I stopped by JJHKG café late night the other night. Located right on Garvey, in the heart of MPK, it offers a huge selection of food to choose from. I called in 10 minutes prior to pickup, and my order was ready for pick-up, as confirmed. I was picking up food for the next day, and chose the preserved beef fried rice. As far as taste goes, it’s not bad, but the thickness of the oil is heavily there, and tastes very rich. I felt a bit tired after I had half of the box because of the richness of the taste, but it wasn’t bad. Perhaps, I should’ve ordered some vegetables to go along with my order. I think I’ll resort to ordering something else next time, but this won’t be my last visit there. The menu is huge, options are endless. Perhaps, I’ll try something that’s non-rice, but perhaps a noodle or pasta dish. Overall grade: B

I might be tripping but this spicy and salty fried porkchop smells like ammonia so I sent it back. Usually I frequent this place with my dance friends in Alhambra and the food and service is awesome. I feel like they intended this meal to be for my friend who wasn’t Asian but it was mine and she had ordered the Indo fried rice. After a couple bites I noticed a pungent almost Lysol like piney smell. It smelled like someone fried the pork in cleaning solution. Safe to say I’ll never eat here again. You want Chinese food? Chinatown full house and abc seafood plus you can use the goldline. Ladawwwww

I come to JJ for: –Lemon iced tea –Indo fried rice –Smelt roe fried rice –Wonton soup –Clam chowder –French toast Simple food for when I can’t think of where/what to eat without having to walk far from home. *Beware of the Mint Fruit Punch… My friend imagined that it would be a sweet fruit punch with a hint of mint flavor and a mint leaf on top. Unfortunately, it tasted like Scope mouthwash with fruit syrup. –_-”

After one longish night, especially for an Orange County person whose moving to 626 soon, JJ Café will certainly be the first destination that would doubtlessly be my go-to. Especially for a food location that’s open late night, I’m amazed by the fact that they serve an incredible endless amount of dishes making me want a pitless stomach just to try everything out. The servers were A1, nice, friendly, & respectful. Would definitely as already stated in my review, would go here again. :) Try Satay Shrimp Chow Mein! My recommendation if you don’t know what to get! The only con about this location is that its not 24⁄7 :(

My wife and I had an early lunch this morning. Fortunately, we were able to get a table in less than five minutes. Ordered the Indo fried rice, which should of but did not come with a fried egg on top. The curry lamb was lukewarm to my disliking. My mike tea came with a regular amount of ice, although I had asked for light ice. It probably would have helped if I knew how to speak Chinese. We saw another customer with filet mignon, which looked really good. Trying this dish would be one of the few reasons why I would return. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.0.

I love this place! It is opened till really late, whenever it’s 1am and I’m starving, my boyfriend and I think about this place first. It’s pretty packed even at 1am, but there is always parking. My boyfriend and I always get the stuffed mushrooms, bolognese pasta, and indo fried rice. I really enjoy the pasta and it’s not too greasy. The indo fried rice is really good too! I know they have a lot of options on their menu. If you dine in their teas are free refills, they’re really refreshing. Service is really nice as well!

I have been going to JJ for many years. I have always love to go for their breakfast due to its good price and ok quality. However, after today, I will never go back. We are a big party, 2 of our party member ordered steak and egg. We waited and waited the order never came. Tables around us who arrived later has already gotten their steak and egg. Especially we saw that a table of 2 who did not wait in-line got seated right away because they know the waitress. They also got their steak and egg order right away as well. We asked the waitress several times and they just tell us it’s coming. We suspect that they might’ve given our order to the two who did not wait in line. Although it’s common in Chinese restaurants, but they should at least replace our order right away. They never did, not until I gave a fit, they brought out the order right away. We know they just took someone else’s order to give to us because we order well done, they gave us medium rare. So frustrated. Will never go back. There are many other choices here in SGV that will have better customer service and same great value.

So sad. The Baked Seafood Casserole was sub-par. The cheddar wasn’t spread out evenly, the cream sauce had 0 to little taste, and the onions? Damn, why are there huge chunks of sweet onion in the casserole?! The calamari was tasteless, and the fish filet were meh. I was so disappointed. The Udon Seafood noodles were disappointing as well. The noodles literally fell apart in your mouth, and didn’t have that chewy satisfaction that you’d expect. It was also tasteless, and my bf and I had to add salt to all our food. The Beef Hot Pot was the only redeemable food there. It was really good, but the rest of the food really dampened our experience. GOTOTASTYGARDENINSTEAD.

Should have known better than put faith in yet another Chinese restaurant in MP. Came here on a Sat night and even w the lowest expectations we still ended up walking out before finishing ordering. First warning sign, upon entering, we noticed JJHK café smelled like mildew and as if on queue, the 3 year old in our group started shouting«peew! it’s stinky in here!» Gotta love the honesty in kids. To be fair we still tried to order but this is pretty much the verbatim of what transpired: Me: escargot please Waiter(w energy and enthusiasm of a corpse): No escargot. Me: Chef special ong choy please Waiter(w even less enthusiasm): no ong choy Me: stir fry broccoli w garlic then! Waiter w utter annoyance: no garlic. We have just broccoli w oyster sauce only With that last comment, we decided to forever severe our short 5 second relationship with JJ.

Good food at decent price. Efficient service without being rude. 2 things can make it better: take care of the stinky bathroom and more choice for healthy conscious customers.

Hubby and I came here this week after a Dodger game that let out close to about 11 pm. He reminded me that this café is open until 4 am, so off we went! I had not been to this restaurant for over 2 years because the last time I came, the service was very poor. However– word of the street says that there is a new owner now. And this restaurant’s service was great today and the food was DELICIOUS. When we got in, we noticed that they had a «late night» menu… where things were priced very well. So we ordered two dishes from there and one appetizer from their regular menu. The crazy thing is they seem to do EVERYTHING n don’t have a primary focus. This is like an Asian diner… but I love it. Of course hubby ordered the Orange Tea. It was my first time having it — I really enjoyed it. Pleasantly surprised… Will def. come back again soon.

This place well deserves a 5 star review… But it was a little dirty when i got to my table. There was still some rice left on the edge of the table from the previous person… gross. Other than that i order the Australian Rib Eye which was pretty good. Their lemon ice tea is whatevers, ledos café’s lemon ice tea is still the best.

Four stars for food and Lennon iced tea! One off for hit or mid service and parking. Depending on what time I go, I either get the baked pork chop over fried rice(lunch and dinner) or the sole filet(breakfast). Sole filet comes with tarter sauce, two eggs, and slices of orange. The simplicity of this dish is so amazingly good! Baked pork chop over fried rice is amazing! If you’re on a diet or on a cut, do NOT get this heaven on a plate! They fry rice with eggs and put it on the bottom of the dish. Then slather it with a tomato based pasta sauce. Top that with four pieces of big pork chops and then drench it with cheese and bake it in the oven! Trust me when I say that I need to be wheelbarrowed out after this dish. Heh. Worth. LOL Service is okay. Every once in a while it takes a while to flag someone down because they’re busy talking or busy in general. Parking can be a pain in the butt. Street parking can be found, but make sure you check signs for street sweeping. Their lot is shared with an apartment I believe so the lot is restricted. You may have to go downstairs. But going downstairs is an even bigger pain because the lot below is just as small and 20x smellier.

This is one of my favorite cafes. Because it’s always filled with Asians, we can be very loud all the time. The servers are always busy and on the move but service is still slow. The indo fried rice here was good! It’s probably what I’ll order here every time. It mildly spicy, very flavorful and it was really filling to the point where my girlfriend and I barely finished it… And trust me, I can eat a looooot. On another time, I remembered eating steak and eggs here where the steak was too rare for a medium rare, but it’s fine. Would come back!

Open til 4am so it’s perfect for late night munchies or after a night of drinking! Get the indo fried rice($ 9.25)! It’s a huge portion and comes with a perfectly fried egg and big pieces of shrimp. Pop the yolk and mix it in with your rice, yummm. Oh and I guess they started giving out this free corn soup/chowder but it really was no good lol

My friend recommended me to try this place, so another friend and I decided to check it out. The service was Asian, as in they took us in, gave us a booth and menus, and left. They do give a free drink during lunch time though, the black lemon HK tea is my favorite. It was pretty hard to decide what to get as the menu is very extensive and not everything is pictured, but thanks for my friend’s recommendation I got the Indo Fried Rice and a Chow Mien dish. The chow mien was good, but it wasn’t anything special. The Indo fried rice was pretty good though, and came with a small sunny-side up egg in the middle. The portion sizes were huge! You really get your money’s worth here. I would come back.

Owners have changed as of December 2015. Prices have gone up since the last time I came. — Curry Chicken — $ 8.50 — Still good! — Grilled Beef Short Ribs — $ 8.95 — Get it well done or it moos back at you. — Baked Seafood w/Cream Sauce — $ 9.25 — I get no onions, they overload it when it is in there. — Grilled Pork Chop & Chicken Steak — $ 8.95 — Tried the black pepper sauce, still prefer mushroom. — Indo Fried Rice — $ 9.25 — That fried egg! Orange Iced Tea and Corn Soup is still the best café lunch combo you can get in 626.

If you are craving authentic Chinese food, then you’ve come to the right spot! This place is open late until 4 am, so it’s perfect for those late night munchies. The Indo fried rice is a nice twist with lots of flavor over the regular fried rice. It’s more soy sauce based so it is a bit saltier. Cornish hen wasn’t really worth getting because it’s smaller than most Cornish hen that I have had. Honey walnut shrimp is my all time favorite! You honestly can’t go wrong with this dish. Pork chop cutlet curry tasted like rubber and was really hard to chew. The rice was cold and was not even fresh. There was barely any curry on it. I think they might have forgotten this since it took so long to come out. The food here is reasonably priced and are served in decent portions for their price. I wouldn’t drive out of my way here for the food, but it’s a convenient late night Chinese restaurant when you have your ethnic cravings that late.

A pit stop at JJ’s was a must after a night of clubbin’. It’s like you wanna go there just so you can have a second party after the party. because its a sure fact that almost everyone you partied with at the club will end up at some sort of a café. JJ closes around 4am and I think because of this the food is never ever fresh. How can I expect fresh food from a Chinese restaurant to begin with right? You’re right my expectations are too high. but I gotta say though their udon noodles gives you a soury after taste and their Indo Fried rice looked dramatically oily… Nothing beats nostalgia!

Wanted to try this place again, and I just can’t get myself to enjoy anything here. The owner/manager lady or whoever she is, is loud and obnoxious! I understand that most Asian restaurants take their lunch breaks together at the customers dining area but when you want to yell at your employees about having issues with their schedules not coinciding with work, please take it to the back! No one enjoys hearing someone get yelled at while eating. Smh Also, my dad ordered a grass jelly drink without milk. The waiter brought us the grass jelly drink with an entire cup of milk and a few pieces of grass jelly. C’mon… The bartender then looked at me because I asked to change it. It’s not our fault that your waitress messed up and didn’t pay attention to what we wanted(she was talking to other coworkers while taking down our orders). Rude. So my sister and I ordered the Hawaiian fried rice to share and my dad got the spare rib on rice noodles. The fried rice came out first and the pineapple bits tasted like expired canned pineapples that was microwaved. Plus, the rice wasn’t flavorful at all! Add some sodium on to that rice please! Lastly, my dads rice noodles were pretty good. Didn’t know it came with chili peppers so we were kind of disappointed that it was sort of spicy. Meh. Still tasty though. P. S.- If you look at one of my pictures, there is a waiter that takes orders while resting his knees on a hair! Who does that?! That’s so damn rude! I’ve never been to Hong Kong but if this is how they do customer service then I sure as hell wouldn’t tip at all! Common sense dude!
