Pino’s Auto Grill just recently started coming to 4330 – 4350 East West Highway. I’ve seen them several times as I go out for lunch, so I decided today that I was going to try their fare. I purchased the Meatball Marinara sub and was pleasantly surprised. The next time I may ask for a bit more sauce on my sub, but they’ve made a fan out of me. Thanks Pino for coming to our for neck of the woods!

I wanted to like them. I really did. See, my job is having lunch trucks come to my job almost everyday, and Pino’s comes on Tuesday. They were out of french fries when I got there and out of most of their sandwiches. I was ordering an hour before they were scheduled to leave. So that was the first bummer. I just dont understand how an Italian truck only has minimal pasta choices. I settled with the Roast Beef, which was dry… The sandwich had soooo much potential. Bleh. Maybe If I would have come down earlier… Idk. Save your money.

It’s always nice when the man himself is the one serving you the food. I stopped by this food truck for the first time yesterday and was very pleased to meet Pinot himself. I had a meatball marinara sub for $ 7.00 and was very pleased. The flavors were bold and the ingredients were obviously fresh. I will return to this truck if given the opportunity.

Ninetta was on point, as were the fries. I agree with previous Unilocaler that said the sandwich roll was too plush — there is too much bread. The fries were SO good, not sure what was on it, but oh wow, it wasn’t just salt. Will be back!

I opted for the Ninetta($ 7): «juicy, thin steak, melted provolone, Italian peppers & onions, and house-made garlic mayo,» with a side of fries($ 2). It’s a generous helping of fries, coated before crisping for that textural crunch. Not sure where the crossover is happening, but caught a hint of meat grease in a few that were well-protected in from my wrapped sub in the styrofoam box. The sandwich roll is vaguely crusty and almost too plush– I could’ve been full without the fries since the bread-to-filling ratio is about 2:1. Steak was thin, neither dry nor juicy. Melty cheese kept the onion and pepper dice in place. Garlic mayo was underplayed hard, I could’ve frenched Edward Cullen without a problem. Three and a half stars. Cheerful, friendly service. The sizzling grill certainly drew in passersby with its aromatics. Follow @PinosAutoGrill on Twitter for location schedule and menu specials. I was sad that they sold out of their Italian sausage sub an hour and change after service started; hopefully they’ll be prepared with more next time.
