The staff at South End Hardware are knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are competitive and selection is excellent.
And you don’t get shaken down by security guards on your wait out — like you do at those national hardware store chains that shall remain nameless :-)
In general, I prefer doing business with small local establishments like South End Hardware (versus the giant corporations), but especially when the product and service are superior.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Good inventory. Like the earlier reviewer, I go here first before I go to Home Depot.

The guys here are generally very helpful. There’s a few areas, like paint and outdoor grills, they do very well. On a few occasions I’ve gone straight to Home Depot to get a bunch of odd stuff for a project and struck out trying to find anything or deal with the clueless sales people, then stop by South End only to find everything I need quickly, so now I always go to South End first.
