Not very clean and a weird building. Food was pretty good though. Nothing special overall.

Monroe, WI is a badass, underrated little town in the southwest part of Wisconsin. My travelling colleagues & I happened upon it after our pilgrimage to the New Glarus brewery. Seeing how we were given free beer vouchers from New Glarus for a number of local restaurants/bars for a pint of Spotted Cow, we randomly picked Suisse Haus, since it was on our way back to Chicago. Bet you can’t find a place that epitomizes Wisconsin more finely than this establishment. Old-school, woodsy bar, every Wisconsin beer you could possibly want on tap or in a bottle, friendly service, reasonable prices, football on all tvs, and huge portions of greasy food! The free beer, coupled with my favorite little Rhinelander beer bottles for a $, made this a great Wisconsin drinking experience as I was not the DD! Next time we’re at New Glarus, we will surely be back for our free pint, more beer, delicious burgers, curds, & fries, and most likely the beer tour across the street that we didn’t have time for!

Food is decent bar food. Service was great and the bathrooms were incredibly clean. This is important to me right now because I just got done camping at «rustic» new glarus woods. Five stars just for the bathrooms.

The atmosphere and food was delicious for all my senses. I only wish our server also did her job between eating and texting. I had to get my own refills, silverware, and watch her ignore her tables while she ate with her back to us all and ATE. I have to say the sweet bartender totally saved my night. She was so nice and helpful. I left her the tip.

They try to charge you more for drinks than what you order. This has happened time and time again, so make sure to remember what you order as they try to stiff you. The place smells like urine in the summer, not sure what that is all about. Pricey for what you get. Won’t go back.

We stopped by at the Suisse House during a trip to Monroe. We had a good lunch for the most part. We were first happy to see such a unique restaurant but to our surprise inside it was just a simple rustic american diner-esque place. We weren’t disappointed though. Their cheese curds are very good and their pizza is even better. The staff is friendly as well. This is a very nice place to stop in for a good low priced lunch.

Hands down great food and service. Jalapeño poppers have some bite, my turkey sandwich as well as my husbands Reuben were awesome! Great staff and great selection of beer!

I’ve been here twice since I’ve moved in. It’s a nice, little place. The burgers are greasy, but cooked fresh behind the bar. The last time I was here, I had the Reuben sandwich. It was a little fatty, but otherwise, pretty good. The environment is a mix of families, young folks, and rip-roaring drunk elderly. Altogether, it’s a good spot to grab a beer and a bite to eat.

Bacon cheeseburger dry and flavorless. Liver sausage sandwich and service was great.

Good food and friendly service! I tried a hamburger it was fresh and flavorfull! Frenchfries were hot and fresh! Ended up having a desert cheesecake with berries… good stuff! They also offer a full bar and a large selection of food and lots of fried bar stuff. Family frendly or bring a large group for a great time!

The food at Suisse House is pretty good. Love the patty melt and the homemade pickles. Pizza is pretty good. It is better to order carry out or delivery because on several occasions when we have eaten in, the service has been slow and inconsistent.

Great burgers! Good fish on fridays! Always have great service. Sitting outside in the summer is also nice. Clean and taken care of. It is one of those places that has history. But that is what makes it a great atmosphere.

A nice little bar and grill in a nice little town. It was the first place the employees at Minhas suggested, so we strolled the single block down 12th and took a seat at the bar. Suisse Haus, much like many of the businesses in the area, looks like an adorable Swiss ski chalet. Inside, it’s not as fancy. There’s a huge bar when you enter and the back wall is covered with booze bottles and candies for sale. The rest of the dining areas appeared to have moveable tables and were decorated with beer signage. The patio area, however, looks as though it would be extremely welcoming when the weather is nicer. My friend and I both ordered the Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich. She went with a side of Fries and I got the Fried Cheese Curds. Everything is a la carte. Neither side really did it for me. I’d skip adding them on next time or maybe just go for a half order of the Fries. The Corned Beef, on the other hand, great! That recommendation did not disappoint. I rounded up slightly on the tip, so it came to $ 20 for the Reuben, Curds, and a bottle of Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider. You can easily get away with spending even less if you take advantage of their draught selection.

8÷9÷13 Much of downtown Monroe appears to shut down about 9pm even on a Friday night. There were a few options available for a late dinner and this seemed to be one of the better ones, but it’s not. The menu didn’t indicate my chicken would be breaded and deep fried for my wrap. I thought it’d be a sliced chicken breast prepared on their flat grill. My wife’s steak sandwich was sent back. She said it was fatty. It was replaced by an individual veggie pizza. All the veggies came from a can. We won’t be back. :-(

Suisse Haus is cute on the inside. Old and swiss feeling. Food is alright. The burgers are good, but I’ve been served brown salad before, too. Pizza is pricey but good. Service is rough. I was here on Cheese days 2012, I know they were busy(understatement), but the waitress walked by about 8 times in a little over 10 minutes and didn’t even acknowledge our presence or give menus. We ended up leaving, and we are pretty patient folks. During our visit last week, our waitress didn’t smile once. Nuts! I would recommend this restaurant, even though nothing is great, it’s still one of the better restaurants in Monroe. If you are visiting, you should come here, it’s an experience.

Stumbled in after hanging in the back woods with some hunting buddies. Has a friendly feel and the service was very good. As fan of Friday fish fries I was impressed. Beer batter cod, well seasoned fries, bread and coleslaw. Cod was fried to a nice golden brown and was of good quality. Not mency at all. A bit pricey for 5 pieces, but you pay for quality. Nice tall glass of fresh(as the New Glarius brewery is just down road), ice cold Spotted Cow for the washed and a good meal was completed.

On a recent trip my husband and I went here twice(a real rarity) once for a late supper after a show at the Monroe Performing Arts Center and once for an early lunch. We enjoyed a reuben, Margurita pizza, the Suisse House special pizza and New Glarus beers. They were all top notch. Service was good. It was some of the best pizza I’ve had in a bar and grill setting, probably because of the use of local cheese
