Nova 6 Cinemas

Love coming here. Rundown but great prices! $ 6 for movie and small pop and popcorn– how can you beat that? If you like atmosphere, you’ll like Nova 6!

As far as cheap theaters go it’s pretty average. Obviously, I love the cheap price, but the fact the theater reeks of rancid butter and ceilings sometimes appear to be falling apart makes me want to contribute an extra buck for renovations. The bathrooms aren’t the best, but are not the worst either. They are conveniently located by a dollar store *hint hint*, though let’s face it, all theaters have overpriced candy and beverages. — If unsure how well you will enjoy a movie this is a good way to go, but if I had the option I’d probably redbox instead.

It’s a little run down, but what do you expect? It’s 5 bucks for movie, popcorn AND a pop! Great deal! The seats aren’t in the best condition but once the lights go out and the movie starts it’s just like being at any other movie theater. Great place to go if you have kids. It’s fun, cheap, and you get to see your movie on the big screen.

I started laughing when I saw this place and the only reason we came here was the great reviews from everyone. It’s a dive beyond compare. The NOVA 6 sign reads «A 6» at night because the other letters’ don’t illuminate.
Inside you’ll find a run-​down lobby, but it’s way better than the actual theater. Roped-​off seats (broken), holes in the ceiling (leaks) and stains I don’t dare ask about. The projector actually makes that old-​time clicking sound when it runs… and even went into super slow-​mode before dying… and reviving a minute later.
The picture wasn’t steady in the beginning, but did smooth out by the time movie started rolling. The sound is almost bad enough that some conversations in the film were difficult to follow.
There truly isn’t anything good about this place, except the price and for some reason, it feels great to come here. It’s almost like telling «the man» that you’ll stoop to new lows just to enjoy a movie, popcorn and soda for a really, really low price.

I agree with Carrie S — this place is super cheap and you get a movie, popcorn, and pop (pretty sure that is all re-​fillable too). The movies are a little out of date, and of course it isn’t as nice of a theater, but if you don’t care about that then this is the place to go to see a movie under a budget!

I really miss this place! Only $ 5 for a movie, popcorn AND a pop! Where else can you get that! The have great seating too, the seats sort of recline, well, great if you aren’t so tired as to fall asleep in the theater. I would never go anywhere else! My husband and I have gone back to Moline just to check out the theater again.

Sure, everyone who wasn’t too broke to pony up $ 9 for the flick already did, but you can still catch it at Nova for $ 5 with a bag of popcorn and a pop to boot. You’re outsmarted everyone in waiting to watch it on the cheap.
Nova. Hmm. I never knew there was actually a name for this theater. We always knew it as «the cheap theater», or «the $ 5 flick theater», or «the HJ practice theater.» But I’m glad to hear they’re still doing well.
Remember Snakes on a Plane? A friend and I caught it on a weeknight and were the only people here. Fortunately we had a bottle to keep us company. And there you have your 5 stars, children.
