Ok, you eat out right? Chances are excellent you’ve already enjoyed something that GFS provides to your favorite place. This is the same stuff the big truck drops off at the back door of your diner. Only now you can cut out the middleman and take it home and do it yourself. Clean, friendly, free coffee to enjoy and an excellent selection to choose from. Here’s some of your best bets… The breaded cod… puts anything else you’ll find in your regular market to shame. The taco filling… everybody loves it and there’s enough to go around. The BBQ sauce in the big bottle, house brand… comparable to name brands. The frozen beef patties… perfect and three sizes to choose from. The down side? Two things… you’re buying quantity here so expect to pay accordingly. You aren’t buying a pound of meat and an eight ounce can of beans. You’re buying several pounds of meat and a couple of pounds of canned beans. You also need to make sure you have the space to store the stuff at home. No freezer? You’ve got a problem friend. Overall, if you shop wisely, you will save money. Just watch the prices closely, soda you can get cheaper almost anywhere else in the world and the same goes for snacky type things. Oh, check the clearance racks. You wouldn’t believe the price I recently paid for an 800 count box of Equal sweetener, seriously cheap.

GFS: Think big! This is our big summertime outdoor party base camp. Plates /cups /tableware. Chips(their pretzels are the best) and drinks. Veggies… large quantities Halloween? Oh yes, it’s the one stop. Although their Coke and other pop doesn’t seem to be any cheaper, they have lots of bottled water and it is priced lower than most. Bar-B-Que sauce is terrific and a fraction of the cost of anywhere else. It’s not a big store, once you get your bearings you’re in and out in less time it takes to wind your way up the driveway. Oh yes — no membership! This is my family’s big box store!

I recently visited GFS Marketplace for the second time before hosting a large, 30 guest party at my house. I highly recommend shopping at GFS before hosting such large events or if you have a family of 8 or more people… There are several differences between Sam’s Club/Costco and GFS. GFS does not require any sort of annual membership, which is nice. However, the store is only the size of a drug store and has a very limited selection of primarily generic items. Though Sam’s Club and Costco sell large quantities of products, they often bundle several of a normal sized product so that you can keep the other items fresh(think peanut butter, cereal, brownie mix, etc). However, from what I’ve seen, GFS only sells items in massive containers and quantities, not separated out into small portions. Because of this, shopping at GFS for a small family is nearly impossible. The items sold at GFS are also more restaurant, event, and party focused than their competitors Sam’s Club and Costco.

GFS Marketplace is similar to Sam’s Club. The main difference between the two is that GFS just sales bulk food and is free to shop at verses Sam’s which is $ 40 a year. Right now GFS is only on the east coast but, they are expanding west. This location is in Monroeville next to Kohl’s and across the street from Monroeville Dodge and Sam’s. They offer every type of food product in bulk you could think of. Meats, seafood, produce, snacks, stuff for fundraising, desserts etc. Some things are cheaper than Sam’s. And some aren’t but, they are defiantly worth checking out.
