If I allowed my daughter, she would live solely on Gina’s multigrain bread. Killer scones and sweet treats. Just ordered pies for holidays. Will report back … Good service. They get a little slammed on weekends.

Pricey, but bakery is great. Things I love, ham & cheese croissant, spinach &a feta croissant, croissants, Baget, cinnamon swirl coffee cake — all awesome! I get this all at Jersey City farmers market Sunday morning in the heights.

I made a batch of chicken salad and I needed some really good bread to do it justice. I went to Gina’s for the first time and bought a loaf of her multigrain bread-it was outstanding! The sandwiches made with this bread and Jersey tomatoes were to die for.

I’ll be brief. I’m sitting outside on this crisp Fall-like morning drinking their delicious coffee and having a nibble of all my baked treasures. Ham and cheese croissant toasted in their oven is a DELIGHTFULBREAKFAST Brioche donut is fluffy heaven. Blueberry scone is just the right amount of crunch and full of blueberries. No sheetrock-like scones here! Pecan cranberry muffin has a toasted nutty flavor with the tangy cranberries and gently sweetened bread. The brioche cinnamon roll with raisins. What can I say. I want to roll around in a swimming pool of these. Fluffy and delicious. My first time here, but not my last. Next time I’ll try the key lime pie!

Don’t shop in this store, they are thieves. Went to there truck at the market in the heights and they charged me $ 10 for a very small box of cookies. My fault that I didn’t ask but in the end 10 dollars isn’t important. I went back to ask if it was normal and the owner said: it is 20 dollars a pound because it’s European butter something like that. Too bad I have a scale so when I weighed those cookies, they weren’t even close to a pound. This is called: cheat and steal from your customers. I wish I could give this people zero star.

Those five stars are for the blueberry pie, the only thing I’ve ever eaten there. My girlfriend invited me to her home after a girls night out for a slice of organic blueberry pie. She was more than a little annoyed that her husband paid the astronomical price of $ 20 for an organic blueberry pie and wanted to get rid of it. I mentioned having recently bought a berry pie from Whole Foods for the sale price of $ 6.99. I could not understand what would compel anyone to buy a $ 20 fruit pie. Then I tasted my first bite. Dear God. That is not a pie. It is a homage to wild blueberries. It is a burst of ridiculous, crazy flavor on your tongue. Engulfed in a perfect flaky crust. A symphony of wild bings flirting with your tastebuds. «Where did Sam get this pie?» I demanded to know. This was NOT your Whole Foods pie. It’s nothing like any fresh berry pie I’ve ever tasted. And I am not a fan of blueberry pie. Do not think about buying the blueberry pie from Gina’s Bakery. Buy it! Take it home. Share it with your neighbors and friends. Or just eat that whole damn pie by yourself. You won’t regret it.

First time I went I was a little taken back by how much I spent on a chocolate cake 30.00! But it looked delicious!

Located near a gym I used to attend in the area. Way too often I would find myself indulging in an assortment of sweets right after an intense workout. Well worth it though. They have a good selection of pastries. I sampled many of them — my favorites being the chocolate-dipped macaroons and the bavarian cream brioche. I enjoy the blueberry muffins and chocolate croissants as well. I have yet to try their pies but will definitely get to it eventually. The coffee is less than stellar imo, but fortunately Montclair has other places for that.

After many visits to Gina’s I’ll break this review into 3 mini ones: BREAD: — Tried the Rasin Walnut — no longer buying Whole Foods one, far superior with better crust. Perfect for toasting and putting on butter or cream cheese. — multi grain — a solid pick, probably the first bread to try PASTRIES: Croissants — the spinach and feta — it’s French Spanokopita! The ham and Swiss is good but heat it yourself. If you need it now and have the time tell them to heat in their oven, not the microwave. The plain is your textbook type. Mini corn muffins are a must to try, a little spicy w jalapeños but the bits of corn and cream cheese even that spice out, I plan to replicate the recipie for my own indulgence. The bravarain brioche — extremely light filling, all it needs is a chocolate topping to make it a Boston crème! PIES Key Lime — brought this to my family Thanksgiving, it was the first dessert to go! The graham cracker crust was candylike, probably could eat it by itself. The filling was perfect lime flavoring and smooth and rich. Was asked to bring it next year.

The brioche french toast is fabulous. Its sweet almond flavor combined with a gentle citrus tang makes it unique and so so delicious. Gina’s is spot on with the texture– custard-like, yet light enough to keep me coming back for more without feeling like I’m eating 943595993 calories… the crunchy slivered almonds on top only add to the joy in my mouth. It’s a little pricey at $ 4, but worth the occasional treat. Sometimes it can be a little burned and taste drier, so just take a look at it before buying it. I’ve had a couple of their other pastries in the past, which are decent, but nothing I’d ever buy again. P. s. If you want something heated up, I think they just microwave it instead of toasting it.

I ordered a plain pizza and a sweet potato with rosemary pizza. Both were great! Best part was the loaf cake. It had a hint of orange and dusted iwth sugar. Just ask them to warm it up a bit an dit was a bliss! Pros: Fresh food, moderate price and great service Con: Small seating place. Most of the folks get carry out from here.

Horrible customer service! I don’t like to put a small business on blast but this is not acceptable. Last Sunday, I purchased cookies $ 20 worth. After getting home and sampling a few they had a burnt taste. I took the time to return them to Gina’s and they offer me half of what I paid $ 10.00. Not only did you lose my business(just about every Saturday), I posted what happen on FB only to discover that I was not the only person that had complaints about Gina’s. I will now cross the street and give my business to Montclair Bread Company.

The pastries are very good which is why I gave three stars. But $ 3.50 for an iced coffee? Is that some sort of joke? Even corporate monster starbucks is less expensive(and starbucks at least has soy milk!). Especially with Red Eye Café a block away, with better coffee at much more reasonable prices! I tried to be a loyalist to Gina’s but I can’t justify the overpriced brew in the name of loyalty. A terrible business decision, raising their prices in response to competition. I will come back for pastries occasionally but my daily morning coffee will be bought next door. Shortsighted decision means losing money for the bakery.

Overall closer to 3.5 stars. What I have tried here: various pies(I like ones with the granola crunch on top), the brioche donuts(good and sometimes they sell out so better call first to make sure they have this item), pecan french toast(very good and better when you pop it into your toaster oven — has some sort of citrus glaze), various cookies(was not impressed by these) and the corn bread(was so-so). It seems that a lot of people get the breads from here too. Street parking can be limited and I find it a little expensive.

When I was in Nicaragua a few weeks ago…(sigh…)… I met this really, really amazing guy, who sort of «swept me off my feet», and alas, as I write this, and as I had breakfast at Gina’s the other morning… a single tear is rolling down my cheek. This man(we shall call him«G») was from Sardinia(you know, in Italy?) — but grew up in France. He loved me, and I loved him. Too bad, so sad, I hope to cross paths with him again in the future… if only the universe was to be so kind. At any rate — we drove all over the country, literally. On motorcycle. It was muy peligroso, but, super fun and super romantic. What do they not tell you in the Nicaraguan-adventure-traveler guide books? That the little towns, like Leon and Granada, and even Rivas(which is very close to the HUGE Lake Nicaragua and Ometepe — look it up) have some seriously AMAZING food, and the pastries and the coffees? They are incredible. My future husband G basically said it was some of the best pastries you can find, anywhere in the world… some of the best he has had outside of Italy and France, and some of the best I have had outside of Jersey. Gina’s — you remind me so much of my trip, and my love… him feeding me donuts, and cupcakes, and little biscotti dipped in chocolate, dunking them into our coffees, and nibbling them out of each other’s hands. Gina’s — you are a bakery for the romantic, with your chalk board wall and your lovely staff, my goodness, you are the real gem of the area. I can not wait… can not wait… to go back, every weekend, and hope my Sardinian boyfriend meets me there, surprises me, and we sit, and eat, your lovely cookies and drink your delicious espresso… you make fantasies a reality. Besos y besos, besame mucho!* *Spanglish :) my preferred language at the moment…

We went to Montclair to find«The Bread Company», a bread bakery recently lauded by the NY Times. My wife saw Gina’s across the street so I stopped in there as well and I’m glad I did. I bought their classic baguette(quite good) but the reason for the review is because they have an almond treat that I have never seen or tasted before. It looks like a huge slice of brioche French toast with slivered almonds peppered across the top. I ordered two — one for me and one for my wife. When we got home, I dug one out and immediately started making yummy noises. This is an unusual treat that combines bread, almond flavor and sugary sweetness. I dunked mine in coffee, broke off hunks to nosh and picked the crumbs off my plate. It was all good. Montclair, NJ is a food lovers paradise and Gina’s adds variety to the mix. Recommended.
