We had a TERRIBLE experience. The U-Haul portion closes at 4:00 on Friday, so I left work early to sign out the truck. I waited while the woman talked to her daughter for 10 minutes, even though they both saw me standing there. The trucks are a block and a half way, but the 60-pound appliance dolly was right outside the door and the woman thought I was going to drag it all the way to the truck. She begrudgingly offered to have her husband put it in the truck! The way they pull out credit card authorizations seemed wacky, but I thought I’d wait until the charges actually came out to see what actually was charged. I got a bill by e-mail for $ 168, with all the correct mileage, etc., on Monday, but it took until Thursday for the charges to appear on my bank account… They overbilled me by $ 76.00 because they duplicated the reservation and duplicated the authorizations, then didn’t find the error. I called U-Haul directly and they said it would be «up to three days» for someone to call me. Since the bank account I used was strictly for moving expenses, the extra $ 76.00 overdrew the account and they might not refund until next Tuesday, so my bank is going to charge me overdraft charges UNTIL then! VERY unprofessional. I used Patriot Sales U-Haul in New Lenox before and they were VERY good. This place is fly by night. But now that I see how the U-Haul refund policy works, I’ll try Penske or Ryder for my next move.

We had a great experience. The staff was honest and friendly. The truck we needed to rent was booked the day we went to get it, Barb the staff member told use we could get the truck first thing the next day. She also offered to let us know if the truck became available later in the afternoon. She stuck to her word and did call us that afternoon. The process of renting a truck was easy and smooth!
