A Taste of Monterey – Wine Market & Bistro

Great place to try a flight of wine and small snacks. The atmosphere and views of the bay are Amazing.
I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed the location and wine each time.
Give it a try when your on Cannery Row.

First time visiting Monterey area, bought a groupon for reserve wine tasting for 2, all local wines. Fantastic wines! Even ones I am normally not crazy about we’re goooood. Scott was informative regarding the wines. Ocean view was a plus! No chairs or stools when we were there… No big deal though.

Fine wines, light appetizers, and an amazing view of Monterey Bay… what else can you ask for?! When your done walking around Cannery Row of taking in the Monterey Bay Aquarium, this is the place to go before starting your evening. Obviously you can come here after the sunsets, but the view isn’t going to be as great. Classy but slightly touristy, the seats are comfortable and the waiting staff friendly. Order a bottle (or two), sit and relax!
The only reason I didn’t give ATOM 5 stars is the ‘sommelier’ staff has repeatedly been lacking in wine knowledge and overall friendliness. Now I know I am probably spoiled from my experiences in the Napa /​Sonoma valleys, but when your that close to ‘wine snob’ county you need to be on-​point.

Beautiful views! Huge selection of wine! Small plates/​Apps if you want to dine in; small menu, but the food is pretty good. If you’re apart of the Wine Club you get free weekly tastings, as well as 2 bottles of wine, which is a amazing!

Nice spot in what seems to be a sea of touristy locations. It’s a bit hard to find as you must walk through an indoor mall area, but once you get there it is worth it.
The views are the best part about this place. As long as you order a bottle over $ 25, then there is not corkage fee. The wine was delicious, the service was excellent, and the appetizers were tasty and not overly priced.
A solid choice for afternoon libations with friends.

Got the groupon for two wine flights and a cheese plate. It was a really great deal for what we got, its first come first serve seating…“all tables have an ocean view”. Quotes because let’s be real, you want to sit next to the window but aren’t guaranteed that with the groupon. We got the comfy chairs by the window and saw a dolphin swim by so that was awesome. Also ordered artichoke soup and the goat nachos and were very surprised at how delicious they were. The nachos are enough for a party of 6 so be warned. Jacob was a great server.

My love for this place has no boundaries. The only reason why I found this gem was through Groupon. My fiancé and I enjoyed wine tasting, cheese plate, soup and Brie. The food was delicious with an ocean view seating. We will come back.

Came here on a Saturday– it wasn’t too busy because there was a huge event the same day in Monterey but we wanted one of the small couch/​chairs by the window and they were all taken. So we sat at a table and the staff kept an eye when one freed up, let us know and helped us move! It was so nice especially since I know how inconvenient it can be when your tables moves. But this was a lovely place! Decent pricing, good food and awesome view! We saw a whale and some otters!

Tried emailing the business to let them know about our dissatisfaction as we’ve been here numerous times! Unfortunately I never wrote a stellar review for all the times we’ve been here, but we’re always had amazing service from (I forget her name)) and spent lots of money on their food and now? Service at minimal and prices are up. Sad. Used to be a favorite spot of ours when we were in the neighborhood. No more. We were going to bring friends and family… Nevermind! Thank you tho for all the great times you have given us! Really appreciated it! Always had the best seats and the food was great! I will remember those memories, amazing! The views were amazing and ambience everything was awesome. We will always remember. Thank you :)

The view and the promo on Unilocal makes it OK otherwise the wines I tried here were sub par. The prices are surprisingly high for this class of wines and one could do a lot better even at a local grocery chain. The staff is OK and does try to engage. I can see it being popular mainly due to the view otherwise there are better offerings around.

This place has huge potential because of the location and view over the bay. The menu, staff, and stemware needs fine tuning. All of our food was mushy and too salty. I think the salads were the best, as well as meatloaf sliders. I have pictures of almost all the food we ordered for our enthusiastic party of 8.
All drinks come in the same glass, and servers just aggressively splash it in as if pouring Kool aid, for the first pour. After that, you pour yourself. It’s not Jordan, our servers fault, that he has not been trained how to pour, or suggest which wines to pair with which food. The management here needs to visit any place in Napa or Sonoma, to see how food and wine should be presented.
Please see the picture of how my sparkling was dumped into the glass, no flutes here. Our sparkling wine was served warm, in a plastic gel filled cozy. Maybe management here does not know that traditionally, wines meant to be served cool, arrive in an ice bucket. We ordered just the one and only unimpressive sparkling, Cobblestone, some Chardonnay by the glass, and a bottle of Morgan Pinot. I had not heard of most of the wineries on their list so was curious but servers didn’t offer any information.
We wanted to try this place because of the location, and the 50% off tasting, but that can only be used in the bar area, not tables where you want tapas and table service.

The view was the greatest part of the tasting. As far as value, we did the Groupon for two flights and a cheese platter. I think it was a good choice, as we were there for quite a while and enjoyed the three pours and the 6 snack items they brought. The flight comes with a side of crackers too. The service was ok, we were pretty much left to our own, which was fine, but we did decide to grab lunch elsewhere as the wait and the selection were factors that made us want to move on.
I’d say its a nice thing to do for a date or at least to try once while you’re visiting Cannery Row.

Cuuuuuuuute place! This review is for the wine tasting only.
First, they have a Unilocal check in deal for half off tasting (Normally $ 20, $ 10 with Unilocal check in) so definitely use that. They also have a wine club that’s 2 bottle per month (one red and one white) so if you’re local and want wine variety, try that.
They pour wines from all over the region here, and we were not disappointed.
Staff was knowledgeable and friendly, with just the right mix of chatting and leaving us alone to enjoy the view and the wine.
And the view, oh the view! Standing at the wine bar you have a gorgeous ocean view. I am so glad we bought a place down here. I honestly am considering joining their wine club just so I have a reason to come here and enjoy wine with that view.
Definitely worth a visit (or many). They also have table and food, and were kid friendly. There is also a cute little boutique area with wine gifts and tools and whatnot. Check this place out.

I bought a groupon for $ 28 which was good for 2 wine flights with an ocean view. First off, the view is absolutely stunning! You sit in these comfy chairs while watching the waves crash against the rocks in the Monterey bay. Very soothing!
Since the groupon was good for 2, I chose the white wine flight while my boyfriend chose the Cabernet. The wine flights came with the chef’s choice of 3 cheeses along with a few other snacks on the board such as dried mangos, dried ginger, and ratatouille. Our server insisted we drink the wine from left to right as the taste gets bolder that way. I definitely loved both the cheese board and the wine! The flavors from each are unique in their own ways, but I ended up playing favorites and buying the bargetto bottle Togo!
Nothing but good vibes here! I’ll be back!

We sat near the window so we got a great view of the ocean! I can hear the ocean and birds while I enjoy some wine and cheese. Perfect!
In addition to the wine and cheese, we also got the hummus which was also good! We enjoyed everything! No complaints!

How can you go wrong with wine tasting and a beautiful view? One of the other nearby tasting rooms had recommended that I check out A Taste of Monterey, since they offer tastings of all local wines. Because it’s upstairs, above all of the Cannery Row souvenir shops, without the recommendation, I’m not sure if I’d ever have found this on my own.
While there’s a seated restaurant area, I did my tasting at the bar, which had a magnificent view of the Monterey Bay. While the wines were good (just good), the view really made the experience! The staff is also very friendly, which may be the other factor that would drive me back.

This place was amazing! We had just done a full day at the aquarium and were in search of a place to kick back and have a nibble and sip. We were almost going to C bar but they weren’t as close to this bar that caught our eye high above the sea with large glass windows.
To Unilocal I went and found that this gem was open so we strolled over. We climbed up the steps and here we were; A Taste of Monteray.
We were there around 3:00 on a Friday and there weren’t a ton of people there but there was a good few people at the bar. They have proper tables, some next to the window, but we opted for the most cozy seats. They had nice little mini love seats right at the window. The view was 10 stars!
We ordered a couple of beers and the white garlic prawns. If you want wine definitely make sure you check in and get the Unilocal offer! When we are in back in town this will be our go to spot… With a view like that how can you pass it up?
