This is not a museum. Its a for profit business. The man running the place is an asshole. He demanded money to stamp our paper proving we were here because, «you’re doing it for more money so I want some too.» If he was polite it wouldn’t be a problem, but his rude behavior was unjustified. Dont go here!

I was looking for a photo of Pacific Grove Lover’s Point area and everyone recommend I go see Mr. Pat Hathaway. Wow! This is the place to visit if you are looking for special picture of the Monterey area or San Francisco. His collection of historical photos are the best. Sorry to say, I did not find the picture I was looking for but was happy to visit California Views.

Wow, I’m surprised I’m first to review. Pat’s collection of images includes virtually all the iconic images of Monterey. His store(and website) is a treasure trove of interesting prints — not just of Monterey and the local area, but much of California. Images from his collection appear all over the place in town(most of the plaques along Cannery Row explaining the history around you feature images from his collection). I’ve bought a bunch of prints off him over the last couple of years, and keep bumping into him at various historic events. I know he provides images to the local maritime museum too. If you get chance, go visit the store and spend a while trawling through the racks of prints in his small store — if you’re anything like me, you’ll find one or more that you feel the need to buy.
