Online states they are open until 8. Showed up at 740 and the kid is sitting on the table doing nothing with the doors locked. I drove from marina so now it’s a waste of gas and my time. I recommend going to any other sports shop to purchase a lid.

Sunny I lost my favorite Oakland A’s cap about two months ago, which I had purchased a few years back from Lids in Westfield Shopping Mall of San Francisco While walking around the Cannery Row area, my husband and I saw this Lids store. I decided to stop in to see if they have the Oakland A’s cap similar to the one I had. There was another Oakland A’s cap that I liked, a solid gold colored one at a price of $ 35.99. Lids had a special perk going on at the time. Buy one cap and get the second one of equal or less in value for 50% off. Okay, that’s a deal. The one cap that was $ 29.99 cost me $ 14.99…no problemo… I can live with that. My total purchase was about $ 55.00(including tax). I like the merchandise that Lids offers, but the customer service somewhat leaves a lot to be desired. It’s either a hit or miss. Two employees(a young man and a young woman) were dealing with the merchandise and the cash register duties. They were friendly and pleasant, but the female employee was not quite attentive. I purchased the two caps and was quite happy until I got home to Alameda. Sure she put my purchased items in their bag; however, the security clamps were not removed… aarrgghh! Their door did not have a sound detector to beep or chime to warn the customer the security clamps were still attached to the caps. My husband removed one of the clamps with no problem. The other clamp exploded, resulting in a messy green slimy stain on the solid gold colored cap. We had to soak the baseball cap in cold water and Oxy detergent.

Each associate held a personal convo for the full 5 minutes I was in the store, one also apparently was too hungry to greet customers, as he scarfed down food while conversation at the register with the rest of them, so yes that was me that knocked multiple items on to the floor before exiting.

Good selection BUT this store tried to do a ‘bait and switch’ on me. The price of the cap had been marked down 50%. When I brought it to the register, it rang up as full price. When I brought this to the clerk’s attention, he didn’t know what to do. He asked his manager to come over who looked at it and said that it was mismarked and they had to charge full price. I said that the San Jose Mercury News just had a consumer article that said that it is illegal to charge the customer the wrong price when it is clearly marked. The manager said she couldn’t do anything about it since it was mistakenly priced. I said that this was not the only hat marked at this price — all of the other hats in this color were similarly marked 50% off. The manager had the other clerks immediately grab those hats and told them to remove the discount price tag. To get them refocused, I said that they needed to charge the price marked. It took them another 10 minutes to figure out how to do that and there was a lot of mumbling. Too bad that such a nice store has such horrific customer service and that the staff is not empowered to «do the right thing» with a customer transaction. Another customer was in the store… this looked bad. I have mentioned this story to a number of my friends. Bad word of mouth after this horrible experience… I won’t be back!

After searching all the Lids’ and Champs Sports and Foot Locker’s in the Bay Area I finally found the exact hat I was looking for! All I wanted all this time was my NY Yankee’s Inaugural hat! To my surprise they had it… and guess what… they even had it in my size! Let me not forget to mention that just like any other Lids the store is small and stacked with hats gallore… I mean floor to ceiling(literally)
