The best bread in the area for sure !! Gray breakfast and lunch specials and a very fair price for the quality of food your getting!

No consistency in prices. The difference between a regular loaf of bread and semolina bread is pennies. Today I ordered a sandwich on semolina and was charged 6 dollars more then the regular sandwich for the same size. I drive 30 minutes to get there but the commute and being ripped off has now turned me off. Make sure you don’t order a sandwich on semolina because you might get ripped off.

Best Italian deli in Montclair! Delicious roast beef which is perfection on a roll. Get extra oil and vinegar. I haven’t branched out beyond sandwiches and soup but I intend to. They also have a refrigerator case with pastas and sauces. To top it off they have a parking lot and covered seating area on the side.

Really good and authentic Italian spot! Homemade food is so tasty and hearty, they also have their homemade soups that are filing and delish! Their subs are huge could feed 2 – 3 people easy.

I buy bread at Nicolo’s and it is outstanding; the best Italian bread that I have ever had. I cannot say more than that; their bread is the best.

This is a family own business that has been in the neighborhood. For many years my parents brought bread from here. When I was little and from another generation of this family. Now myself and family are buying still buying this famous Italian bread. That’s been around for generations.

Went to Nicolos today after the blizzard. Wasn’t really sure what I wanted/what they had but wanted to try them since I heard they were so good. I was immediately greeted by the woman working the register and she gave me recommendations and asked what I wanted. I ended up getting the potato egg sandwich and it was out of this world. Will definitely go back!

I love nicolos… the food is always so fresh and authentic. It’s a great place if you are in a hurry but even better if the weather is nice and you have time to sit outside to enjoy your lunch. I love the paninis they have made, ham cheese and tomato especially, as well as prosciutto, roasted red pepper, fresh mozzarella sub. Lastly, make sure you try to sausage bread if you have the chance! Cant wait to stop here for lunch when im2in town next weekend!

This place has delicious chicken parm sandwiches. The grilled chicken panini with mozzarella(always fresh) and pesto sandwich is my second fav. The only disappointment is the roll my cold sandwiches are on. I always ask for soft bread with the cold sandwiches and that never seems to happen.

They have great food and the place is very clean. Honestly when you’re there, you want to try one of everything because everything looks so good. I’ve been going here long enough that I too have noticed that there is a customer service issue here. No smiles on faces and there are even some people behind the counter that make you feel like you are inconveniencing them. I don’t care because the food is good but it would be nice to have better service to round out the experience.

Been coming here for over 20 years and the bread is the best. Blows Calandra’s away but Nicolo’s either can’t compete with their«P.R» campaign or doesn’t care to. The sandwiches from breakfast to lunch are excellent esp. the eggs and potato. We travel a lot for college sports and parents from all over tell us make sure you bring those sandwiches to the tailgate. It can be hard to find and workers can be a bit grumpy but it’s worth it.

I have been going here since I was a young child and it has always consistently been great. It’s by far the best bread and deli in town my family would never go anywhere else. You know it’s good when people from other towns not only have heard about them but come all the way to Montclair to buy the bread and sandwiches. When you go to check them out a definite must try is the potato and egg sandwich!

If I was reviewing just the bakery, this would be a 5 star. The breads and pastries are fabulous. I just got some stuff from the deli for dinner, and there was way too much garlic in it for me. I think I have lost my taste for garlic, so I didn’t ding them further. I got the pork braciole(sp) and the broccoli rabe(I KNOW, it’s supposed to have garlic but it was really too much — for me). If you love garlic, this is your place. I also got the tomato and mozzarella salad, and it had no flavor. And this IS tomato season. So I am a fan of the bakery, but I will steer clear of the deli, especially if I am going to be within 50 feet of anyone I care about.

I had the most disgusting tasteless Italian hot dog. A total waste of money($ 10.32) as it ended up in the trash. You would think something like this would be simple to make. Totally disappointed and the gentleman who served me had no personality whatsoever. He acted like he was doing me a favor and didn’t want to listen to what I had to say. Will definitely not be returning.

Your food may be great; but your service sucks! This is Unilocal and the story must be told. We came in on Easter Saturday, on a verbal tip from one of the guys from the Red Eye coffee shop who raved about this place. Great, all we needed were some deli meats to make grilled cheese sandwiches later. Found parking right in front, score! Walked in to your typical Italian bakery/deli — the baked goods looked good. The store was pretty busy everyone picking up fresh bread. We wandered around the shop checking everything out, finally got to ordering some prosciutto and and some peppered ham. The lady who was helping up definitely knew her stuff when it came to meats; but there were no pleasantries whatsoever. We also brought home a couple of soups, we didn’t have them for a couple of days — and yes they were really good! Checking out was another barrage of unpleasantries, c’mon if someone wishes you a Happy Easter, you can at least smile. I also noticed all patrons were treated in the same fashion. Why would anyone tolerate that? Perhaps this is what you are known for, great food and crappy attitudes? And this is what Unilocal is known for real and honest reviews. Sorry, there won’t be a next time.

You know how Snapple says ‘made from the best stuff on Earth’? Well, that stuff is also in Nicolo’s and it’s in abundance! Your only regret will be your inability to try it all. My first time there, their daily special was a BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Not only did it spark my desire for more Nicolo’s, but it was pretty cheap. I saved the second half for dinner! FYI bring cash. Or else you’ll have to use the ATM in the back, which just so happens to be where they keep all the rolls… just saying.

Nicolo’s is the best deli in the state of New Jersey. They have the freshest Italian bread. Their Italian hero with its ham, salami and provolone is phenomenal. Best of all, their prices are reasonable.

I’m getting really bored with the«you’re not part of the Italian family, so we’re not going to talk to you» service. Hell, I swear today the lady at the register was forcing herself not to smile. Sometimes I think people find this adds to the local charm. Personally, I think it’s a nuisance. Granted I’ve been in the area long enough that it doesn’t bother me too much. However, all things being equal, I’ll go to the place with the nicer staff. Thing is, there are places in the area that are equal in quality with a nicer staff. Calandra’s for bread. And as mentioned by another Unilocaler, Mastriano’s for deli items. As good as their food is, I wouldn’t go to say that their items are the best; it certainly isn’t the cheapest. The aforementioned places will have comparable, if not better items. I probably won’t be going back to this place.
