The Point Bar & Grill

This place is the closest to my hotel with pretty good reviews. Not being too hungry or having too many dining options on a Monday off season, I came here. I ordered the Southwestern Salad. The fried chicken was great. The salad was good, just too much cheese and not nearly enough greens. Otherwise good place and vibe.

Off season this place is great, No better spot and in some cases (Nothing else open) to watch sports and to get way better then you would expect food from a bar. I have called in orders to pick up as well as come to sit at the Bar to Watch Islanders, Rangers and Mets games. Tons of TV’s and they put the sound on for Big games. A good Beer selection not your typical Domestic Imports. Food came out fast and the Bartenders were really on the ball. I have not sat at a table but they seemed to be attentive there as well.
As far as in the Summer season at night I avoid this place as it gets way too packed and unless you want to pay to Stand in a pack and Struggle to get a beer. The crowd is young and much hipper then me. You could probably go early in the night but as it gets later I tend to stay away. If I was still in my twenties and not married I would probably go just to try to get laid but other then that I wouldn’t find it an enjoyable place.

Like this place more each time I go. I’ve only sat at the bar, so I can’t comment on table service which some reviewers seem to have had a problem with. The bartenders are all capable and seem to handle a busy bar well, I rarely have to wait long for a drink. The food is better than average pub grub, and the prices are very reasonable especially in light of the fact that every other place in Montauk’s prices are RIDICULOUS! And $ 3.00 Bloody Mary’s on Sundays. Can’t beat that.
I remember when Shagwong’s used to be the place to go in Mtk. It was always packed and had a cool kind of divey vibe to it. Now it’s just a dive and I will never spend another penny in there as long as I live. As far as I’m concerned The Point is the new place to be. If only it were a little bit dive’ier…
Also noticed another reviewer favourably singled out a bartender named Kate. I would like to second that. Very friendly and efficient and when I left my credit card there, she sent it to me in the mail. Thanks!

Terrible dinner service, wait staff completely neglects patrons… Locals included. Not a good look! It’s still nice to find a true sports bar feel in Montauk. Decent sized bar area with tons of TV’s. If you’re looking for reasonably priced apps and drinks to enjoy the game with, great spot. If you’re looking for a nice family meal with an attentive waiter, you’ll want to pass on The Point.

Dirty place where servers give you attitude.
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, it is filthy and had bugs on the table. The service is horrible to say the least. We waited for 10mins to be seated when half of the place was empty. Didn’t get a server to attend us for next 15mins. We had to ask one of the servers to give us menus and attend us. He bailed and finally someone else showed up. Never going back here again.

Came here late on a Saturday night and it was packed beyond belief. Don’t wear anything nice here … it is really crowded, the ‘people will get their sweat on you’ crowded. We paid a $ 10 cover and ordered many drinks. Music was okay. There is an outside area that I think is basically a fenced in drive way. I am divided on my feelings about The Point … I had a fun time, but if this bar were in my hood, I am not sure I would go because it is a dive bar and could be a little cleaner.

Great food, Excellent friendly service, reasonably priced, delicious deserts. Acceptable wait time. I have been to this restaurant several times and love it. for the price you pay here you can’t get much better than this. compared to all the bar-​restaurants in Montauk this one is my fav because of all the above factors.

Every year since 1998 my family has made the annual August sojourn to Montauk. As I recall the Point opened in 2000. This is your quintessential ‘saloon’ and I use this term with reverence. This place is for the real pub goer. The staff is nice. I missed my friend Matt at the bar, but this week we met Dom and Brendan who are very cool. The food is good. I liked the Chili and the Point Burger. Our server, Kate was very kind and helpful. This establishment is open for lunch and dinner. It is terrific for watching sporting events and for hanging out til the wee small hours. The Point really packs em in late at night.
There is a reason why we go the Point every August, it is a real working person’s place amid all the ‘laddy da’ of the East End. The management, staff and customers are great and the atmosphere is fine. If you are in Montauk on vacation stop by, you will not be disappointed! Like me, you’ll return back every time you visit the area. gk

I have never been to a worse establishment. I come to montauk often and there are so many amazing places. surf lodge. Memory. Sloppy. Cyril’s. We love this town.
Never go to the point. I have hated this place ever since I started coming out here. Tonight I finished my view. They take a zillion years to serve drinks. It’s so expensive. The people were bad. I don’t know how to communicate what a bad time we had, outside of we walked across to memory motel had the best night ever.
Worth the extra $ 2. Go to memory.

Was waited on by a woman named Raquel who was absolutely awful. We specifically asked her if they had kid’s mac & cheese, she said yes and then brought over a plate full of capellini topped with butter.
She never came to refill our waters, never came to even ask how we were doing and was just basically terrible all around. The highlight was the guy who brought us our dessert and literally, yes LITERALLY threw some napkins on the table.
The food was actually pretty decent but the service will keep me away for good. I suggest others do the same.

If you guys want to try a real fish and chips, this is the place!

Good spot to watch a game. They serve your typical pub food but it’s good, I have no complaints. cold beers and good drinks. One of the male bartenders there is a miserable douche that lacks people skills.

Cool, unpretentious sports bar in a good location. We were referred here by a local after some other restaurants were overcrowded. Food is decent but I’d probably only come back to drink. Good service, good beer selection and lots of TVs to watch games.

2. They said there is no manager on staff today
3. Wait staff is nasty and rude and no Manners
4. They didn’t even clean up our appetizer plates. Then when the Waiter came I helped him clean up the plates and table.
5. I had to ask for water several times and still waiting for it.
6. They told us to wait for our table and wound up putting another group in our place.
7. Told us that is if we were nice they be more helpful what does that mean Because you said that YOU were going to move us to another table.
8. Rushed us to end our meal
9. The wait staff is walking around and each staff is giving us looks of when we are leaving
10z. Slammed our meals in our table and and my burger was burnt
11. Their hostess is 15 what does a 15 year old know about seating tables
12. After the comment out waitress never came back and other service staff had to come back and clean our plates and ask how our meal is.
13. Other people by us are getting water and their glasses refilled and I am never got my first after asking again
14. Never asked how our meal was and how things are
15. Drop the bill and leaves
16 still never got my water
17. Then i get the attitudes saying I am nasty when you put your hand in my face when i ask you why you put in automatic gratuity and it isn’t stated in the menu.
18. Did I tell you I still waiting for my water.
As a customer and when the hostess says they will move me then place another family is wrong.
Don’t give me tr excuse that you automatically charge for gratuity for parties of 6 including children when it is not stated on the menu or window of the restaurant.
Do not tell me that you have never had difficult when I ask you a question of why and where it is stated. If you show me I will believe you and then as you speak with me your hand is on my face and raising your voice to brjng attention to our table

Sports bars are my thing. I like Wings and Sports. Especially the MLB and NBA.
Today, I went to see an NFL game. Jets at Steelers on CBS. Had some great wings. Even great sports like football. LET’S GO JETS!

Very low-​key, dive bar type of place, which I love. Bartenders were cool and down to earth. Crowd seemed good except for two gross people who were aggressively making out at the bar. I don’t think they realized how disgusting they looked/​how uncomfortable they made everyone in the bar feel. Nasty, bro.
Anyway, we didn’t eat here. Drink selection was quite good. We’ll be back at some point, I’m sure.

Had lunch and some beer here a few times, the service was pleasent and attentive. The beers were good, as were the mix drink specials. The food was good, nothing crazy, but good.
