Had a nice birthday dinner for my son in law there on June 9, 2016. Seven adults and 2 kids(ages 5, &1). Everyone’s meal was very good. People had lamb, pork chops, shrimp, chicken, salmon, swordfish, and halibut. We also had a hot appetizer plate, and I had bean soup. Service was very good, as were the drinks(although they were out of Greek beer). Only complaint was my portion of halibut was small. All other portions were generous. A very nice meal and a good time!

We enjoy coming here. The Grilled Octopus is amazing! We had Steamers but ththey were regular little neck clams that were steamed. still good but we thought the steamers with the tail. I ordered the Snapper and he ordered Scallops. Sangria tonight for us is white and this place NEVER disappoints! A ++++

What a lovely place. I don’t understand the reviews that weren’t positive. this was my first time here and I was celebrating my birthday! My first time eating Greek food. SOGOOD… and my server Nikkos. was very easy on the eyes. I will definitely come back. I am still tasting my Greek salad and spinach pie from last night, since the left overs were my lunch today. and this is coming from someone who rarely dines out. and I have had bad experiences at the chain restaurants, I love supporting family businesses! The food was amazing. the staff was professional and kind and fun… the atmosphere was casual. a nice fire in the fireplace. we came between lunch and dinner on a Saturday so not too crowded, we didn’t have to wait long for our food. and Nikkos brought me my desert with a lit candle and sang me happy birthday and took a picture with me the place looked clean. A LOVELYEXPERIENCE!

This place has the best grilled octopus that I have ever eaten. It is tender and cooked to perfection drizzled with Greek olive oil and a splash of vinegar. If you like octopus this is the place to have it! The food is delicious but the staff is what really makes this restaurant special. I dined alone but everyone was welcoming and treated me like I was part of a big Greek family! It was so much fun!

Absolutely love this place. Have been going here & taking out(lunch + dinner) consistently for 2 + years. Every dish is authentic and freshly made and the service is friendly and quick. Great lunch specials, healthy portions, and delicious food = best greek food in the greater central NJ area. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, this place was amazing! Service: awesome. Very friendly waitresses, immediately greeted us and always was eager to help and kept us aware of our order. Awesome job ladies! Food: really good, if I’ve had Greek once in Brooklyn at a legit Greek spot, this place was right up their. Save a trip to the city. Price: fair, isn’t over the top expensive but not quick food price by any means. Think $ 9 apps with plates from $ 16 and up. Worth it.

LOVE this place! My bf and I had driven by a bunch of times before finally stopping in about a month ago. We were greeted by the owner as if we were family and served some of the more delicious food I had ever had. We went back last night and somehow the owner remembered us, right down to the drink I had! Things like that really make the experience more than just a meal. The food is amazing. Reasonably priced and with fairly large portions. Service is incredible — friendly and attentive. They know their stuff and you can ask them anything… Atmosphere is cozy and clean. Get the goat special(katsiki horiatiko).

I’ve been meaning to try this place for years and I am so happy we finally did. The inside has a simple causal tavern feel. I ended up having the Yemisto Kotopoulo(stuffed chicken breast) with a side salad. The portions were huge! The chicken was flavorful and different than others I have had before. The salad was a simple greek salad but tasty. My Husband had the Bandit’s Lamb which was good enough for him to continue eating long after he said he was full. This is a place we will be going to on a regular basis from now on.

I really like this restaurant. The ambiance is very nice: the place is spacious, the décor is the oh-so-typical blue and white Greek pattern. The food is just as it should be: all the well-known(American) Greek favorites in large portions. The prices are fair and the service is good. Their octopus is outstanding.

Friends from Florida absolutely loves dining at Taverna Ouzo and requests a dinner there when in town… So reluctantly off we go again. Saturday night and the dining room is rocking with the over 55, painfully Anglo set replete with big costume jewelry, snowbird tans, gaudy floral pattern dresses, shiny slacks, Tommy Bahama rayon shirts, coconut scented SPF52, hair spray and Chanel #5 all competing with the acrid smoke of flaming cheese for dominance in this overheated and over rated senior feed lot … God I hate this place. Table ordered the Gyro platter which consisted of a mound of dried out mystery meat that was obviously cut and stored well before service on a stale grilled pita along side soggy fries sprinkled with some cheese like chunks and what I can only hope is chopped flat leaf parsley with a decent yogurt sauce and a surprisingly bright chopped salad… as usual everything lacks salt and taste. Moussakas, Tiny portion compared to Greek restaurants elsewhere with a cloying Bechemel and day old potatoes in the back ground. Pastitsio, basally Greek mac and cheese with some ground lamb/pork/beef lightly sauteed in a tomato based sauce. Not bad actually but once again very small portions and there is that overly thick and cloying Bechemel sauce again… The Din from the alcohol fueled post Soccer Mom table adjacent was deafening and surprising all at the same time as Taverna Ouzo is notorious for their watered down drinks. Look Folks… If craving that so called«Mediterranean» experience check out Koy in East Brunswick or Le Bebe in South Brunswick… at the very least they both cook with salt.

I have mixed feeling about this place. I liked the food. Recommend is the stuffed chicken and the calamari, hummus, and tzekei play yet was good. I also enjoyed the grilled tomato on my plate. I did not enjoy the mayonnaise sauce that came with the grilled shrimp. All you could taste was mayonnaise. Also, the Greek burger did not come with a bun. It was good, but just an odd platter. The Greek fries were also sub par. It was a bag of frozen fries with cheese and herbs. Nothing special. The service was just ok. We had to ask several times for Splenda and ketchup. I might go back with a group but wouldn’t go back on my own.

Been here about five times and always seem to leave a bit disappointed. Nice place. Staff friendly. I’ve had the Greek salad, dolmas, lemon potatoes, gigante beans, and stuffed tomatoes. The food is tasty but the portions are small relative to the prices they charge. Lemon potatoes are very good, but for five slivers it’s $ 6. It’s barely a potato. Again the beans are very good in a tomato sauce… but $ 9 for beans? So the food is good but I think it’s very overpriced. Normally Greek places hook you up with large portions. Not here.

This place is amazing! The food is all fresh, in house made. It’s got a Greek ambiance, including the selection of music they play. The waitresses and waiters were all well informed when it came to the menu, any questions just ask! I had gone for my birthday dinner with huge family, and all the orders were correct. Not to mention the cheese appetizer we ordered came out and they set it on fire and yelled ompa! I got the salmon and taziki sauce with the lemon potatoes I herd good things about! And it didn’t disappoint! The. Salmon was flaky and perfectly cooked, and the lemon potatoes were amazing! Best restaurant I’ve found close by so far, will defiantly be going back!

Yes. They do it right! The staff is very friendly, extremely attentive and the food and drinks are delicious. We had the hot appetizer platter and everything was good. We had a pitcher of white Sangria and it was the best I’ve ever had. He had a lamb dish and I had snapper-YES! The lamb was tender and nicely seasoned and the fish was cooked perfectly with lemon and garlic. YES! These people know how to run a restaurant. Great food. Great service!
