Gone. There’s a friendly locksmith there who recommended Monarch Knitting on 329 Central in Pacific Grove not too far away. There’s also Knitting By The Sea on Fifth Ave near Junipero in Carmel-By-The-Sea.

Popped in to grab some things for a new project. Having no idea what I needed and the shop owner was really helpful an friendly. Will be back again when I need more yarn :)

Dawn helped me(a ‘not yet’ knitter) select some lovely yarn for my cousin. Even bought a little yarn for me. Can’t wait to wear my beanie! :)

I visited this shop on a trip down to Monterey, and within seconds of walking in I felt more at home there than I did in my own local yarn shops. The shop owner is friendly and welcoming.(Shockingly a lot of LYS owners are not) The shop itself has a fairly small selection but it’s very curated, the colors and the fiber are fantastic! I would definitely go again whenever I visit Monterey.

Very, very nice owner with lots of creativity and charm. But, very dirty shop! Lots of coffee cups, food containers, etc in check out area. Horribly dirty windows. As far as yarn selection, she carries Lorna’s Laces, and some great others — but small amount of stock. Limited selection of needles. Dawn was very enthusiastic, you can’t help but to like her. I wanted to ask her to hand me some winded and a garbage bag so I could help tidy up. Go to this store if you are in Monterey, just to meet this cute woman!

A lovely little find in Monterey. They have a limited, but nice selection of yarn ranging from basic to more lush and spendy. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. Look forward to visiting again soon!

Small shop, but I still managed to find a couple skeins that I wanted. The owner was helpful and nice, and the shop was very comfortably put together.

Unlike the rest of the reviewers, I can’t say good things about the extremely small selection at this shop. The place seemed nearly empty. I doubt there’s sweater quantities of anything. There wasn’t a wide range of colors, brands or fibers. Nothing locally spun or dyed. It is quite close to Cannery Row, so it’s convenient for tourists, I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

I had a few hours to kill in Monterey one week day and quickly looked up the nearest yarn store. This place is a gem! After a nice walk along the recreational trail, I arrived at The Twisted Stitch. It’s a small shop, but there is a generous portion of it occupied by a sitting area, very inviting. The selection is small, but carefully chosen and truly lovely. My local LYS is a great store with a huge selection, but in all the years I’ve been going there I don’t feel as at home there as I did within the first 10 minutes of stepping into The Twisted Stitch. That is largely attributed to the owner, Dawn. She is really a kindred knitting soul. She knows her stuff and loves to share. I wish I lived closer, but will definitely stop in the next time I’m in the Monterey area.

I make it a habit whenever I visit someplace new to check out the local knitting shops. This one is about 2 ½ hours from home. And I actually considered it somewhat serendipitous that I found it without even looking. I stopped to go in with my 3 year old. This was our first stop off from our trip and of course the baby needed to go potty. I asked if there was a restroom and the answer was a very cold not for the public with a «how dare you ask» attitude, there is a hotel at the bottom of the hill. Ok lady the baby needs the bathroom so sorry asked sheesh. Needless to say I have no idea what their selection is like because after I walked my 3 year old 4 blocks to the restroom I didn’t feel like I wanted to spend any money in that store.

Popped in while I was on a walk and had a nice visit with Dawn. She is very friendly and seems to know her yarn. She was helpful and eager. The prices seemed reasonable and I got some yarn and hand lotions. The selection is very teeny-tiny though, but hopefully she will improve this quickly.

Love this yarn shop! Dawn is so helpful and encouraging. She doesn’t have an overwhelming or huge stock, but she does have quality materials and will always help you find what you need. I prefer it this way, it’s too hard to sort through bins that are stuffed full of yarn. She’s also always happy to help if you need it.

Small, but nicely organized yarn shop. Friendly, knowledgable owner. Selection is small, but the shop is fairly new. Nice to have a yarn shop located near the aquarium and hotels by Cannery Row.
