Thanks to a fellow Unilocaler’s review, I made the very easy decision to take a drive out to Montclair to try out one item: The Corner’s Chocolate Chip Cookie. Referenced as being similar to the heralded Levain Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie, which I’ve indulged in twice before, my decision to make the trip was quite easy being a Chocolate addict and Cookie Monster LOL. Note that these cookies are only sold starting at 2:30PM, which means you best get there on time! I arrived at 2:36PM only to be saddened to find out the first batch was already sold out! Luckily, the key word there was«first batch», as I was told another was in the oven. I asked the very friendly young lady behind the counter how long for the next batch to be ready and was told 15 – 20 minutes. I was allowed to reserve two cookies and come back in the aforementioned time frame. After a quick walk around the neighborhood, I was very happy to see my two cookies were graciously set aside and nestled inside a plastic container. The slight steam on the container revealed that these indeed just came from the oven. About 45 minutes later I quickly opened my container and had a nice slice of one cookie and it was excellent. Texture wise The Corner’s cookie was spot on with Levain’s with a soft, almost underdone/half-baked texture and a slightly crisp exterior. Chocolate chips were perfect as they were just on the edge of semi-soft gooey(you know it when you have to wipe of from your hands). However, I feel Levain’s cookie is overall richer and more decadent, maybe from the use of additional butter or extra flavor imparted from the walnuts(the Corner’s did not have any nuts), or maybe from the chocolate chips used(I’ve read that they use Guittard chocolate chips). Ultimately, Levain still is my cookie benchmark as it holds a special place in my heart and stomach, but the Corner’s variant most certainly satisfied me and put a smile on my face!

This review is for the chocolate chip cookie that I am eating as I write this review. I’ve been wanting to come here for a while and I’m so glad I finally stopped in. Even though I was only getting cookies, I experienced great service. These cookies are just as good as Levain’s in NYC. Yes, that good. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go! I’m excited to come back and try their breakfast and lunch.

Hands down best breakfast brunch place around! Fresh home cooked dishes! In my opinion that’s rare most breakfast places smell like oil from frying so much. I am a huge foodie & I am now in love with this place must haves: any of their breakfast quiches, lattes, fresh oj & the avocado toast ! I can’ttttttt! Great quality food & service!

Jeezy Pete, this place The freshest local greens, perfectly crafted chai latte(with espresso, cause I needed a jolt), and attentive staff. My homie and I have a standing Thursday morning breakfast date and since last week we hit the Red Eye(my pick), this week we went with her choice. I was excited to try it as she gushed about it all week and I’m glad I did because the definitely did not disappoint. It’s a cute spot; there’s ledges with stools, somewhat of a community table in the center and booths along the back wall if I remember correctly. We arrived around 930a and it was already pretty full. We sat at the ledge, people watching while we waited. Nice music, not too loud, someone sang along with a favorite tune… charming atmosphere. I’d say it’s great for a date or brunch with a friend or two. The first thing that caught my eye was the Avocado toast, which I’d intended to take with me, but after my meal, I decided against it. Next time tho, it’s going down. She had the Truffled Deviled Eggs, of course I had one and it was everything I could hope for in a deviled egg. Creamy and not overly salty, with a dash of paprika and a bit of micro greens to make your mouth extra happy. I opted to start with a buttermilk biscuit, the butter it was served with complimented so well as it was nice and light. I want to say the preserves/jam are made in house, but I could be wrong. Either way, I don’t think it could have been any fresher(fresh is definitely a theme here). Amazing. For my meal, I had the BLT; local bread, local greens, avocado and tomato ripened to perfection. The homie went with a smoked salmon salad and I got a picture, I was just so lost in my sandwich I forgot to ask her for the deets. She finished every leaf on her plate, so I think it’s safe to say it was delicious. Overall, a delightful experience… I hope to be back very soon(that avocado toast is callin me.)

This little café is as cozy and quaint as ever. It is VERY small and gets quite packed(Something to keep in mind if you’re coming for Sunday brunch… Come EARLY!). We ended up waiting about an hour just to get seated. Once we were seated they were fresh out of many of their daily specials and desserts. The staff was very accommodating despite this, offering us some pastries to enjoy while we ordered since we had been waiting so long. The service was excellent and everything we enjoyed was delicious. I’d highly recommend the pancakes and avocado toast. Soups were really delicious! Fresh, yummy pastries and hot drinks on point! Also don’t miss their ricotta/prosciutto or burrata/prosciutto toasts. Phenomenal.

Trendy place. Good food. Bad service. Went here for breakfast with family. Took us long to get seated. I had to ask for the menu. Staff was too busy to be bothered. Ordered scrambled eggs with beans, platter of monkey bread, chocolate croissant and blueberry scone and a latte. Everything took a long time to come. 12 mins to get water? Come on! The food, on the contrary was quite good. And fresh. It could’ve been a five star experience had the service been better.

Sad to update my review to 2 stars. I came here once before with a friend and had a fantastic experience. I brought my mom here for breakfast this morning and was absolutely appalled by the horrific service. These hipster waiters clearly do not like working here and have a horrible attitude. The guy who seated us was friendly but our waiter was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The food was fantastic-I got the pancakes, breakfast burrito, and avocado toast. The only problem was the waiter. It took 20 minutes for us to get our food, which we were fine with, but 15 minutes into our meal, while I was eating, he asked my mother and me if we needed our food wrapped to go. Really? I was literally putting my fork into my mouth when he said that. I looked towards the door to see if they needed to seat more people but no, no one was waiting. He was just impatient. He came back two more times and did the same thing within the next 10 minutes. Let me eat in peace, please. Do not rush me. He literally threw the check in front of me too. I work at a breakfast place too, trust me, I k ow how stressful it can get. But we as customers did nothing wrong except choosing to come to this awful place. Such a shame, because the food is awesome and the waiter I had last time was great. But if this guy continues to work I never want to come back.

I haven’t been this stoked about something called The Corner since rapper Common’s 2005 hit single. Trendy place with a cafeteria environment, very community-style. However, their food and service makes them pop! Simple comfort food, but done extremely well, and with a modicum of flair & added quality to it. Came to this spot with Mom and baby sis, to spend time with Moms on her Golden Birthday(The Big 50). LOVED the experience. First of all… I don’t know what’s more organic: The food, or their service. I’ll start with the vittles! For our beverages, we started with aromatic coffee, rich hot chocolate, and a PHENOMENAL fresh juice. I had something called The Glow. I don’t remember what else was in it, but it definitely had a pronounced cucumber flavor. As indicated in many of my previous reviews, I’m a breakfast-brunch junkie… Call me a BRUNKIE.(Okay, I’ll quit comedy now). I love going to these spots and trying 3 things: Their hashes, their Benedicts, and their«shrits»(shrimp & grits). So this place was no different. All 3 of us ordered different items. Mom ordered a spinach omelette w/goat cheese & avocado. Now I wanna preface with THIS: Their eggs are fluffier than Gabriel Iglesias. Her omelette may have been all of THREE eggs, but looked as if they’d made it with about 5. Very voluminous, and filling. She totes enjoyed it. My sister, being a super plain-Jane 11-year-old, went super simple with the scrambled eggs, crispy [yet not greasy] bacon, and a moist croissant. Again: VERY fluffy eggs. Now, we go to MY meal choice: Their Brisket Hash. While I normally expect anything titled«HASH» to contain potaterrrsssss, I overlooked the name discrepancy once my dish came out. My mom, sis, and I thoroughly enjoyed this dish(my mom dug into my brisket more than her own omelet). It was THEEEEE single-most tender, juicy, and properly-fat-balanced bit of shredded brisket, underneath two soft poached eggs & Hollandaise sauce… All atop an incredibly-moist, yet simultaneously dense cornbread, with corn kernels baked in! So lit. The taste of each dish, was indicative of very fresh and quality ingredients, coupled with careful preparation… Basically, like every Kendrick Lamar album. The service was the icing on this cake of Foodie Bliss. Our server, Claudio, was a real gem. He also happens to be the manager at this joint. When I say our service was organic, it really felt like just some awesomely cool, artistic guy in his Brooklyn apartment was hosting us and serving us food! What a really genuine guy, along with the rest of his amazing, down-to-earth staff who go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable about being in their establishment! If the reputation and long wait times are this good after only a YEAR in business, then I can only imagine this spot in another 5 years. Great job, Corner Guys. #YesIJustMadeYourNewCollectivename #YouGuysRock

I can’t really say anything bad about this place. The décor is bright and friendly, yet cozy and the staff is really nice. My friend and I met here for brunch one weekend… Montclair is our half way point so we are always looking for a comfortable/good spot to sit and catch up with tasty healthy food options. The Corner is that place. The coffee was good and the fresh juices were simply delicious. We tried the Bee’s Knees and Bells and Whistles. Both tasted so fresh and delicious. Next we shared the Prosciutto & Ricotta toast and the Smoked Salmon on Toast with poached eggs. All of the ingredients just tasted so fresh and of high quality. Really enjoyed our meal.

I came here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. I was the first customer. They opened at 8am. I had my pick of any table. I think seating would be very limited on the weekends. I ordered the biscuit and berry pancakes for my entrees. I got an americano to sip on. The biscuit was huge but very bland without butter and the jam it comes with. I wishes they would have heated it prior to bringing it out on a cold morning for me. The pancakes comes with the vanilla syrup. I should have asked for the syrup on the side. It was too sweet for me. my sipping coffee was finished with my gulps. I would come back during off peak hours and try to get a savory and sweet item to help balance my meal. I would normally give this type of review 3 stars but the service was very attentive. Although, I was the only customer for the first 15 mins of opening. Credit card accepted. Didn’t check out the bathroom. I liked the pipework along the window.

I had a great experience coming here for brunch. We came on a Sunday around 12:30 I think and sat down right away. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered the brisket special and the panne tone French toast. Both were delicious and well presented! We also had a matcha latte and mocha which were good too, although didn’t stay hot as long as we would have liked. The ambience of the place is fun and casual. They have a lot of other great options for brunch and juices so I will have to come back to try some more soon!

I recently tried The Corner and I’m ready to go back and try more. We came at the perfect time and didn’t have to wait for a table but I would not be surprised if the restaurant was packed during the weekends. We were overwhelmed with the menu because of how GOOD everything sounded(and looked just by glancing around at other tables). As tough as the decision was, we decided on a Kougin-Amann, fresh berry pancakes, and the grilled taleggio sandwich(we added bacon) with a cup of roasted tomato soup. –The Kougin-Amann was served warm and came quickly. If you take a buttery and flaky croissant and caramelize the crust, you have a Kougin-Amann. It was delicious. –The fresh berry pancakes were thick and fluffy. Every bite of the pancake felt like I was taking a bite out of a cloud. I loved the texture of the pancakes and the pancakes had a great light flavor. I found the syrup on the sweet side but the fresh berries stuffed in the pancakes toned down the sweetness. –The grilled taleggio sandwich was delicious, especially with bacon added. The roasted tomato soup was a great complement to the richness of the sandwich(thanks to the truffle oil). All in all, the food was very fresh and very delicious. Both the breakfast and the ambience of The Corner will help you start your day right. I will definitely be back soon!

I will say that although it was packed on a Sunday, the staff tried their best to keep the flow of customers at a steady pace with great customer service as well. The wait 45 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. The Afghan Chai tea was simply delicious and fresh, this wasn’t your out of the box tea. The croissant was freshly made as well as the blueberry scones. You could smell that they were made from scratch. Overall service was fast, friendly, and accurate with recommendations. I’m definitely going back there, but probably on any other day but a sunday. They should consider expanding.

The restaurant name is perfect because it’s literally on «The Corner» with off street parking and behind the building there’s metered parking available. I rate this restaurant 4.5 stars because there was 1 dish I wasn’t thrilled about which surprised me. Let me start with my faves: 1. Avocado Toast… hey why not add the poached egg… this is delicious… I can devour 2 orders. It comes with 2 toasts. 1. QUICHEQUICHEQUICHE no matter what they are I am ordering it. I’ve had the roasted sweet potato with kale *drool* *did you notice they are both #1s…cuz they are my favorites* I’m not thrilled about the truffled devil eggs… OMG seriously I was surprised myself. I honestly felt the seasoning was off. It didn’t blend for me. I love their blended drinks…“GLOW”(cucumber, beet, pineapple & apple) and the«SUNRISE»(carrots, apple & orange). They are both refreshing. DESSERT: So hard to choose so the waiter suggested the poached pear and it was pretty tasty… more on the sweeter side, but my gf and I pretty much destroyed it. I always look forward to eating here again. You won’t be disappointed. Don’t be surprised if there is a wait. Everything always taste fresh. Can’t wait to create another review.

Very trendy spot with cool décor, but way over priced for what you are eating. The Corner looks like a cool SoHo restaurant in NYC, which I can understand one reason why people frequent here. We decided to come and try something new for breakfast and since this place had had such awesome reviews we were like what they heck. They have alot of options to choose from such as fresh juices, hamburgers, breakfast. I decided to have the Breakfast Sandwich, which was actually quite tasty with the garlic aioli. uuummm good. It was made with buttermilk biscuit, cured bacon, eggs, garlic aioli, onions, fresh greens which was a cool combination, but the ratio of biscuit to protein and egg was 4:1. The portion size was fine for me, but the price of the sandwich was way too much. The coffee was good and strong which is just how i like it. My better half enjoyed his sandwich and avocado toast, but was glad he ordered both because he would have been hungry and grouchy. I would to give this place a higher rating, but the price is definitely making me hold back even though the sandwich combination was cool idea.

Breakfast Review!*** The Corner has a banging NYC SoHo feel to it! The food is fresh, coffee is on point and the Avocado Toast is to die for! We will def come back to try the lunch menu and their awesome looking fries. This morning mi lady and I wanted to try something new and figured due to the stellar reviews we would stuff our faces here. We ordered 2 coffees, 2 breakfast sandwiches and the infamous avocado toast! $ 35 with tip! — Coffee — simply awesome. Sugar in the raw and stevia in the raw is available for you to indulge in. The coffee was nice and strong so we had a few cups =). — Breakfast Sandwich — 1 egg cooked to your liking, 2 lovely thick pieces of amazing bacon, fresh greens, a house blend aioli and probably the best biscuits I’ve had dining out! — Avocado Toast — it was simple, elegant and amazing! Loaded with avocado… Yum yum. All in all everything was great! The customer service is awesome! Shoutout to the staff, they get 5 stars! So why 3 stars you ask? Because… I believe my expectations were set too high. The meals to me were tapas style, but at main entrée prices! I would’ve liked a bit more protein to begin with. Therefore, if you’re hungry… Go for your traditional style hungry man breakfast. We will definitely return to try the different lunch options and fresh juices. Once that’s done I’ll update accordingly. The outside dining is cool, but since the décor and interior design brings in the outside elements… Dining inside is also awesome! Enjoy people’s.

The Corner adds to the array of breakfast options in Montclair, leaving me to wonder how each of these places survives. Red Eye Café. Le Saluben. Bonjour Café. Anderson’s. Toast. Raymond’s. The list goes on and on. But this place is obviously doing well considering how long they have NOT been opened. I remember just about a year ago this was supposed to be a wing and rib joint. That either never happened or else opened and closed very shortly thereafter. Go with the fresh squeezed OJ and the coffee. Yum to both. We split the quiche and the strawberry and apricot pancakes. The quiche didn’t blow my socks off, but the pancakes were delicious. Much thicker than most other places.(Diane C. made this place the obvious choice thanks to her photo of the pancakes). Very reasonable prices. Friendly service. Never felt rushed despite the wait for a table. Outdoor seating, and BYOB I suppose … if you feel like bringing some champagne to mix with that OJ for morning mimosas. They will put three parties of 2 of at the bench table in the middle of the restaurant so I would keep your breakfast talk PG, unless you don’t mind your neighbors all up in your business.

I was very excited to try The Corner as per all the excellent reviews from my fellow Unilocalers, but to be honest, I wasn’t all that impressed. Maybe it’s like when you set your expectations too high and you see a raved about movie and it just does not live up to the hype in your head. I definitely plan to give The Corner a second chance and perhaps my review will change. Three of us arrived around 10:15 on a Sunday morning and to my surprise a table was available inside for us to sit at. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Large open windows really make the small space feel larger. There are bar stools along the window sill to eat at, a large communal table in the center, and tables inside and outside. I began my meal with an iced coffee and I was certainly impressed by their coffee ice cubes. Nice touch! Who likes watered down iced coffee anyway?! For my meal I had the Avocado Toast with 2 poached eggs on top. My husband was looking forward to their ham and cheese croissant but they were not able to substitute a different cheese for him. That bummed him out so he opted for the parfait and a biscuit. My meal was underwhelming, the toast was small, but at least there was a nice heaping of avocado on it. It didn’t really fill me up. My husband said the parfait was pretty good and he loved the biscuit with the strawberry jam. My friend ordered a meal that came with peaches and there might have been 2 slices of peaches. For the price, I was really hoping for a better sized portion. I’ll definitely go back to The Corner to give it another chance. Perhaps I’ll give lunch a shot and see how it goes. When you visit, you must make a pit stop and use their bathroom. The toilet is like nothing I’ve seen before! Heated seat? Crazy!
