Went to My Place Sunday after church… as it is the only time it is open as a restaurant. I believe the rest of the time it is reserved for private parties and catering. Entering the place took me for a loop because the décor is in the vein of trying to be upscale and the outside and signage have you believing it is going to have a country flair like the old Cracker Barrel it was. Instead you walk in to red velvet ropes and a backdrop of a staircase. Everything is red and white and plenty of rose accents. It reminded me of several outdoor wedding receptions I’ve attended. There’s even a bar on the right when you enter. It caught me off guard, but then I remembered… its MAINLY for private parties and catering. Everyone was very courteous from the gentleman who opened the door to the hostess who sat us and the the young lady who I believe is the owner. I was very pleased with the staff as everyone was quite professional. The food was as advertised, good country cuisine: fried and baked chicken, ribs, meatloaf, fish fillets, catfish nuggets, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, Lima beans, green beans, yams, cornbread, etc. They even had a couple of cakes as well, for dessert. My only complaint in regards to the food was its temperature. There were several meat items that were cool when I tried eating them. The taste however was above average. All in all it seemed as this might have been a place I’d try again until I received the bill. The adult plate had to be $ 13-$ 15 and kids around $ 10. A family of 4 will be hard pressed to get out of there for less than $ 50 and that is a little much for Sunday after church lunch for me. A shame though, because I really liked the food taste. Apparently, it works for many as the parking lot always seems to be full when I pass by. I hope their business sustains enough to drop prices a little. I could even see keeping the adult price the same and drop kids price in half or install another tier for below 13. One of those ways might get me to frequent more often.
