I Been coming here for years and will continue to come. This place is great! Gray Luu is the man when it comes to your teeth!!! He is skillful, patient and really friendly. I highly recommend people to come check out their office. Really good vibe. Two thumbs up for Dr. Hoi Luu and Dr. Gray Luu!

I found Dr. Luu on Unilocal because I just moved around the area. Their office is very clean and professional. Had a great experiences and I definitely recommend him to anyone around the area that needs any teeth work.

Dr. Gary and Dr. Hoi are absolutely the best you could get! Their place is very clean, very sanitary. They keep you in mind as they do a great job on your teeth. They make sure I’m comfortable and not in unbearable pain. My family and I have been coming here for about ten years and always been leaving with the best service and experience. (:

I was refer here from a friend. Upon arriving, parking was easy and inside the office was nice clean. The receptionist was extremely helpful and answer all my questions regarding my insurance. Not really a fan of the dentist but everyone here made the visit very pleasant and not scary: p

I have been holding off writing this review for a very long time. I’ve been a loyal customer for 20+ years along with my whole family. I like Mr. Hoi and his son, but I have an issue with his wife. I have moved far away for this past four years but I still travel an hour+ away to get my teeth cleaned and checkup religiously. The last visit I had was so unpleasant that I will no longer be returning and my parents are planning not to go to them as well because of my incidents. I’ve always had insurance and everything was fine until I no longer had it and started paying cash for their services, which all of a sudden became an issue. (Mind you, I have spent a lot of money on all my services for many many years). My last visit was the last straw because I came to have my teeth clean and Mr. Hoi’s wife was getting annoyed with me for some reason saying that I should find another dentist locally where I live because she is busy with insurance clients and has no time for people with no insurance. She was really pushy and disrespectful especially for a customer who’s been with them for 20+ years. I feel the reason for this, is her refusal to accommodate cash paying customers because the margins aren’t as good as insurance paying ones. I have insurance now but won’t be returning. She has lost a loyal customer. No disrespect to Mr Hoi or Gary because they have been nothing but helpful. I’m just sorry one bad apple ruined it for me.

Dr Hoi Luu is great, so is Dr. Gary. I’ve been coming here for years. Very reasonable prices and the attention to detail is amazing. Everyone is always very hospitable and not like those other pretentious dentists. I needed a root canal badly one time and I went to another dentist that was closer to me and they literally didn’t want to do it. They told me to come back another day, so i drove down to Dr Hoi and he took care of me right away. Lately I went to get my fillings replaced and Dr Gary was very friendly and did a great job. The dental assistant Haley was very helpful and professional as well. If you ever need to get anything done, this is the place!

Dentist Hoi Luu is awesome — skillful, patient, and friendly. That’s why he’s been my and my family’s dentist since I was a teenager in 1985. Dentist Luu runs a great family dentist practice which cares about the patients and their needs. His wife, office manager/​dental hygienist is a sweet lady who always clearly explains the dental and insurance processes. Haley, the dental assistant is great also.
I recently cracked my rear molar tooth and the other great dentist, Gary (Hoi’s son), skillfully saved it and placed a crown in for me. It was an extremely difficult job but Gary was relaxed, meticulous, and patient in treating me — no more eating corn nuts for me though! I highly recommend DDS Hoi and Gary Luu as they are topnotch dentists who are well trained at their crafts and really care about their patients.

Had Dr. Gary Luu fill some of my cavities. Great guy and awesome dentist. Family owned practice and they definitely treat you like part of the family. He takes the time and explain to you every step of the procedure of what he is doing. He makes you feel comfortable through out the process. That’s very important for a patient. Definitely a very friendly and skillful dentist that I can trust.

I’ve been coming here for the past 13 years and LOVED it! Dr. Hoi and Dr. Gary are my favorite father/​son duo dentist! They are highly experienced, dedicated, friendly and super caring. I like the fact that they treat me more than just a patient. Every time I leave their practice, I would have a big smile on my face because they made my visit so welcoming and pleasant. This place is hands down the BEST dental clinic in Monterey Park!
FYI-​There are plenty of parking spots in this plaza. Also, Mrs. Hoi is super accommodating whenever I had to reschedule my appointment at the last minute.

I’ve been going to Dr. Hoi Luu for many many years. My whole family comes here even my grandparents in the 1990s. He’s been great! Dr. Gary Luu has been taking care of me for 2 years now and he’s also been great. Very easy to talk to and really cares about my teeth. We were their last appointment and never felt rushed! I have recommended DRS LUU to some of my friends and will continue to!

The best! Dr. Luu has been my dentist since I was in kindergarten. I’m 32 now! No complaints. Staff is super friendly too. :)

Dr Gary is so amazing skilled. He provided a detailed plan about what operations he was going to perform. I was surprised it didn’t hurt at all and the amount of detail of his work.

After attending this dentistry for several years, I have finally concluded that this place deserves a «5-​star rating.» During my latest visit, I have noticed that the dentists were very friendly and easy to cooperate with. They made me feel at ease and my teeth were very clean afterwards.

I came here after getting recommendations from a friend. The facility is clean and the staff are friendly. Dr. Gary is friendly and great! He’s meticulous in his work and takes the time to explain what he is doing. As someone who dreads going to the dentist, Dr. Gary makes sure I’m comfortable the whole time by explaining everything and reassuring me throughout the process.

After years of hating the dentist, I have finally found the right dentist that I trust!!!
This small, but very efficient dental office is run by a family who really really cares about you and your teeth! I love that Gary takes his time to explain everything and makes sure you are comfortable during the entire time! I have had x-​rays, cavities filled, and even a wisdom tooth extraction… all were pain free and done in a timely manner!
I recommend this dentistry to all my family and friends. It is so important to find that dentist that really takes his time and care into everything! I no longer fear going to the dentist!

I’ve been coming to the same dentistry since when I was 7 yrs old. So I have been trusting the same practice for almost 14 years now.
Dr. Luu (Sr.?) was my main dentist up until last year and it’s been Dr. Luu (Gary. I guess he is Luu Jr.) since. I always feel like I’ll be taken care of at this establishment. I have been to other dentist in Irvine and didn’t feel the same level of service so I always end up driving back to San Gabriel twice a year for my exams.
You can trust this place to take care of both you and your kids. Gary is funny and your kids might not hate going to the dentist now :)

Over the past half year, I’ve been waking up with sore jaws and slight headaches. It wasn’t until I went in to see Dr. Gary Luu did I find out I was grinding my teeth at night. He had a hypothesis that the grinding was causing the headaches and soreness so he created a night guard for me. I noticed the difference after a few weeks when both symptoms went away.
The primary reason why I’m giving him a 5-​star review is because of his attitude and follow through. He is passionate and excited about what he does, making him care more about the quality of his work than the quantity — he’s not rushing you out to make his next appointment, instead he makes sure he does a good job while explaining the concepts. I’m thinking, «wow this guy cares about my teeth and he’s not just trying to make a buck off me». His follow through was surprising. I was at work one day and he calls me to check up on how the night guard was fitting and any questions I had about it… now that’s some V.I.P service.
If you’re looking for a quality dentist, who you can relate to, and doesn’t scam you and also has nice teeth himself, you should do yourself a favor and book an appointment with him.

Dr. Gary Luu is an All-​Star dentist!
I TRUST the dentists at this office more than any others. Let me explain why.
I moved to Orange County, a few years ago and I’ve tried dentists around here for the sake of supporting local business and not driving to LA. But I completely regret all the times I didn’t go to Luu dentistry. First of all, PRICE and QUALITY. At Luu, I know exactly what I’m paying for and what things cost. They tell me what different dental materials+equipment are out there and why some are better and cost more (like: made in Germany vs made elsewhere). Yet I can use all their best offerings and still not feel like I got robbed at the dentist!
Going to dental offices in OC, one thing is for certain, they will charge you that OC markup price for the same or inferior service! Perhaps it’s because rent is more expensive, and perhaps it’s because the dental offices I’ve been to are all «about corporate profit».
In the case of Luu dentistry, I know the family owns their practice and I am supporting a real and genuine family business. They have stayed in business for over 20 years or so because they are invested in the quality of their family’s work and people always come back!
Those OC dentists offer a «production line» service, people go in and out, and you’re just a dollar sign. Your money doesn’t go to a family, but instead you are paying that extra cash to a dental corporation or umbrella with «traveling» dentists. They don’t own the office they work in and that means they don’t have to invest themselves into offering honest and good long-​term lasting dental services (fillings and implants for example will show if they are good quality if they can stand the test of time) By the time your filling or implant falls off from bad dental work, the dentists are no longer at that office and you are stuck with nobody to be accountable for that expensive shotty work. No accountability! I’ve seen dentists come and go at these offices and it makes me worry! Not only are the patients going in and out like a production line, but the dentists are as well, they come and go, all to be used up and sucked dry by the corporations.
There are still a few REAL GENUINE dentists out there, that give you that nostalgic feeling of Good American Quality and Service. This is what Luu Dentistry offers! They have not given into corporate greed!
I unveil some of the dark truths about dentistry in the modern world, but it’s the truth, and you need to be aware of how you spend your money. Spending more is not always better! I have a degree in business, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Go see for yourself!

I’ve been on a chronic search for a «good» dentist for the last 10 years, and have switched a half dozen times. My insurance provides a list of in-​network providers, and I’ll cross reference the closest dentists to my location to chose the best and closest one.
Usually, most of them are mediocre at best despite stellar 5-​star ratings on Unilocal,but ALL of them feel like visiting a processing facility, where you walk in, and walk out, with no consultation, technical conversation or honest feedback on my oral health. I understand that they are just making a living and the more patients they can turn over per hour, the better, but that’s just unacceptable to me.
I was referred to Dr. Gary Luu through a close friend so I decided to give his practice a shot. What did I have to lose? I’m glad I did because unlike all of his predecessors as my dentist, he took his time to explain everything he was doing, and the reasoning behind his recommendations. To a layman in dentistry like myself, it was very much appreciated and the knowledge gained was much more valuable than a semi-​annual cleaning. During the visit, he was conscious of my comfort/​low pain tolerance and really tried to make me feel as relaxed as could be. My cleaning was very thorough, meticulous and not rushed. Dr. Gary Luu is extremely personable and will make sure you leave with a happy ending.
The office is an intimate, family run practice with a sincere ethic. No one enjoys going to the dentist, but this place definitely makes the experience much less daunting.

I HATE going to the dentist.
But there’s something different about Dr. Gary Luu and his dad.
I’ve been to 3 other dentists since leaving Monterey Park (two with 5-​star reviews, too!!). Yet I always end up going back to them.
I now live in Mission Viejo, but I STILL drive over 50 miles in crappy traffic just to see this dentist.
Sometimes I wonder why I don’t just find a closer dentist. But then, whenever I visit a new one, I’m always reminded of how much I miss the Luu family.
Especially Dr. Gary Luu.
He actually treats me like a human. And I can tell he spends extra time explaining things to me where other dentists don’t.
For instance, in my last visit, he showed me something the previous dentist didn’t. Not only did he say I’ve been grinding my teeth… the following week, he shows me a mold of my teeth to show me the damage. (Protip: did you know your face shrinks as you grind your teeth away, causing premature facial wrinkles? Yep, the other dentist never told me.)
Also, injections. I despise needles. But I’ll be honest, in this last visit, I didn’t even feel it. USC must train their dentists well.
Anyway, if you’re looking for a replacement dentist, make an appointment with Dr. Gary Luu. (I think his dad is about to retire.) I promise you won’t be disappointed.
