I’m not a first-timer to mammography. What I am is an informed customer and I do expect first-class customer service. It’s not difficult; I’ve had such service elsewhere outside the state of PA before moving here. So, to move here and here all the hoopla between UPMC and Highmark, one gets the impression all parties would bend over backwards because, ya know, they think they’re the best. I can guarantee you that this facility is nowhere near the best. You know why? Let me tell. 1) Waiting room wait is not bad but the reason why? When they call your name, they don’t just call your name, they call another, as well. That’s right. It’s «Come on Down»! For the sake of efficiency, I suppose, two of us were called by name, handed the obligatory robes, pointed to our dressing areas, given our verbal instructions how to put them on, asked if we needed to remove any deodorants and shown the waiting area. Wow! First, I don’t think HIPPA is in play here with this procedure and 2) oh, nevermind if I have to explain why I’m offended by the cattle call. 2) While undressing and trying to put on the robe per instructions, I noticed there was only one tie instead of two(in other words, this wasn’t gonna work for me or anyone else). I proceeded to walk out half-dressed looking for a «dressing room attendant». I found one. Her response in a sweet tone was«Oh, did you get ONEOFTHOSE?». Wha??? She just acknowledged that this is a recurrence? She handed me a new gown after checking for wardrobe malfunctions and I told her I was going to watch as she disposed of malfunctioning robe and I did and she did. 3) Technician running the mammo machine was curt, efficient, that’s the sum of it. No small talk, no «hi, how are ya?», not sure she even looked me in the eye. Like I said, it’s not my first mammogram rodeo, but humans can be, well, humans toward one another. There really is no law against it even in the name of efficiency. So, bottom line, I have a re-do coming up and I definitely scheduled it for a different facility, meaning a non-UPMC facility. Not setting foot in here again. Oh, there was one plus: I got an online survey I got to fill out. Yeah, that was worth it. P. S. An update to this review: I had to have another mammogram, a diagnostic one, after the one at this facility. Because of my negative experience here, I decided to check out Excela and chose their Excela Square at Norton facility in Irwin. Check out that review for my completely opposite and totally positive experience.
