Wharton Field House

This place just bleeds sports. Red Auerbach (Boston Celtics Fame) coached an NBA team in this place 1949 – 1950, The Tri-​City Blackhawks, who moved to Milwaukee and became the Milwaukee Bucks. Babe Ruth played baseball on Browning Field which is right next door to the field house. Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man Randy Savage and numerous other pro wrestlers entertained 7,500 hundred fans here on multiple occasions. That’s not to mention the CBA had a team play on this floor for many years. Also this has been home to Moline High School’s Basketball, Football, Wrestling, and Track teams since the 1920’s. When you walk into this place it takes your breath away like walking into a movie scene from Hoosiers, to walk out on the floor and close your eyes and imagine this arena filled with thousands of fans cheering just unbelievable, it is a must stop for any sports fan going through this area.
