The new Amazing Savings where the old Pathmark was in Monsey is your one stop shopping for just about anything! If you are having a party they have EVERYTHING you need as far as paper wear etc at great prices. They even have small plates, dishes etc for tastings. When I am entertaining or giving a party Amazing Savings is the first place I go.

I needed luggage for an upcoming trip. I check out first Michaels in the Spring Valley Market Place mall(next to Target). Michaels has a very nice selection and discounted prices on brand name luggage and they are a great store. However, Amazing Savings had very similar stuff for HALF the price! We got two 42 inch suitcases for $ 39.00 each and a carry on for less than $ 25.00. They were not a brand name luggage set, but they were of high quality at a very good price. I also like the wide clean aisle and the entire store is very brightly lit.

I MADEOUTLIKE A BANDIT!!! Giving two kids — 9 and 11 y ears old — a $ 20 budget for Christmas/Hanuka shopping made me tense given that we were headed to Walmart… However little 9 year old princess convinced her brother and myself that this store was the place… We relented to her. Alas I havent been in that area much, but I do know that Spring Valley had an itsy bitsy AS. Not anymore people! Apparently they are in place of the huge PathMark that used to be there. Although the«local“s are nosy and pushy(sorry, i speak the truth) the kids heaped up gifts that were really smart and fun. My little princess had to have her«maybe» pile and the little guy was pensive adding numbers and choosing wisely. It did take a while, but I’ll tell ya — what a huge selection. We walked out with so much stuff, from make your own jewelry box, hello kitty teddy that opened to a blanket, basketball, school lunch bag with a cool key chain, pens, lip gloss that I am highly considering next years budget to be $ 10… Great bang for your buck.

I venture into Amazing Savings every few weeks and half of the time I walk out without making a purchase. They have many items there, some of them cheesy and some of them well made. You can buy a good toy there for a reasonable price, although they do not have a talking giraffe.(Their mascot is a singing, dancing gefilte fish named Moe who sings Bee Gees style songs in Yiddish) Their prices are definitely reasonable on most items. They have a great selection of party goods. My daughter likes their scrapbooking items, which are very, very cheap. Stay away from the candy as it appears to be old. I once bought Snickers that were wrapped in Christmas colors and they were rock hard. I guess that’s what you get for buying Christmas candy in the summer. They have an excellent selection of children’s books which are priced very reasonably. My favorite is Winnie the Pooh and the Fakakta Day. The cashiers are pretty impersonal. There isn’t much help in the aisles. It’s pretty bare bones. Definitely go to Amazing Savings. You will definitely find bargains. There is a nice selection of items there. Mazel Tov!

Many years ago I have visited other locations, however until recently I had never shopped at the Monsey location. Amazing Savings is very similar to most other discount stores you will see, however they also carry Jewish related stuff. It was so great to be walking down the aisle and seeing old picture frames and that sort of stuff and then Challah covers. It was a really funny experience. They also are great for getting disposable kitchenware because they are very common to find in a kosher kitchen. I was able to pick up all sorts of different size disposable pans, plates, forks, and all of the sort for very cheap. The one annoying thing is we walked in on a Sunday at about 6:30 and they immediately were making announcements that the store was closing in 10 minutes(although it was actually 30 minutes). They seemed to be making these announcements every couple of minutes and were looking up and down the aisle a lot to see who was still in the store. I understand the not wanting to stay really late and get out of there, but you don’t want to make the costumers feel like you are rushing them. It really didn’t make for a pleasant shopping expierence since I didn’t realy get to look around too much. I guess next time I will need to make sure I am ther by 3pm so I don’t have to feel so rushed.
