After spending the morning in Portland shopping the plant sale with abandon we decided to head south to the destination nursery that defines the phrase. A bit of a drive from Portland but obviously not enough to keep us plant geeks from making the trip. We drove down from Seattle for the weekend intent on shopping with abandon at the show and other area nurseries. Dancing Oaks was hands down my favorite of the bunch. The climb up out of the valley to the hill top where the nursery sits is breath taking but once you pull in an see the beds you know right away the trip was well worth it. The staff are very knowledgeable an helpful. The plants are well labeled(very important for a place where most of the plants you will find there are unusual), well organized and of good health. The grounds are spectacular with well maintained beds that are filled to the brim(often spilling over) with thoughtful planting a and unique combinations. We were there in the spring(April) and I would love to come back at others times of the year to see how the garden changes throughout the seasons. Bottom line, if you are a plants person or a beginning gardener that wants to developers your garden with more than what you can find at the box stores than you should check this place out!
