What do you do with tons of land, and no one near? Well in texas it could only be a gun range or Golf course, but a golf resort in Big Bend type woods? Located in a place far far away from civilization, accesed through roads that have no names, instead just numbers winding through a national park depth of woods. The Blaketree Golf course is a fun and difficult design with nice greens. Not the most breath taking views, yet it has enough difficulties to keep everyone focused. But be prepared to make this an all day affair, as this place seems further than Alaska since this was an intown outing. However when a course is nice, there wont be much complaints the long drive home. Would be 4.5 stars, but damn it’s a long ride.

Holy crap, I’ve never had fairways do so much to move my ball forward. They are pretty hard, so they serve like a cart path in many places. Blind, challenging, elevated shots, winding paths, lighting fast greens and absolute silence. This is a great place that hasn’t gotten too expensive and is in a serene and beautiful environment with plenty of trees, water and a challenging, but not exhausting course. The driving range is weird though — right in the middle of the course without nets. We actually had to stop practice shots because an idiot wanted to play through. It’s quite a drive to get there, but it’s worth a trip if you golf around Houston. I’ll definitely be back.
