If I could give 0 stars, I would. During our massage, they were chewing gum and talking about my friend and I. Because they were so unprofessional, I didn’t tip well. Usually I do, but they were literally talking about us during our massage. When I handed the masseuse a tip, he literally laughed in my face. Definitely avoid this place if you can

I used to like going this place and also recommended a few friends about how great this foot massage place was, but after tonight’s incident, I probably won’t go back. This is what happened: I went with a friend of mine, upon our payment, because my friend doesn’t have twenties so she gave $ 100 to the lady and asked the lady to change back $ 60.($ 20 each person = $ 15 for the foot massage and $ 5 tips), but the lady only gave her $ 50 instead of $ 60. First she thought the lady might have counted wrong so she told the lady about it, but the lady has no intend of giving back the remain $ 10 and insisted my friend to give her more tips. When I told them we already included the tips, the lady just snapped us back in Mandarin and said«Why can’t you just give me the $ 10 so that I don’t have to give it back to you» wtf… I’ve never meet any masseur who actually FORCE their customers to give more tips then they have already given.

I was looking for a random foot spa massage today and came by this place by chance. I was hoping it would be good but it was ok. There are only 6 recliner chairs here. Funny how I didn’t see the other 6 recliner chairs that Josephine had mentioned. Typical foot spa places. You don’t go there for the ambiance. The hot water foot soak was not as hot as I would like it to be. I have a high threshold for hot water. The massage started ok and it got better towards the end. What irked me throughout my supposedly«relaxing spa experience» is them talking non stop amongst their co-workers and how LOUD they were. I tried not letting that get to me and tried to just enjoy the experience. What irked me even more is that the lady looked mad that we gave her only $ 5 tip(33% tip)!!! I realize it the hard way that $ 5 is the standard tip on $ 15/hr Foot Spa Massage places in San Gabriel. They get really mad at you if you don’t. But this lady looked mad… I don’t think I’m coming back to this place.

The atmosphere: The ‘spa’ is NOTHING special. There are 12 recliner chairs that look like lazy-boys but function as massage tables located in a pretty barren shop-space. The shop space is dimly lit, and some soft Chinese music plays in the background. Other patrons and the masseuses talk over the music so don’t expect a Burke Williams-esque zen experience(c’mon peeps, its $ 15). The process: Walk in, the friendly workers greet you and you sit your tired achy ass down on a recliner. A masseur will then disappear in the back and bring out a pail of interestingly colored warm water(looks like sewage). I’m guessing this is the ‘herbal soak’ but seriously, it looks like dirty drain water. You stick your dogs in the water. They recline the chair and begin to work on your face and head. At this point, heaven’s door opens and you enter. They eventually move down to your feet and at the end of the massage, they flip you over and give you a fabulous ass massage. Would I go again — heck yeah, it’s $ 15 and it gives me time to digest some seriously good grub before my bajillion hour drive back to the West Side!

$ 15 massage for 1 hour?! Sign me up! My gf and I came here tonight wanting to get a good rub down and boy did we get rubbed down. I requested a female, but they only had male masseuses available so I obliged. He was nice, had strong hands and got the kinks out. Sometimes, he was a bit rough, but when I told him it hurt, he backed off. They speak Mandarin here, so once they found out I spoke it too, they were super nice to me. Ha, I guess it does pay off to know Chinese. We got there late, around 10 pm, but they were still nice and polite and stayed open till 11:15 for us. I like that. Good customer service in an Asian establishment? Almost unheard of. You can’t beat a 1 hr foot, back, arms, legs and butt massage for around $ 20!

If you’ve ever been to one of these Chinese foot massage places, it pretty much fits the bill. It has a small, unassuming storefront, so it’s easy to drive right past it, however it does have a small neon sign in the window, that is aptly decorated with some bamboo plants and large wooden basin tilted on its side, letting you know this is the place. I’d only been to one other place like this up in SF and from that experience I was a bit apprehensive to try another. But upon the recommendation and accompanyment of a relative I thought I give it a shot. As you go inside the door, you step around a bamboo screen into a low lit room with about 6 recliner massage chairs. The attendants there are quick to greet you and friendly enough. No need to speak chinese, but just know that their english is limited. The first 10 minutes or so after they seat you, you are reclined in the chair, covered with a light blanket and your feet are soaked in a hot herbal bath. Along with this, they give you a nice head and neck massage. Once the water cools they dry off your feet and for the next 30 minutes they focus on a thorough foot massage. The final 20 minutes are followed up with a full body massage. They have really strong hands, so let them know if you have any sensitive areas. They are all polite and accommodating. at the end of the hour, the give you a cup of water and you pay the fare. Which is such a bargain, because the full hour is only $ 15 +minimum $ 5 tip. This is not a 4-star spa, so if that is what you are used to, this may not be the place for you. But if you’re looking for a good rub down for about 20 bucks, then it’s well worth the trip. I have been back there five times now and try to stop in whenever I spend some time in LA.
