I went to Dr. Shin last week for the first time and I really liked him. I can’t say that I am a fan of going to the dentist, but I was pleased with his services. He is extremely thorough and will spend time with you showing you what he looks at and what he has found. I will admit that looking at the minute details of the flaws in my mouth is not high on my list, it is important to understand what he is seeing so you can take action. I did find this a bit strange, but he has you watch a quick video on how he does his evaluations. You have to appreciate someone that is passionate about what they do and wants to educate his patients. I like this but I can see how others may find it off putting. At the end of the day, you are responsible for your mouth and don’t blame your dentist because you have not taken care of your teeth. He is just trying to clean up your mess. The staff is wonderful and the office is beautiful. Dr. Shin embraces technology and clearly stays up on research and what is happening in the world of dentistry. He takes the time to get to know you and understand your dental needs. He also offers options for ongoing care, which is nice(i.e. whitening, nightguards, etc.) I did not give him a five because I was expecting to go in and get my teeth cleaned, even as a first time patient. However, he did a full assessment and then I am going back for a cleaning. I am not sure if this is related to how is he paid for insurance or what, but that should have been communicated better up front. I had to actually ask about getting my teeth cleaned and I find that very inconvenient. That cost you a star, Dr. Shin.
Happy R.

Dr. Shin has a very bad bedside manner. We know the customer is not always right, but the customer is always the customer, not this time. Here’s a tip, don’t use the word filthy when referring to someones teeth. You lost a good customer.
