This DIllard’s a confused jumble of «department store» and bar/disco/nightclub. First, the staff is generally quite good. They work hard, are very friendly and helpful(90%) of the time. There are a few that won’t lift a finger to help, but they are the exception. The store however is another story. They are finishing a remodel; a very prolonged and very loud remodel. This has been going on for MONTHSANDMONTHS. Great, right? Not so much. Now it’s a «pretty» Dillards outwardly, but is not a pleasant place to shop. MUSICMUSICMUSIC!!! It is blasting from 10 different areas. Sounds like a nightclub or a bar. It is especially bad on the first floor around the cosmetics department(MAC is the worst offender, but not the only one). Horrible! Add to this that sales are rare and rather pitiful. They are jokey compared other department store sales and then they have that lovely 3-day return policy. That’s right THREE-DAYS. Wonder how long Nordstrom, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and the like would last if they implemented a 3-day return policy. They’d go out of business! Dillard’s is the ONLY department store in many towns(sorry, I don’t count Kohl’s, JCPenney and the like as a departent store) so they get away with unbelieveable, ridiculous policies. It seems quite clear«management» is asleep at the wheel. They trend HEAVILY toward the men’s department. Set up well, easy to move around in – yes, men are apparently the market for this Dillards. In women’s, it’s a pitiful selection of brands for old women. Nearly Geranimals for old ladies. Just sad. And the clothes are crammed in on top of each other. To the Dillard’s management: Go to Nordstrom store. Spend some time in one, walk around, watch & listen. You’ll get the idea. Dillard’s is so loud and so annoying, I make a list, go in, get what i need and get out!!! FAST. No lingering. No shopping around. It’s an expensive outward makeover without fixing the corporate mentality and philosphy of the store. What a waste.

After spending all day in Birmingham and Leeds looking for business casual clothing for my new job, I arrived at Dillard’s in Montgomery, AL. This was the last day of tax-free weekend and Dillard’s made the smart decision to extend its operating hours for the day. This meant I had more time for one of the best shopping experiences in a long time. I was greeted by Paul S. in men’s dress shirts. Paul was very very helpful in helping me choose the right size shirts, that also happened to be on sale. He then help me find some coordinating pants. Paul was very honest and not just looking to just make his commision. I highly recommend Paul for all your business and business-casual needs.

Not the top quality of service you would expect. Sales are alright in knowledge of product, but overall product is lacking as a department store.

The Rep at the Lancôme counter, Mary, was not helpful or knowledgeable. I came to make an exchange but because of her attitude I ended up returning my purchase and took my money to a different counter.

Clean, organized space with friendly and helpful customer service. I shopped in the shoe section during a fantastic sales event. The service in shoes was excellent. A male staffer was prompt in helping me get shoes to try on, along with the awesome Killer Kushionz. THE best shoe inserts ever. In the handbag department, I also received prompt and helpful assistance as well. I am not a fan of shopping for apparel and the like, especially in huge department stores – it can all get very oeverwhelming.. . However, the staff here made it much easier for me.
