I’m not sure there’s a way to go wrong. Brunch is fantastic. Everything is fresh and delicious, all served in a warm and wonderful atmosphere. Be ready to wait on weekends during brunch hours, it’s worth it! Only downside, it can be a little on the pricey side depending on what you order. Only a little, though. My recommendation: Don’t just go, go now!

Mediocre food and way overpriced. Can’t replace sides for something else. *Was told no toast instead of fruit* Can’t lightly cook anything. *Was told it comes the way it’s cooked, no changes* Mediocre service. Will never return.

Brunch at Raymond’s on the weekends really is as good as it gets. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu,(minus the salads), and I’m always impressed with the flavor and presentation of their dishes. The service is always excellent.

I arrived on a cold Friday at 5pm,(party of 2 women). The hostess asked if I preferred seating in the front or back of the restaurant. I said the front is fine and preferred a booth. At the time I counted 4 patrons in the back area, and the front had NONE. She told me, «No, you can’t have a booth because it will be getting crowded soon». I looked around, presently an empty restaurant. We then walked out. Now this is a place I frequent quite often. We went on to another local restaurant. About an hour later at 6 pm, we passed by and I looked inside. Still quite empty, and 2 men in one of the booths. Hmmmm… Well sorry Raymonds, you lost some good customers. There are many other restaurants in Montclair that offer friendlier service.

I had walked out of the Ridgewood location back on Mother’s day, due to a limited menu and having our name initially skipped while waiting outside. My co-workers and I have a weekly ritual of grabbing brunch after our Tuesday meetings. We found ourselves here as we’d never been and heard it was superior(being the original and all). Well, the Montclair location’s menu is just as small and after taking a good glance, I saw that the food was pricey as well. I went with the quiche which came with salad for $ 12 bucks. It was a slice of quiche, and while good, I could find bigger and better for cheaper in Manhattan so that’s saying something. Service was good and interior is nice and bright, but most likely won’t be back.

This place for breakfast/brunch — A-MAZING! The Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast & Poached eggs are my favorite. With a side of their delicious cappuccino, that comes with a cute leaf or heart designed on the foam.(don’t ask me how they do it) In the spring/summer time they have outside seating. Anytime I’ve taken anyone here it doesn’t disappoint! The only downside, the wait on Saturdays & Sundays. But worth it!

I guess you have to really read the reviews of the restaurants on Unilocal and not just look at the amount of stars, because the fact that this place only has 3.5 stars is mainly due to people who struggle with the word«marshmallow», let alone their hilarious attempts at «definitely». Perhaps my favorite was from a girl who loved the food and service but decided to give this fine establishment two stars because they«don’t have parking». Honey: there’s a five floor parking deck behind the restaurant and, judging by your picture, you should be cycling here anyway, from like, Princeton. Better yet, just have a smoothie, you can’t afford French Toast, but I digress. I’ve been to this restaurant probably 400 times and have never had a bad meal. In fact, I’ve almost always had great meals — the fries in France ain’t got nuthin on Raymond’s fries, bitches. The food is fairly priced, and the quantity and quality are palpable. On warm days when you can dine outside, the food runners bring our dog a bowl of fresh water and, on cold days, those same runners take our son’s stroller to the back of the restaurant and help us seat all 16 pounds of him in a comfortable spot. The menu is evolving(mad props to the Farmer’s eggs with shiitake mushrooms and the avocado toast) and the specials are well thought-out, diverse, and priced well. Overall, my only recommendation would be to actually raise the price and therefore quality on a few items and turn it up a bit at night. But I’m not a chef so, like a lot of people, my opinion is tantamount to Shaggy driving the Mystery Van — as if! They didn’t even draw him a chair, poor bastard. Again, I digress, Highly highly recommended.

Came here with my coworkers for brunch. It’s decorated very much like the Ridgewood location, homey and hip. Service was good, our waitress was friendly. The menu is identical to the Ridgewood location, and still pretty limited. Unfortunately, the food is about the same, and still overpriced.($ 7.50 for 2 eggs, homes fries, and toast?) I ordered the quinoa bowl, which had spinach, pickled carrots, avocado, two poached eggs, and of course, quinoa. It was a little bit salty, but it tasted great. Portion was a bit small, and for the price, I probably could’ve gotten steak and eggs elsewhere.

I’ve been coming to this place for years with my dad. I would have given them a 4 or 5 star rating a few years ago, but recently I’ve been a bit disappointed mainly because they’ve gotten rid of my favorite menu items and the new items aren’t as good at all. FOOD: I used to love the Skirt Steak, which has been replaced now by the Hangar Steak. The meat portion is large, but there isn’t all that much flavor. The steak is char grilled and comes a side salad(as in just mixed greens with dressing) and three small sauces. There is also some roasted garlic that comes on top of the steak, but doesn’t taste like they were cooked together. Generally, my compliant is that the sauces aren’t very flavorful, so the whole dish is missing taste beyond plainly cooked meat. I miss the sauce, cheese, and sun dried tomatoes on the skirt steak :( DESSERT: I shared the Key Lime Pie which was really good! The key lime filling is very light, tart but not too sweet, and had non-sweetened whipped cream which worked well. I’ve had a Chocolate Cake of theirs before that I did not care for – I remember it being too sweet. AMBIANCE: Casual and loud. They pack a lot of tables in, so when people walk by it seems close. Not terrible though, and understandable considering it’s a popular place. Outdoor seating during appropriate seasons is great. SERVICE: Good. Friendly and attentive waiters and waitresses. No complaints over the years. TIPS: They don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait on busier nights.

My wife and I visited Raymond’s for breakfast for the first time in a few years yesterday. We always love the ambience of this cool place in Montclair. Part of the attraction of this place is how much it hasn’t changed over the years. The only negative was that after ordering, our server came back and said they ran out of waffle and pancake batter. Not sure how a place specializing in breakfast runs out of batter early on a Monday morning, but that was the case. All in all, it was still a pleasant experience dining here again. We will be back and hopefully next time they’re a little better prepared!

Raymond’s is a nice place to have breakfast, brunch and lunch. It has an upscale diner décor and the staff was friendly. I came here a few times for brunch and there was always a wait time, about 10 – 20 minutes; probably because it was Sunday. It was cramped and barely anywhere to stand. Waiting outside shouldn’t be an option especially when it’s cold or raining. The staff is not extremely friendly, but approachable. I ordered their popular Belgian hot chocolate served with an extremely large marshmallow, which was delicious! The marshmallow is huge and looks house-made. It slowly melted into the hot chocolate and added rich texture and flavor to the hot drink. One of the best hot chocolates that I have ever been served! I also ordered their popular french toast: five slices of baguettes(I think that’s the bread they used) sprinkled with confectioner sugar and served with fresh fruit. Their french toast is prepared very sweet and that’s without maple syrup. I have a sweet tooth so I was able to tolerate it, but only until about the second or third slice. I’m giving Raymond’s two stars because of the following: street parking is hard to find and if you do find it, it’s probably metered, so be prepared with quarters. Since it can get crowded, I would suggest to try and come here on a weekday or early to avoid the rush which usually happens on Sundays. And standing room to wait inside is extremely small when it’s really busy. There isn’t a huge variety of dishes on their menu and it can also be a bit expensive, depending on what you order. They also don’t offer turkey bacon or sausage. Other than what I mentioned, Raymond’s is a nice place to try, but I probably would only come back to have their hot chocolate.

Raymond’s is an upscale diner style restaurant. They have outdoor seating which offers a nice view of the quiet restaurant filled Church Street. The portions are big so come hungry. My girlfriend and I stopped in during a late summer evening. Raymond’s is very popular and usually is busy especially during brunch. However, it wasn’t as crowded since it was a Sunday night. I ordered the cheese steak which was their take on the traditional, melty, indulging sandwich. It came with a side of thin cut fries. My girlfriend ordered the veggie burger. This was slightly different than your regular veggie burger as it had a beet and chard based patty topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Usually at diners its hard to find a healthy option but to still have something satisfying. This veggie burger is a nice alternative. The sodas also were very refreshing. I ordered the ginger ale and mint blend which may have been a seasonal special. Unfortunately we skipped dessert but I saw the blueberry pie on the way out. I will definitely be back just to try that gigantic pie!

Grabbed brunch on Saturday. The four of us waited for a little over 20 min. The food was good and I can see why this place always seems to be on a wait. I had the omelet with caramelized onions and wild mushrooms — a bit buttery but a good combination. The side of potatoes were cooked perfectly though my toast was way over toasted. My friends liked their dishes too — avocado and poached egg; turkey club; egg and grits. The food takes a while to come out, which I appreciated since after all we’re not at a diner. The single co-ed bathroom however was disgusting.

Nice spot in middle of Montclair with a local feel and vibe to it. Its also very trendy. The food here could be better, however the service and the atmosphere make up for that. Its also BYOB which is a huge plus with a nice wine store next door. They also have outside seating which is a bit cramped. Try the hot chocolate with their signiture marshmellows, and the soda that they make right there.

I’ve been here a few times now an enjoyed my experience! Obviously, this isn’t the type of place where you’re going to get exceptional service, but every time I’ve been here the service has been decent enough and the staff seems to be friendly. There is really nothing THAT special about this place, but it’s still a solid brunch spot for the area. My favorite dish here is by far the avocado toast! It looks like a small portion with one piece of toast, but it comes with a heaping portion of avocado and two large poached eggs. The cappuccinos and mochas are also pretty tasty! My only disappointment with this restaurant is every time I come in I want to try the Huevos Con Carnitas and every time they are out of pork. Bummer, that’s obviously a popular dish so I wish they’d prepare better. One downfall here is the typical Montclair wait times so I’d recommend coming past 2pm to get a table right away. This restaurant is BYO so make sure you pick up some champagne to enjoy with your brunch!

Good eats. Went in for a nice little Sunday downtown and wasn’t disappointed. Had to wait about 25 min but on the first nice day of the year right at lunch time that’s not bad. Cappuccino was great, a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion. Had the avocado toast with poached eggs which were cooked perfectly. Wifey had an omelet that was super fluffy. All in all a very pleasant meal and experience. Would definitely return again.

this place was just too good! We came on a Saturday about 1pm, and there was a 20 minute wait. It’s a small café so it was pretty packed tight. It’s BYOB so luckily there is a liquor store right next door so we decided to get some champagne while waiting. Once seated we ordered some OJ to make some mimosas! My fellow ordered the french toast and I got the Norwegian Benedict with hollandaise sauce on the side! The Benedict was so good, it was potato cakes with smoked salmon and a poached egg. everything was great, even the potato was so flavorful compared to any other hashbrown style potatoes I have ever had. The french toast is the winner here! I have never had french toast like this before and I wanted to eat the entire meal! We ended our meal with a Belgian hot chocolate with one of their homemade marshmallows. Gosh that was to die for. Rich foamy chocolate with a squishy marshmallow! I hope to come back to this place more often.
