Great staff in a gray location at NPS. The exquisite Herman Hall is Very historic and slightly rustic. You won’t be needing A/C, but anything else you need is a phone call to the front desk, very accommodating.

This place makes me so grateful for my husband’s 20 years of military service(you have to be active duty or retired to have access to the facility). Our stay at the Naval Postgraduate School hotel was fantastic. The historic nature of the property and grounds is just incredible. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and professional; if they wouldn’t have been located in a temporary trailer I would have thought it was Ritz Carlton check-in. Helpful and very, very friendly. The rooms include a small kitchenette(microwave, little fridge, two burner electric cooktop, sink, and place settings for two), a nice washroom, and comfortable bed. Only $ 50 per night, no tax! There’s also a historic bar downstairs in Hermann Hall called the Trident Room; definitely worth a visit if your staying at the hotel. And of course, its a military property so there’s a NEX, gas station, tennis courts, walking paths, a gym, etc., which are nice to have readily available. Take the time to walk through Hermann Hall and the grounds around the west and east wing buildings; the architecture is awesome. And listen for the peacocks and geese. Fun stuff!

I can’t believe this place exists… it’s amazing. Herman Hall is an old historic building. Check out the ballroom on the main floor, it is amazing and would be a perfect spot for a wedding or large event. Its just breathtaking… the grounds and patio are also beautiful. If you are have PCS orders in or out of town, they can guarantee you a reservation in a HUGE — and when I say huge, I mean huge suite for only $ 55 a night. Regular rooms are $ 45 a night. If you are in the area for leisure, you can call 7 days in advance for Space A. Unfortunately, they will not accept pets at this hotel. We reserved a suite on Space A for a week while family was visiting to handle overflow… our small apartment just couldn’t accommodate us all. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, high ceilings and very elegant. The living room has a nice couch, breakfast table and television with DVD player. The ally kitchen has 2 burners, microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. You have enough kitchen utensils, cookware, and service for 2 people. The bedroom has a nice size bed with nice linens and a large down comforter. Very comfy… There is a restaurant that serves three meals as well as a bar that is open a little later. Why spend more money on a chain motel…

Wow. Henderson Hall(old Del Monte hotel) is an historical landmark, or should be. Walked around for an hour just admiring the building, architecture, landscaping. The room was giant with a window overlooking the courtyard. Fridge and microwave in a small alcove/closet. Lots of storage. Good rate. Cool bar in basement w/great woodwork and tons of memorabilia, gigantic flatscreen, decent pizza.

If you’re coming to Monterey and are elibible to stay in NAVYLODGING, you have to stay here. Elegent rooms, HUGE ceilings, and incredible old(renovated) building. The BOQs are the old Del Monte Hotel, and co-located with the Naval Postgrad School’s headquarters. Our room had a kitchenette and was a STEAL of a price. They don’t accept pets, but there is a restaurant and bar(frequented by the NPS students) downstairs in the basement. There is the post gym next door, NEX across the street(with gas station), and post-office nearby. Everything you could need, and 2 miles from downtown Monterey. BTW — the resturant(El Prado) makes the BEST made-to-order sandwiches i’ve ever had. HUGE, fresh, and CHEAP — get the avocado, it «makes» the sandwich. The Del Monte Café is actually the coffee /snack shack near the academic buildings

My Uncle was a student at the Naval Postgraduate School here and met my Aunt while she worked here. Naturally this would be where they’d get married. The fortress like structure us in on a 25 acre plot overlooking the ocean and surrounded by trees and nature at its finest. There a few different rooms depending on the size of your ceremony/reception. The history and scale of the grounds are pretty overwhelming buy hey, if you’re getting married, might as well blow it out right?
