A great diner restaurant any time of day. As a traveling salesman I struggle to find good quality local restaurants so when I do I definitely make an effort to let others know

The food was awful. A side salad was wilted lettuce mix from a bag with one slice of an unripe tomato. The chicken fried chicken was covered in a sausage breakfast gravy. The 10oz sirloin steak was more like a 6oz, thin, flavorless piece of mystery meat. The tea was more like water. When the manager asked how the food was we told him it was bad. Instead of trying to fix the problem, or at least apologizing, he became defensive We explained that there was no flavor to the steak, he said some people don’t like that. Who are these people who like flavorless meat? It tasted like chewy water. He thought it was completely normal to have sausage gravy on chicken. Any other place I order chicken fried chicken it comes with a plain white gravy.

It’s a truck stop. What would you expect? We’ve been here several times but only for breakfast so I can’t speak for anything else. But the food has always been good and the service attentive. Good coffee too. Not much for ambiance, though. It’s a bit on the dirty side but the clientele of truckers and southwest Missouri natives don’t seem to mind. It’s loud. The place has lousy acoustics and diners always seem to be talking at the top of their lungs. It’s cheap. This morning’s breakfast for two was only about 12 bucks plus tip. Not sure why, but we keep coming back.
