say: don’t be a loser and go to that McDonalds up the street; check out Mike’s Roadhouse.

Mike’s has reopened. The pedal cars are gone, but the café staff are kinky and fun. Food was fine for a diner.

This is one of the few places in town to eat, but it is decent, reliable and has a fun atmosphere. The entire place is decorated in pink, and about a hundred vintage pedal cars and pedal airplanes cover the high shelves around the rooms. The food is also reliable, good cafeteria style classic entrees. What a bummer this is closed!!!

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Squaw Valley, I got the french toast they were the best anywhere they had the right amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar they where so good I usually never order French toast but I’m so glad I did. Can’t wait to go back in April on our way to Tahoe.

It’s a diner. Consider the establishment. We stopped on our way back from Bishop. I didn’t want fast food. Mikes Roadhouse is merely a tiny click above that. Would I beg my husband to drive me out in the middle of the Mojave desert on a «date night» to patronize this place again? Probably not. Would i better off stopping somewhere in antelope valley. Yes, our party of 8 was shoved in a corner with 2 booths. The orders ranged anywhere from steak to chef salad. It was all mediocre. It filled your tummy and that’s it. The waitress came by and took our drink orders and 15 mins later the busboy came by and took all 8 of our drink orders again… I told him the waitress took them. And instead of getting them from her, he insisted we give them again. I asked for a «Cab». He gave me a blank stare so i elaborated: «cabernet sauvignon» … He STILL didn’t know what it was and told me he would«sort it out»… Ohmygosh… Maybe i should give 2 stars for that…

I hadn’t been in here in years. They fixed up the outside, but the inside still looks like it did in 1993, the last time I was there. Everything other than the pedal cars is pink and worn. The first time I ate at this location, called«Reno’s» at the time, I was 5 or 6. Wish I hadn’t gone back. The pedal cars are kind of cool. HOWEVER, I’m here for the food. Epic fail. Husband got the special for the evening-beef stroganoff. He got overcooked noodles with tasteless brown gravy and brown meat. He actually asked for a side of sour cream to try to doctor them up. Veggies were way overcooked. I got the french dip. It was tasteless. Kid enjoyed her french toast. So it wasn’t a total loss. The guys in the next booth were jazzed they could get beer.

My wife and I stopped here on the way to Bishop for lunch and it was exactly what we wanted, good food at a good price in a good setting. We weren’t expecting gourmet food or white tablecloth service and atmosphere, we were expecting an American diner and got it. We liked the touch of the funny books at each table to browse through. The ladies working were extremely friendly and provided great service. Will stop here in the future on our way through Mojave, any travelers between Mammoth, Sierras and SoCal I suggest you stop as well – beats the hell out of Carl’s or some other fast food chain.

Been here twice with family — dinner last February and lunch today. I like Mike’s Roadhouse. We had a decent steak, good chicken, homemade soup, tasty vegetables and fresh salad for dinner, and great BBQ, Tuscan Sandwich, great cole slaw, crisp fries and excellent soup for lunch. Place was clean, air-conditioned with comfortable booths; service was friendly and efficient. I sugest giving Mike’s a second look if you’re passing through town — this is a fun American coffee shop & diner. Standard caveat on my reviews — I rate for what a place is, not what it isn’t and Mike’s is rated as a very good, affordable diner — part of a dying breed in corporate America.

If you are into creepy toys. This place is for you. I thought it was pretty rad. However, the food is very mediocre. Not good, not horrible. Makes you poop. It was what I expected. If I was in the area again, I would try something else for food, but come here for a beer.

They are now open under new management. My third time at Mikes Roadhouse and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I had breakfast, bacon and eggs and it was good. And the new owners have been cleaning and upgrading the interior too. Nice place to eat.

Just a short note because of Tony J.‘s review. First off Tony J., why the hell would you order a streak from a place like this? That’s just stupidity on your part. My wife and I have eaten here numerous times. The food is always good, just stick with the basics. Chili Size, breakfast, Chicken sandwiches. Don’t order a steak from a greasy spoon, you’re just asking for crappy food. As for the service, it could be better. But it’s always friendly enough.

Over the years, I have eaten here a few times and the experience has always been pleasant. The food is good, the portions are large and the prices are more than reasonable. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks were always filled. The décor is totally classic American diner and the walls are lined with antique, old-school pedal-cars and some new ones too. The tables are stocked with a few comical books to keep the patrons entertained while waiting for their meal. Whenever I drive through Mojave,(time and hunger permitting) Mike’s Roadhouse is where I will be eating.

We hit Mike’s Roadhouse Café for breakfast whenever we head up to Tehachapi for the day. I would say they are better than Denny’s down the street, and the prices are okay. The food isn’t bad, but it isn’t exceptional either. I usually get the Sunrise Breakfast.

Made the mistake of eating at the Chinese buffet down the street on our way East. Had dinner at Mike’s on the homeward link and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ribs for me and breaded Cod for Sharon. The service was friendly and the food of the«comfort» style. Not elegant nor gourmet, but damned good. We’ll be back.

Not so attractive… well, ok, it’s a dive. I had a kick-ass club sandwich, and pretty good fries. I really enjoyed the meal. My husband LOOOVES their beef stew. He’s on the phone with them NOW, in fact, to see if they’re going to have it when he heads to Mammoth tomorrow.(eye roll) I’d give it a 3.5 to a 3.75 but not as high as a 4 on here. lol But…if you want pretty good food, reasonably priced, and your surroundings don’t matter much… head here.

Better than the Carl’s Jr down the street. It’s pretty clean, at least for Mojave, and they have interest books(random a$$ junk), random puzzles and pedal cars all over. You can also buy stuff in their shop(books, puzzles, candy and cards). The lady, I think she was mexican?, was really nice and friendly. The food, kinda sucksored. Was a lot better than Carl’s Jr, but pretty bland over all. Kinda like a carrows/denny’s. Wasn’t as cool as we hoped, but was interesting. The best tasting thing of everyone was the meatloaf. The steak was meh, chicken ok, mash potatos had 0 flavor of potatos(I MEANZERO!), and the salad was meh.

The collection of pedal cars and cute valentine’s day stuffed animals were impressive. We entertained ourselves with a variety of books targeted towards old people and board games that accessorized the tables. My tuna melt was pretty good and the portions are pretty big.

Well I was hoping this would be one of them cool gems you find out in the middle of know where. However it was not, booo! It’s just about below avg in my book. The food wasn’t the best nor was it the worse. It was edible, i didnt spit it out or puke it out. I had some fried chicken, which wasn’t all too bad, and I also had some friend seafood platter, again not too bad but I’ve had better. I did enjoy the pedal cars, that was interesting. The staff was very very happy go lucky and seemed«warm» and polite. A+ there! I actually hit up there Bar afterwards and hung out there. That was cool. The drinks were rather cheap but after a few drinks I was ready to go else where. over all not avg, not bad. You’ll eat, drink, and survive. no worries!
