We get food from the Grill about once a week. Tonight had the seafood chowder which was excellent and an orange cake with triple sec. Their gumbo and cream of crab soups are also excellent. Crab and turkey sandwich is superb. Always good.

Had a lunch meeting there today and the food was on point, 5 Star! They need some help with getting set up, as far as napkins, forks etc, but that little issue wouldn’t stop me from traveling back! I had the roast beef sandwich and again, one of the best I’ve ever had!

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend. It was pretty busy and it’s a little small inside, so we opted to eat outside in their lil deck area since the weather was nice. Our server was a very sweet and friendly older lady, they had just gotten their lunch rush and she was running herself ragged but had a smile on her face the entire time. We started with six of the Carolina BBQ wings. The BBQ sauce was amazing! I lived in Western NC for quite a few years and that sauce is spot on. Then we got our sammies, I got the Baltimore pit beef sandwich and my boyfriend got the Carolina BBQ pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. For the price these sandwiches are HUGE. The rolls they come on are really, really, really good. Buttery and soft and yum. The pit beef was great, thinly slice and smokey, and there was a ton of it. I had a taste of the pulled pork and it was really tasty! Love that BBQ sauce. All in all, this is a cute family place and I can’t wait to go back to try some more sandwiches!

Awesome place. Great food and excellent Thursday night deal. half off entrees. Charlestown scallops and Cuban panini were terrific. Service was super friendly and speedy as well.

Great place! The food was great, clean dining room and bathrooms. The place looks brand new! I had the Cuban ciabatta and my husband had the«White». Both were so good, we each ate the other half of both sandwiches. Katie took care of our every need without our having to ask for a thing.

Stopped here on our way home from DC. So happy with the place! Clean, friendly, well-priced and good selection of options on the menu. If it weren’t raining, the outdoor seating looked enticing. And home-made food … smoked pork, caesar dressing … so good! This is not your average café.

Have enthusiastically supported this newish local business– but $ 9 for 2 ice cream cones– 1 single scoop and 1 double scoop– is too much in my book!

5th visit so far, each time I have ordered the daily special. Friday 7⁄3 the special was a slice of heaven! Turkey avocado portabello mushroom on a brioche with a goat cheese red pepper spread. The side dish of a roasted corn salad was so delicious that I asked for seconds! The chef brought me seconds on the house. Wonderful country atmosphere with a staff that is warm and friendly.

It was a rainy miserable 4th of July and we were looking for somewhere to eat in the Monkton/Hereford area. We pulled into Monkton Grille and were warmly greeted and helped ourselves to a table. My husband is a lover of wings and their wings were brined and smoked and the meat fell off of the bone. He got the Buffalo style but honestly next time he will try plain so he can enjoy the smoked flavor. I think these wings were so good they didn’t need any sauce! We both got the pulled pork sandwich – out of this world! The service was exceptional and we will be back again.

Went there after doing something fun in Monkton(no, really!). Ordered the pit beef and wife ordered the pulled pork. You know it’s going to be good when you walk in through the back parking lot and can smell the smoke — they do this for real. The food was great. The beef tasted so yummy — cooked perfectly rare. The mac and cheese was a little overly buttery for me but that didn’t stop me from eating it. The pulled pork was also totally worth it. Great flavor. The small ding was for the super slow service although they did give us a little off the bill for making us wait.

I’m very excited to have this in Hereford. We are short on cafes and I’m happy to encourage all attempts. I’m much happier with this iteration of the restaurant. Earlier attempts just didn’t feel like a café, more a pop up shop. I love seeing that they source from local organic suppliers like BaltimOrganic. Roseda, Springfield Farm and Stonemill Bakery. I came for lunch on a beautiful spring day and enjoyed the little back patio. Ordered a salad, which was a touch heavy on the dressing so I would consider asking for it on the side next time. But I also ordered the salad with the chicken topper which is 24 hour brined then smoked chicken. So good! Incredibly tender and flavorful. Happy to see they are open for breakfast at 6:30 weekdays. Breakfast menu looks nice. They have coffee and I really hope they consider offering cappuccinos and lattes. Would love to make this a local favorite. Lunchtime on a Monday was busy, so I’m hopeful!

Third visit, this time the delicious chicken salad sandwich. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. The staff are friendly, and the food is wonderful. Sounds like they’re planning to expand the already impressive menu. Looking forward to the additions!

We finally got the opportunity to try the breakfast sandwiches here since there are no other options near our home in Parkton. We had stopped in two times prior and found the place closed even though the hours said open. The sandwiches we edible but not great. We had bacon egg and cheese and sausage egg and cheese bagels. The bagel was more like bread in the shape of a bagel and was hardly toasted and not buttered. Sausage links were used and rolled right out of the sandwich when I took a bite. I probably won’t try this place again.

I have been here a few times over the past few months. We live about 5 minutes away so why not? We typically go to Graul’s for deli sandwiches but have started trying this place out with good outcomes. While I sort of agree with the one reviewer who noted that she has not received 100% what she ordered on any visit– this has happened to us as well. Today, we stopped for breakfast sandwiches and they must have ran out of sausage patties so they used mini sausages. We found this slight variation to still be delicious and the cook piled on extra portions to compensate as well. I think they are a small(perhaps sole proprietor business) and I don’t think patrons should go in expecting perfection. Their prices are good and the food is delicious albeit simple. I think it’s a nice addition to the area and plan on going back.

This is a local gem and goodness knows, our little Hereford community can use some additional dining places! It is very casual but the food could compete with the best restaurants. The chef is outstanding! The pit beef cheesesteak with a side of potato salad is fantastic.(I’m also a big fan of their tunafish!) And for dessert, there is a little ice cream shop with excellent milkshakes. The wait staff is young and upbeat and they go out of their way to make it a pleasant experience for you. Just fantastic all around for a casual lunch or dinner or just stop in to take the kids for an ice cream!

The Monkton Grille had a great deal of promise — the Hereford area desperately needs a casual dining spot with good food and friendly service. They had a rocky start, with staffing issues, unpredictable hours, and shortage of products. Ever optimistic, my family has given it a try every month or two in hopes that they have gotten it together. Sadly, the Monkton Grille has fallen short of all expectations each time we have dined there. Our final try was this past weekend. At no time has our entire party(2 adults, 2 kids) been served exactly what we’ve ordered. There have ALWAYS been mistakes, omissions, etc. Yesterday, only the toddler ate his meal. Mine was completely wrong(their«signature» pit beef), my daughter’s meal came with toppings we specifically asked not to have, and my husband’s chili was only hot along the edges. Clearly, it had been microwaved. When cheese doesn’t melt into your chili, it’s not hot. Had the waitress/greeter/expo/bus girl(too much for one person) ever come back to the table, we could have addressed the issues and enjoyed a meal together, but she didn’t. Finally, my husband got up and went to her to express our disappointment. In the past, even the grilled cheese was decent — good bread, and a mixture of cheeses. The toddler ate it, but it was cheap bread and yellow American cheese. The liquid butter they grilled it with had an «off» taste. Beyond the problems with food and service, the restaurant is dingy, the bathroom was filthy, and the TV was so loud we had to shout to hear one another. It was playing Food Network, adding insult to injury. We listened to real chefs and watched delicious food being prepared as we sat, hungry and unattended to. Each time, we’ve thought, «That wasn’t so great, but we’ll try again.» Not this time. Never again.

This place is the definition of great local food! I always pass by on my way out to go ride my horse and have been for the past couple years but have never stopped in until today! I was missing some great food! Today I had the roasted turkey and cheese tortellini soup with a side of cornbread(which came in an adorable mini skillet). It was absolutely delicious! The waiter also just offered me a free slice of pumpkin cheesecake! This place is wonderful!!!

After tubing down at gunpowder river we were famished and came here for a quick bite to eat. Great atmosphere with country music and a tv playing. The employees here are very friendly. Me and my friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my other friend the pit beef sandwich. Both were served with good amount of meat on a buttered bun. The pulled pork was fantastic with great cole slaw and BBQ sauce. Got milkshakes to wash it down and was pleasantly surprised to see the small shake seemed a large and was thick with cookies n cream ice cream. Yum! Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The Monkton Grille recently opened, and my knitting group and I decided to check it out as a gang. I believe there were at least 12 of us, possibly more by the end of the night… so we put the stress test on the kitchen. Indoor seating is casual, with several tables available, but our group decided to eat out back as we’d have filled most of their space. It was a great evening, too, when the weather was perfect. That said, the citronella candles set around should have been a clue. :) They’re new and settling into their space, so there were a few missteps, such as the spinach salad without any spinach in it(it was mixed greens instead), and the time it took for some dishes to arrive. I had the smoked turkey, apple, and brie sandwich with cranberry mayo, and it was really good. Another diner pointed out that every single bite of her crab soup had chunks of crab in it, from top to bottom. And onto the dessert! At the back of the restaurant is a patio with a walk-up window that serves generous portions of ice cream from the Prigel Family Creamery, a local dairy. Their ice cream is smooth and delicious! Monkton Grille offers up cones, cups, a variety of shakes, and sundaes. Really a great way to end a nice meal with friends!
