The weather was the best part of our 5 day camping trip. If you enjoy camping with your dog, do NOT camp here. There is only one trail they are allowed. It’s really limiting what you can do. The campground is very open and crowded. You definitely do not feel like you are alone at all. We’ve been camping over 30 years and this was the worst camp host. 3 of us sat up talking until 11:30 and shouldn’t have. He came over to tell us time to go to bed and then left to go back to his RV and we said«what about all the others?». So he left to do a full circuit of all the campers that were talking. I admit we were talking late, but we had a group across the way partying until 3AM and throwing up on the bathroom and he said nothing to them. We asked to buy a bundle of wood and were told they don’t sell them on the weekends. I’ve never heard that before. The last night we were there he came over to tell us he thought our fire was too tall. We had 3 pieces of wood from their bundles on it. He realized it wasn’t and admitted it then left. My husband and I weren’t talking, just watching the fire at 8:30. He was such a jerk and felt harassing the closest campsite meant he was doing a good job. There were too many negatives at this park to make it worth going back. If you do, avoid site 71. Plenty of wonderful camping elsewhere in California.

Stayed in a river site, and had a wonderful time. Felt very fortunate to have been lucky enough to be able to get a spot by reserving a week in advance. We stayed at the campground from 1÷16÷15−1÷19÷15, and at that time much of the campground is still closed due to mud slides. South Camp and Weyland Camp are closed, only the Main Camp(sites 131 – 189) is open. The campground has been full every night this weekend, so make reservations if you can. The day use areas are open, as well as Pfeiffer Falls/Valley View Trail and Buzzard’s Roost Trail. The Pine Ridge Trail is closed. Even with the closed areas, there was still lots of hiking and river access, so still a 5-star experience.

I can’t believe we’re here on January 18th and the weather is terrific! We have a nice RV spot along the river. The fire pit is deep and has a great iron cast grill that can be set on top. We barbecued steaks the first night we were here. Something about eating in the wilderness makes it that much better. The camp spots are clean and they all have a nice big picnic table. Bathrooms are well kept and pay showers(tokens) are available. The have water spickets located between camp sites.

Sehr sehenswerter State Park direkt and dem Highway One südlich von Monterey.
