When Buggyworks first opened it was AWESOME. Food was great, service was great. But the last two times we have been there the service has been awful. Very very slow and burgers were overcooked. They even forgot to charge us for our drinks one time but I made sure to have her correct it as I would have felt bad otherwise. We just went tonight(6÷9÷16) and we waited 30 mins for a burger and an order of the Mac and cheese. Burger was way over done. There were 3 people in the kitchen cooking so I have no idea what took so long, the restaurant was not busy. The waitress was super slow but she was who we also had last time and she was slow then too. I even asked for another root beer but I never got it. There is SO much potential here it hurts. Quicker service and having a burger cooked as ordered would have made this an amazing experience. Unfortunately we are moving out of town on Saturday and I was hoping our last Buggyworks experience would have been better.

Really good Reubens and Burgers. But make sure you order some of their fried cheese curds. Some of the best I have ever had. Prices are fair and the staff has always been courteous whenever we have been there. Although, full disclosure, we go at less busy times.

Service was not so good. Waited a long time for first drinks that sat on the counter for pick up. Never did bring my wife’s drink until really late. Meat and cheese tray good and when it arrived I asked about crackers. They were supposed to come with and after half eaten it finally came and was bread. Was good and made little snacks just didn’t like the wait. The mustard that was with the bread was good. The rest of the story… Meals came. The prime rib ordered was good but not even close to med rare as requested. They completely forgot the«everything» for that meal and because the service was so slow it could not be corrected. In the end, the service was horrible. The food was good and they were very good about prep of gluten free which was required for one person. They did discount the prime rib but not as much as I would’ve expected. Overall turnaround was pry 1 ½ hours — ugh. There you go, my good the bad and the ugly of Buggyworks. We will probably not be back but I’d always encourage others to try because even the best restaurants have a dark day and that’s what we had this visit.

We were on our way home through Monroe and stopped here for dinner based on other reviews. It lived up to them! We ordered the Silver Lewis cheese curds for an appetizer and they were amazing — we order cheese curds pretty much everywhere we go and they are in our top 5. Nice light batter and great dipping sauce. My husband had an old fashioned sour and the waitress did let him know they make their own sour. He thought it was OK, kinda different because there was no carbonation at all. I had the #6 burger which is one of my favorite burgers of all time. Who would have thought cream cheese on a burger would be so good? The carmelized onions and bacon were just the perfect combo. It’s a messy burger but well worth it. My husband ordered the Reuben macaroni and cheese. It was decent, not as great as we’d hoped based on everything else, but decent. We would definitely eat here again when in Monroe.

We arrived late on a Saturday night. It was very crowded and Loud, but we were seated right away. Service was extremely slow. There were some large parties, so maybe the kitchen was backed up a bit, but it took a loooooong time for our beer cheese soup, dinner salad, and veggie burger to get to us. When it did arrive, my black bean burger was a little too well done on the outside, but otherwise all of the food was delicious.

This place gets me. Local cheese, local beer, local soda, local PIE. The cheese curds were mighty delish and I love that they came with a sauce. I ordered the mac & cheese because everyone knows that when in Monroe… get anything with cheese. They made the mac & cheese using grand crew and cheddar cheeses from the Roth Kase and Maple Leaf cheese factories. It was a dangerously delicious combination and my only complaint is that my dish was a tad cooler than it should have been so the cheese wasn’t quite melty/stringy enough(I blame the ones in my party who ordered thick cuts of beef). It’d be great to see some meat producers show up on their list of local vendors, but in the meantime Im going to keep eating this mac & cheese.

Visiting from San Francisco my wife myself and my sister in law decided to give this a try. Great atmosphere wonderful service and the food I really have to say is on par with anything we have back in the Bay Area. My wife had the cod which was lightly battered and fried to perfection still juicy on the inside. It actually was the first time in my week long visit to the state of Wisconsin that I had a salad made with something other than head lettuce. Their dressing along with the feta cheese and cranberries just made for a wonderful spring salad mix. I had the moody blue with bacon burger and it was really one of the best breakfast I’ve ever had. The blue cheese peppered bacon and grilled onions very beautiful talking on a perfectly cooked hand-pressed burger. If you ever find yourself in the real Wisconsin you owe it to yourself to stop in and enjoy a fabulous meal. Well done!

Monroe, Wisconsin is an adorable little town. Much smaller than I’m used to,(Chicago) but adorable nonetheless. And if you like cheese, boy this is the town for you! Also, great beer! Be sure to enjoy some fantastic local brews. Now here’s the sticky spot, salads. I travel for work often, so I find myself eating on the road a majority of the time. I try to keep it healthy and eat as many fruits and vegetables as I can. Ok, enough with the back story! The best salad in Monroe Wisconsin can be found at Buggy Works! I have been here over a month on business, and hit just about every restaurant in town. Buggy Works had my favorite salad by far. Crisp mixed greens, dried cranberries, feta cheese, red onions, candied walnuts, a chicken breast and a dee-licious balsamic dressing! It was so tasty, I’ve stopped by there three times already! The rest of the menu looks fantastic as well, and I hear they have some killer burgers. But I tend to stick with a good thing. And this salad(I think it’s called the Fitzgibbon?) is a GOOD thing. Just look at the picture if you don’t believe me. So if you had your fill of meat and cheese in Monroe Wisconsin, stop by the buggy works for an absolutely top-notch salad. You’ll be glad you did.

We enjoy this restaurant located one block East of Monroes’s square in the Fitzgibbon building. It has an open atmosphere nice bar and very pleasant staff. They are willing to give you samples of some of the selections. We highly recommend this restaurant for an informal lunch or dinner. I would think this would be at the top of everyone’s list for a business luncheon

We have eaten here twice — both on Friday nights. As a vegetarian, I am grateful for the black bean burger. They were pretty busy both times with Friday Fish Fry service. Unfortunately they fry the cheese curds in the same oil as the fish, which made the curds inedible to me.

Really good food. We’ve been to Buggyworks several times for lunch. Tasty food and good service. The cheese soup is super rich and seasoned well. Like a «fondue soup». I have not been disappointed. I also like the open kitchen format.

Very cool place just one street east of the square. Late lunch on a Saturday was busy. All the food looked and smelled amazing., especially the burgers. Bloody Mary’s were great. Tried the two lunch specials Battered Cod and Buffalo Chicken Tenders. Both were great but the cod was superb, really crispy and flavorful. Dipping sauce served with the fries was heaven. Split a brownie crusted cheesecake dessert and finished up with Irish coffee. Perfect meal, will be back soon!

This is by far the best place to eat in Monroe. I’ve been here on 3 different occasions, had something different each time, and it has always been spot on. I usually don’t give much thought to salads but their fitzgibbons salad is the best salad ever… No joke. Their green beans are fresh and perfectly seasoned. They’re also one of the few places I’ve been to that know how to cook salmon properly. The quality of both their food and service is excellent.

My wife, daughter and I had a late lunch at Buggy Works this afternoon. My wife had eaten here before — which is lucky because if you’re looking for a restaurant on the square in Monroe, you won’t find Buggy Works(it’s a block east of the square on 18th avenue, inside the Fitzgibbons Building). We sat down at 2:35p — the place was empty. and i mean empty. What was cool was we had a chance to speak the owners who are both incredibly nice people who care about the food they serve. As for the food, I’m hanging in with my new year’s resolution to lose 30lbs — so i’m no carbing. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and asked Chris(the owner) if my wife could have my bread). Well, he grilled the bread for her and gave me extra meat. The pulled pork was just OK but I ordered it plain(no carbs). Had I had it as a sandwich(with slaw bread and the toppings), I’m guessing just OK would move to outstanding(my wife said the bread was obviously freshly made and very good). My wife had the soup of the day — a minestrone. The soup is made fresh daily and is wonderful. Great flavor. Everything home made and just really tasty.(a big bowl of soup btw.) The other soup of the day was a beer/cheese soup. Flavors in beer/cheese soup really run the gamut so I asked to taste it. Chris brought out the sample. It was made with potatoes so I could not order a bowl. But i did have four spoonfuls(and gave the remainder to my wife). We both agreed that it just might be the best beer soup we’ve ever tasted. Not over-beery — and not thick like most beer/cheese soups are made. Great buttery flavor with just enough beer tang and just enough cheese. My daughter had the small fitzgibbons mixed green salad. The small salad was pretty darn big and featured generous amounts of dried cranberries, candied walnuts and feta. It got a thumbs up from the vegetarian among us. While we ate, several other people arrived. One table ordered cheese curds. My wife commented something or another about how it’s tough to get good fried cheese curds. The owner must’ve overheard us as he brought out a curd for each of us at the table to try. they were outstanding! light beer batter with just enough beer flavor as to not be overwhelming. Plus, the coating was light, allowing you to taste both the cheese and the coating. Chris(the owner) said they use the same batter for their fish fry on friday night’s(which is apparently very busy but you can make reservations). When I lose my weight, I’ll be there! On a previous trip my wife ordered their bean burger and said it was very good. The owners are both Monroe natives. Chris, the one with whom we chatted has been a chef for 20 years. He told us his dream was to have his own restaurant. You can tell he’s well trained in both the cooking side(everything made fresh and prepared well) and the PR side. He’s very gregarious(as is the co-owner whose name I think is Jeff). Soup, salad, pulled pork(with a pickle and chips) and a diet coke came to $ 19.72. A steal! With so many ordinary or less-than-ordinary restaurants out there, it’s a very pleasant surprise to find a place where the owners give a damn and make everything fresh. We’ve already told friends and will definitely be back. Great place.

I came here a week after it opened. Things went… less well than hoped. However, we were informed that we had come at the first big rush they had ever experienced and the manager was incredibly professional in dealing with the issue. BuggyWorks has a lot of potential and the past couple times I went there, everything was excellent. The staff is well-trained and as I said before, the manager runs a tight ship. You know a restaurant is going to do well if the people running the show are serious about what they do. Now, food: The cheese curds are to die for. A+mazing! The first time I had the food, it had been a disaster. But a friend and I went for the Mac and Cheese during Cheese Days and it was so good. Their burgers are huge and tasty, too. Really good beer selection, which is always a plus. Whenever I have friends or relatives in town, BuggyWorks is definitely at the top of my list for restaurants/bars to hit.

Today was my first time visiting Buggyworks. We had the pork chimichangas and were extremely pleased. This is is a great new place for lunch or dinner. Everything from a friendly and helpful(but not intrusive) staff to a great tasting meal was spot on. The owner, Jeff, stopped by our table to make sure everything was ok. We will definitely be telling our friends about this great find and will head back again soon. Keep up the great job!
