Fab food find. Have been past a number times but. wrong timing. Today in for breakfast and am most impressed with everything about. A small select market, wine shop and diner. Deli and buffet and custom orders here, which I did. Having eggs, link sausage, grits, hashbrowns with hot salsa and readymade coffee. Sitting window seat streetside. All seats are. My new fav here Montgomery.

HOTFOOD: One of the best meat &3’s in Montgomery. The food is always good and the menu changes often. The only problem about the food is that if you come here for lunch, you might be sleep at your desk by 2 o’clock. GROCERY: A nice small selection of meats, produce, and seasonings. I’m a fan of the store brand seasoning. BEER&WINE: A great selection in a city that has had a conflicted history with alcohol. If you are try to find a particle craft beer, this is the first place you need to visit. There is also a growing select of local beers on the shelf.

This quaint market/deli/wine shop is A little bit of sunshine in the middle of a seemingly sketchy neighborhood. This is a small, eclectic market that has a large room filled with wine, a large selection of foreign and domestic beers, frozen foods, fresh produce, a hot food bar, a salad bar and fresh, to-order sandwiches. I was very impressed by the eclectic offerings. We ordered from the hot bar. My friend ordered a pork chop and sides(Mac and cheese and green beans); while I ordered baked chicken, Lima beans and baked sweet potato slices. OMG the food tasted amazingly. Everything was seasoned just right and was not too dry or salty. The food prices were reasonable because the portions were so large. My one dinner(baked chicken with two sides) could be divided into two complete meals. There was a small area where patrons could dine and we did just that as we watched the hustle and bustle of the establishment. There is a wine shop attached to the market. It seems that they have events and tastings at regular times. After I finished my meal, I browsed the international beer selection, the wine market and the fresh produce area. I can’t say enough good things about the food, service and atmosphere of this cozy, neighborhood establishment.

Once again another spot I’ve been to 100 times during my undergrad years & haven’t had a chance to write a review. Well… here it is. If you’re looking for some good Southern comfort food… you’ve found it. The daily hot bar here is exceptional! They even have a website that list the daily hot bar selections. Baked, fried, & smothered meats & hearty side dishes. I always get my food to go & it’s always good. Sometimes I only get a plate of sides & I’m still satisfied. Some of my favorites are the turnip greens, wild rice, broccoli & cheese casserole, cabbage, & mixed veggies just to name a few! Now on the next side of the building in an extensive wine selection! Beer too but im not a beer fan. They almost have every wine you can think of…& if they don’t, depending on what it is… they’ll order it for you! The staff here is always very helpful in helping you select the perfect wine. Filet & Vine is definitely a little hidden treasure. Check them out if you’re ever in the area!

Fried chicken, mac & cheese & sweet potato casserole were tasty, though everything looked a bit old and dried out. The meat was good, but was as dried out as it looked(like it had been under the heat lamp too long). It seems a bit overpriced, but I’ll likely give them another shot.

I’m a good olé southern boy, still wear loafers with tassels. Filet & Vine never misses making me full of the best southern food around. Mac & cheese, corn muffins, friend pork chops. Love this place and the folks who work there. Really make you feel at home with their friendliness and home cooking.

I discovered this place a few years ago and it blew my mind. There’s an amazing selection of beers and wines to chose from, from all over the. The lunch has always been great! I bring many of my coworkers and out of town guests to this place for some great southern comfort food. The fried chicken breast, salmon croquet, & especially the fried grouper are delicioso! I also enjoy the broccoli casserole side and yams. They also offer some great cobblers and wash it down with some sweet tea. You can also pick up a great cut of beef or veggies to cook at home. Amazing stuff! Well worth it. A neighborhood gem!

I cannot actually say anything about the food yet because I did not eat there but I decided to stop in when I was down the street because so many people have mentioned this place. I was extremely impressed. There was a wide variety of beer and wine and the food looked really good. There was also a menu for sandwiches(cold and hot) and other items. There was an area to buy meats and it was also stocked with basic food items to purchase in order to have an entire meal ready to be prepared at home. I will be going back here for lunch or a quick dinner and several bottles of wine when I am not pregnant.

Fast service, excellent food always! All the meats and sides are amazing. The baked salmon, creamed corn, and jalapeño cornbread are my favorite. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

My favorite thing about living here is dropping in on Filet and Vine. It’s in Cloverdale and is pretty unique to Montgomery, nothing like it in the area. The wine selection is phenomenal and the prices are rather good. The hot bar isn’t bad either, go early because they run out. Prices of wine run from $ 10 to $ 300+ a bottle.

Surprisingly great stop along our road trip– we had sandwiches that were really good, and the sides and mac and cheese were yummy too. It’s a little overpriced, I felt, but I’m not familiar with the average lunch cost in Montgomery Alabama. The best thing about the store is the grocery section, we picked up Alaga Hot Sauce and are obsessed. The whole establishment is great to walk around, great wine selection too.

Stopped here on our way to Atlanta. It’s a deli & buffet. The feel is much like a world market/café but with more local fare & southern cooking. We ordered the fried chicken & country fried steak. The country fried steak was the leanest & tenderest I’ve ever had. The fried chicken was crispy yet moist. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The sweet potato casserole is amazing. The service is quick & efficient. Great lunch place. Fresh, fast & delicious.

The review and 5 stars is based on the beer selection only as I did not experience the food at this establishment. As someone who is a big fan of craft beer I really enjoyed the local selection available here as well as what the store offered from other areas. I am not from the area and have never had a selection of beer from the Alabama and surrounding regions, so being here was like being a kid in some kind of a store. One of the gentlemen working here was clearly as much of a fan as I am and was very helpful in directing me towards what he recommended from local craft brews. If you are in the area and looking for a great beer selection and have an appreciation for the craft beer scene, this is a must stop for you.

Just got in from Miami and found this restaurant on Unilocal and glad to say the reviews were right on! The food was delicious and the GREENBEANS! are the best I’ve had in forever. Sweet potato casserole was amazing. Glad I stopped here.

Filet and Vine(or Dirk’s as it is know by locals) is a lovely experience. They have a plethora of wine and beer options — which is great if you are looking for a special bottle and not just a boring Sutter Home or Bud Light– although they have those, too. Their hot bar is amazing. It has tons of Southern classic options(fried chicken, green bean casserole, Mac & cheese, sweet potatoes casserole, collard greens, cornbread. etc). Don’t let the hot food distract you, be sure to try the cold options too. Delicious salads, salsa, and pimento cheeses. I love this local, neighborhood staple. Just make sure you wear your comfy, stretchy pants because the food is tasty and you won’t want to leave anything on your plate– especially not the cornbread or sweet potatoes casserole #YUM.

I stopped in here for lunch on the long and boring drive between New Orleans and Atlanta. With four and a half stars on Unilocal,I figured this would be a slam dunk. Filet and Vine is actually a mini-mart /convenience store with a hot bar. There’s nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but the food was definitely stick-to-yer-ribs, doused-in-butter-and-covered-in-cheese, down home cookin’. If you’re not used to that kind of food or if you’re looking for lighter fare, this is probably not the place for you. I had a pulled pork sandwich and wasn’t very impressed. My partner had some mac and cheese, fried chicken, and collards and said it was alright. Other customers were piling their plates high and pigging out. I just… didn’t really get it. I’ll stop somewhere else on my next trip through central Alabama.

Needed to satisfy my craving for some Soooouuulll Fooood for lunch, so swung through here. Located in what looks to be an old drug/convenience store, the place is certainly unassuming. The hot bar was chock full of delicious looking tidbits. I decided to go with the fried chicken, and double the sides. A typical plate comes with one entrée, two sides, and a bread(either cornbread or dinner roll). For my sides, I went with turnip greens(smokey and delectible), black eyed peas(with a HUGE chunk of smokey in them), mac ‘n’ cheese(good, but not great), and sweet potato caserole(the perfect dessert). That plus a drink came to just over $ 15. The portions were generous and the food delicious. I would definitely come back to this local joint.

Absolute smash hit, delicious. Down home, real deal. Everything is delicious. It was sooo good, we had lunch there, and then got some more food to go to snack on later. Simply mouthwatering. And the service was great too, real friendly here. Terrific beer and wine selection. If you don’t like this place, there is something wrong with you.

This is the best place to get Deep South goodness while getting that Southern hospitality that most people have grown to love. I love coming here for the extensive wine and beer selections. There are wines and beers from all over the world, and the prices are not expensive. For Christmas, I was able to purchase an aged red wine on sale for $ 25. Not only does this place sells wine and beer, but customers can find great seasonings and condiments to compliment meats and veggies. if possible, you must purchase the Dirk’s seasoning. Although it is meat seasoning, I used it on my veggies. Being a Southern girl who loves to eat, I can’t resist the hot bar. The customer stands in a line and order food cafeteria style. Each time I’ve visited, there were all men in the back cooking and serving. Trust me ladies, there is nothing like a man who can cook :-) The first case has a variety of meats. My dining companion ordered fried fish, and I ordered the four veggie plate. I had the pleasure of experiencing the mac and cheese, cabbage, corn, and broccoli and cheese. The mac and cheese was extremely cheesy and delicious. I would return for the mac and cheese alone. The cabbage was seasoned perfectly, but I am used to cabbage being steamed longer. Although it wasn’t cooked hot I would’ve like, the cabbage tasted great. The corn was wonderful. The corn bring back memories of childhood. It tasted skillet fried with flour. The broccoli and cheese was another hit. The broccoli was steamed perfectly, and the cheese sauce was awesome. Today, I opted out of dessert, but I have had the apple cobbler, and it is some of the best. This is the place that I must eat at when I come back to Alabama. It has the perfect blend of what the South is known for– great food, great beer and wine, and great customer service.
