Papa’s On The Lake

AJ the bartender was quick and efficient serving me a couple of beers and a burger.
I liked the views here, and it’s obviously a big party spot at the right times. I ordered a «famous» burger. The bun was soft and slightly sweet. It had the taste of Hawaiian sweet bread, and the mouth feel of a British «bap» bun that I used to get in the UK. Good combo!
The bar itself was small, but the gathering tables were huge! I’d like to come back when this place is really hopping!

The only good thing about this restaurant is the location. If you like beer, they have that too! But besides that beware of the food. It is by far the worst food I have ever eaten. If they would improve on their food that place would be packed all the time. Too bad!

Came here for an after wedding party and was not pleased with the bar tenders. One of them through a fit because of something the other bartender did and she was not discrete about it and all her coworkers could tell she was upset about something so they were all hudled trying to listen to what happened. Very unprofessional, I felt very uncomfortable being there after experiencing that, then the other bartender was telling us that if we hurried up and left right when they closed at 12 we could make it to another bar that closed at 1. I looked it up and the bar he suggested closed at the same time they did. He was trying to kick us out just so he could clean up and leave early. Surprised they make any money for such bad service and trying to make customers leave early.

Went to Papa’s On The Lake yesterday afternoon and had a bad experience there. I tryed to send an email, but the «Submit» button wouldn’t work.

The only reason why I gave this place 1 star is because Unilocal made me. I had friends in town for the weekend to do some fishing and we decided to stop there for lunch. As we walked up, there were 2 gentlemen walking ahead of us. They were greeted and told about specials by a hostess cooking crawfish. When we got to the front we were not even acknowledged. We took note but continued to seat ourselves. We waited and waited until I finally went to the bar to get menus for my party. At this point no one has come to even take our drink order not to say someone will be with you shortly. The wait continued. We noticed other parties come in and seat and get waited as well as tables near us being attended to. Still after more than 30 minutes of not even being acknowledged we got up and left. On the way out I let a member of the waitstaff know that we were never waited on and to let manager know. He nonchalantly said OK. This was a horrible and embarrassing experience and being a member of the local community I will let everyone know of the poor service of this place. I’m writing this review while enjoying chips and dip from a friendly Tex-​Mex spot not too far down the lake. Will never go back!

This place has the best bacon cheeseburger ever. AJ makes the best adult beverages — definitely bartender extraordinaire

My burger was OK the service was OK but I guess we went on a Saturday around lunch time and they were all setting up for a benefit that was happening later in the day and we just came in at the wrong time. I would go back again but only if I was in the area and starving.

Big mistake. BIIIIIG MISTAKE. Oh goodness where do I begin. Not the place it used to be… Food was horrible. Drinks were horrible. Had to re order several drinks. Pump cheese on the nachos. This place is so bad it was quite comical. Do not come here!

We have a family of five at this establishment. It has taken us wait too long to get our food and to get service. There is only one server for approximately 50 tables with only one server. It’s 3 PM in the afternoon and we asked for the movie music to be turned down and the management said this is a bar not a restaurant.

We had some pretty tasty crawfish at a low price of $ 5.25/lb. Can’t beat the location. Live band (great rock band-«Texas T&T»), decent food, cold drinks, and friendly service. Even on a rainy/​wet day; it’s a great hang out. Where can one slurp down cold drinks, on the lake, play some volleyball, while listening to live music, cool off in the adult pool, and watch the game on one of the many screens. The only thing missing is that I’ve never experienced a «Wow» tasting item on the menu. Perhaps they want to encourage drinking and discourage eating. Been coming here for years and will continue.

Mackenzie is the best waitress here! We had a great time visiting here while staying on the lake a few weeks ago.

Nice location, good view of the lake but 90 mins to serve up an order for a starter and main course is downright ridiculous.
I would never really want to come back here or ever recommend to anyone.

It’s the hawt pink bar on the lake and me and my crew have been going there for years, I have been to all of the other bars on the lake, and still would rather go to Papa’s. The staff is super friendly, the food is awesome, the grilled chicken is my favorite, they have plenty of beer selections, what else could you ask for? I have been there on days when they are really busy and the bartenders and waitresses are super swamped, but even then, the service is pretty dang good. I’m a Papa’s guy and that will never change. The owner and his wife are super friendly and the staff as a whole, makes you feel right at home. I have had some bad service experiences there, but considering the workload and the crowd they are still above average then, all restaurant/​bars on the lake have good days and bad days, Besides even on the busiest of days, the service is better than some of the other places on slow days. If you asked me where to go, it would be that Hot Pink building on Lake Conroe, in fact I thank I’m going to go there for lunch today

STAY AWAY!!! This place is an absolute joke! Steak night is great as the steaks are outstanding. But, if you order a drink, the server asks if you want a single shot or a double shot. Be aware it does not mean a single or double shot, it means single or double the price. A single shot drink is $ 4.50 during happy hour and a double shot drink is $ 9.00. I can guarantee there were not two shots in the drink. We went to two high end steakhouses in Houston and didn’t pay $ 9.00 a drink for a double. It’s not about the money but the principal. There are many other places to go in this area with great food, better service, and much better drink prices.

Me and the wife went over half a dozen times. Good location with a view of the lake but the service was always terrible for us. We saw that the young customers got more attention and better service so we quit going there.

Love all the bartenders and the food is better than your regular bar food! This is our regular place we go to. The owner Perry is a great guy and has a great establishment.

Favorite spot in Conroe. Right on the lake, pool in the back, makes for a phenomenal atmosphere. I’ve always had a blast at Papa’s! The service is pretty good. It’s kind of a hit or miss, honestly. I’ve had some really great servers and some not so great ones.
Drinks are good and reasonably priced. As far as food goes, I’ve had the steak quesadillas which were amazing. The nachos were sub par and from feedback from friends I heard fish tacos weren’t too great either.
Another great thing about this place is there is a water sports rental right on site. We rented a pontoon, went inside had a few drinks and hung out by the pool while we waited for it to be ready. Very convenient. Just make sure if you’re drinking and hitting up the lake you wear a life vest :)

I love this place! Great place to party or sit by the water, relax, and eat! Great drinks and food with a boat dock!

Great food, great atmosphere, friendly waitress… Boat docks need some work. We will be back.

This place is amazing the location couldn’t be more perfect. It is right by lake Conroe with a beautiful view. They have a big open area, bar, games, a pool, and a big patio to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful day. That’s pretty cool having a pool inside the patio area and have a waitress get you drinks. It Makes you feel like you are on vacation. There is a place where you can rent jet skies for the day to take out and have a great time.
The food was okay not the best but it is satisfying I liked their cheese for their chips. We only drank 2 cokes and we were not planning on staying that long so when it was time to go our waitress disappeared. We wanted to pay and leave. I asked the other waitresses and instead if helping close my tab they asked me how my waitress looked like and if I knew her name. She never introduced herself and I described her to them and they went to go get her that took about good 10 minutes. When she finally came she gave us the bill and it was only $ 4 and I didn’t think she deserved a tip so I didn’t tip her. She was never there attending us. I payed and she looked at me like aren’t you going to give me a tip? Hahah well too bad the next time she should know to take care of her customers and they will take care of her.
Overall great place loved it. We need to go again to rent some jet skies.
