Came for lunch. Majority of food was stale. The trays were very messy and looked dirty. They didn’t refill the trays too often. Check out Paradise across the street. Has better prices and selection.

I’m a little surprised at myself for rating 4 stars here. It’s standard buffet cuisine at a typical American buffet. And, you’d think I’d be pretty tired of it after years eating here once a month for work.
But, within that standard and with those expectations, this particular HomeTown Buffet still shines. The quality of the food is good, never sitting unfilled or stale. The salad bar always looks fresh. Messes are rapidly cleaned. Employees are friendly and bus empty dishes before they become a nuisance. The bathroom and all eating areas are very clean as well.
Not a regional, culinary destination. But a good, clean experience with quality food where you can stuff your face :)

I’ve been to a bunch of these restaurants and they are all generally good. But I’ve been to this one a few times passing through the area recently and it is among the best. The food is fresh and good. The service is fast and friendly and it is very clean unlike a lot of buffets.

It’s been a pleasure coming here. Our coupons have always been honored, food is good, especially the fruit. The waitresses are very friendly and always make us feel welcome. My past experience was an uncomfortable one. As we walked in, one of the managers (who was at the register), greeted me, but not my friend, who was actually the one paying. I thought it was very disrespectful and makes the buffet look bad. I hope next time he remembers his manners.

Chicken friend steak, ham and roast beef very good. Their mashed potato is delicious, however I miss the corn bread. They only serve it for lunch now. Boo :(
Their desserts are good except for the cheesecake. It’s pretty awful since its bland and the crust is way to crumbly.
Love the majority of their food but this place needs to be updated. The floors are old and there are broken pieces of tile, the carpet is really worn down, and some of the chairs are ripped on the seat cushions.
The staff is nice and friendly. Keep up the good work.

Special Senior special/​as we had $ 5.99 coupons, that days we felt like drinks, so manager told us with house special 2 senior lunches you save $.90 cents over the $ 5.99 coupon plus drink.
Good servers, had table clean of empty dishes often.

I give it 4 stars for their 4.99 breakfast coupon. Don’t be scared of a line it moves fast. Employees are attentive. Food is not bad, many choices. I only come here if I have a coupon.

So, the food was great until my boyfriend found a blonde hair in his pudding!!! I told him to tell the manager or someone, but he was really grossed out and embarrassed for some reason, we just left because he said he didn’t wanna cause a scene. Which I was upset about because the service was terrible either way. The waitress did not come to pick up our dishes, she was giving out samples but skipped us for some reason, AND the ice cream machine was broken! Never coming here again! It’s disgusting.

They are know for their salad bar??? This place is gross… I want my money back I just don’t want to spoil my mother Inlaws Bday… Last time I was here was a last year and it’s actually worst now… The workers are scattered chit chatting most of them. I don’t know how a manager can walk in front of the dirty and messy food counters. I’m telling ya for $ 12.99 each we spent over $ 80 and this place is too dirty to be spending that kind of money… I’m upset I don’t even know what to say anymore.

I only eat here when I have coupons and I am desperate. The food is warmed up and mostly stale. The people are rude and don’t act as if they really like their job or even want to be there. I can’t understand how this place stay open.

It’s a buffet great salad bar and menu! I choose healthy food all the time I come here, price is right!

Horrible place, cold enchiladas, there was some sortofa stick in my Daughters mashed potatoes, and poor service! Manager did give a coupon for another horrible dinner which she did not use.

Totally love going to this location to eat, everything I have had has been great. The corn bread from here, just love it. My friend and I come about every 2 weeks, and have found coming in after 6:30 pm is a perfect time.
During my last visit, they had a new Cinnabon desert, and was very good! Same with some new sirloin skillet dishes. Breakfast I enjoy have the sausage!

I went to HTBuffet Montclair this past Saturday. I was really impressed how fresh salad bar was! I kept going back for yet one more salad plate! Thank you, HTB. I also had some roast beef and fried chicken along with side dish. Everything was well prepared and we had a great time. I also welcomed some new dish — e.g. chicken tamale. But by this time I was really too full to try it. Perhaps next time.
In my opinion, this HTB branch at Montclair has really worked hard to improve its service. I was very impressed overall. Staffs were friendly and attentive. But for me, the most important, quality of food — it was very good. And the fresh salad bar was the major discovery from this visit. I had the best salad bar experience ever! I am planning to go back there soon.
With its moderate price, this HTB is Five Star all the way!

I rarely goto buffets, I’ve been here twice on Saturday late lunch & early dinner. It wasn’t packed, with no line like the other spots. Food selection it’s above average but would make a huge difference of they added one or two main more main dishes. The staff is nice and they stop by to see if you need anything or to pick up plates. Over the place is kept clean. –1 star due to one of the men’s restrooms stalls not having a door.
I’ve been to other HT buffets and it’s always a mad house, it’s super loud, and usually can’t have more than one plate due to the gluttony going on.

There was a large variety. I don’t know what the other comments are about, all I know from what we have experienced this Home town buffet deserves an A.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I came to this Hometown Buffet after leaving the mall with my family. We all agreed on this place because of the kids– they love their deserts, and sweets. From the minute you are sitting down, a strong, foul, urine smell lingers throughout the place. The carpet looks super old and disgusting; perhaps, that’s where the smell is coming from. The food was mediocre, too. Limited selections. Cold food. Avoid this place at all cost! Please go elsewhere.

My family decided to come for lunch yesterday. Now first I would like to say that this place is horrible! I like to start off with a salad before my hot meal, needless to say the salad bar was practically empty. Then my son asked me for a taco, so I go to get him one, there was no meat, so I asked a woman who worked there if she could get some more, she went to the back came back and she said it will be a few minutes, ok, that was no problem, so we walked around and he picked out some other things, by the time we were done, no one came out to refill the meat so we went back to our table. About 10 minutes later my husband went for another plate, he came back and said there was still no taco meat. Anyways, after a halfed ass meal for a full price we went home and my husband and I got sick, stomach pains, diarrhea and nausea.
We will NOT be coming back to THIS place again.

Likes: unlimited cherry icees (they have blue raspberry and mango flavors too). Fruit and corn were good, so were the tacos and salmon, meatloaf wasn’t bad, Mongolian stir fry was ok — the meat and noodles were a little dry so I needed more sauce to make up for it
Dislikes: It was okaaay… I wasn’t wowed by this buffet.

Derrick L. and I just ran 3.5 miles and we were really hungry. What better way to reward yourself than hitting up a local Hometown Buffet? We read the reviews and were pretty cautious about coming here. After much debating we set our expectations WAY BELOW the bar and just accepted that we had coupons and we were hungry.
This place was pretty busy and filled with patrons. The main dining area looked fine in terms of cleanliness. The workers were also friendly. The meal with the coupon cost us a little over $ 10 each, but it came with a drink. Then there’s the food. It was GREAT FOR WHAT WE PAID AND EXPECTED!
They have tasty meatloaf that wasn’t dry (I ate a lot of this with ketchup), I think they serve a decent top sirloin steak that they cut you small pieces of (but you can get as much as you want!), they have prime rib which was pretty good, homely pot roast, fried chicken, and my favorite thing was their TACO BAR! It tasted like eating a taco from TACO BELL! They also have Spanish rice and corn salsa which I love. Lastly, their soft serve was very creamy/​milky and not icy like most places. They also have a HUGE SALAD BAR, but who eats salad? That’s dumb.
If you come here with really low expectations then you will leave EXTREMELY satisfied. The food is pretty safe, there’s a VERY HIGH TURNOVER because there are so many people eating all the food, and the selection is decent. I could see myself coming here a couple times a year.
