Sam’s Boat

Drove about an hour to have crawfish on the lake. The views of the lake was great, the crawfish was pretty good but the service was horrible. Staff isn’t friendly and doesn’t seem to care about their guest.

Wait staff was wonderful the food was great. The price of the food is good. Really enjoyed lunch.

Food is fine, service so-​so and the music is way too loud. Could not even talk with my wife sitting right next to me.

Kat is by far the best bartender and waitress i have ever had. Food is great. Even manager is cool and visits with people. Suggest to all to come

We have lived on the Lake for twelve months now and we love Sam’s Boat. The service is always great (far superior to the nearby Wolfies), and we especially love Kat, one of the bartenders.
Their crawfish is some of the best around, when in season. Their lunch specials are crazy good, and their beer is always cold. Almost always open parking for boats, which is nice too.
If you are there when Kat is working, ask for one of her top shelf margaritas. Delish!

I love this place. Try to make it up once a week if I can. Food is great and Kat always wrecks shop at the bar.

Food was relatively flavorless and the service was non existent. Disappointing and should have picked the sushi place next door. Will not be back.

Food is decent. It definitely is kids friendly which is a plus. Manager walks around to make sure everything is ok. Would be better if he asked if we were ok vs walking by the table.

The service sucks. The ONLY REASON I gave it 3 stars is because the food was good and the manager was apologetic. Hannah (our server) never checked on us. Only took our order and brought it out. She had 2 other small tables of 4 and 2 people so there was a lot of hanging out and chatting… I had to flag other servers down to get refills and more garlic bread. I even had to walk to the bar to get a drink and the manager saw me and nicely told me I could order drinks from my table. I told him I would if our sever would ever come and check on us. He was very nice and apologetic. He said he’d bring my drink to our table. Later, I had to again find the manager after waiting another 20 minutes after we were clearly done eating, I asked him for the check since our server still hasn’t come to check on us or refill drinks, he apologized, found her and wiped off my $ 4 margarita (Saturday special) (Thank you manager!!) The food was good. I think the reason they stay in business is because they are in a pretty good location, but I’ve had this problem with bad service every time I come here. You can pull in on your boat from Lake Conroe grab dinner, eat outside or inside, watch the game or drink at the bar. The étouffée was good, but very spicy. The chips and salsa and the garlic and Parmesan chicken was good too.

You can’t screw up salad, I guess… Nice location, but that’s ALL this place has going for it… For a place that should have good seafood, the Blackened Mahi sandwich was as tender as my hiking boot. The pizza I ordered for my toddler took forever, then turned to hardened cardboard in 2 mins, clearly frozen and nuked. My wife’s salad was actually ok, but that’s giving the kitchen much credit. Bad food can sometimes be negated with good service, that wasn’t the case at this place. I haven’t had worse service in as long as I can remember. Our Charger fan waitress had a horrible attitude, and needs to look at another line of work. Long story short, don’t give Sam’s your money…

A true hit and miss kinda place. The foods always pretty good but the service is always unpredictable. Your either going to get great service or your going to leave swearing your never going to come back. I’m pretty sure our waitress did not want to be at work. She seemed annoyed that she had to come to our table. A girl being trained by another waitress came over to help us and give us refills on drinks.
Hopefully next time we get a new one.

I’ll give this place a meh, because I’ve had much better. My biggest issue was that we were not immediately greeted at the door. There was a waitress sitting at a nearby booth preparing the silverware and even though she was closest to the entrance she hesitated even after making eye contact with us. Sorry buddy, you have to take care of us! I understand she may have been trying to get her task done, but come on, you are a waitress, it’s your job! Anyway, she got us seated and then we were taken care of by an extremely sweet waitress. So now, the important part, the food. Our original plan was to go to the Mexican restaurant a few doors down, but they were closing when we got there :-/​. After enjoying some delicious seafood at different places for the past couple of days, I was still in the mood for it. I got the fried fish and shrimp and it was okay, not terrible, but I had had better. With that I had a margarita on the rocks and for dessert the turtle cheesecake, which was good. The experience was okay, but if I do try it again I may sit out on the patio by the water because I’m sure that will enhance the experience.

We had a semi large group come in for dinner. The GM let us make us reservation, which we appreciated. That’s about the end of the good part of the review.
To start, most of us took a while to get drinks. I and the girl next to me were skipped over by our server even after all of the drinks were handed out. I had to stop her to take our drink order because she was about to leave. We ordered our appetizers and those came out in a timely manner. The server was heard complaining about our table at the hostess stand (I’m assuming she didn’t realize one of our party was standing there).
The food all came out at different times, which is fine because, as I stated before, we had a large group. The only problem was that many items had been forgotten. Almost everyone had finished eating by the time a kids meal had come to the table. I ordered the shrimp and crawfish étouffée, which was pretty good, except for the fact that it only had a handful of crawfish. The second server that was assigned to the table, a young guy, was the only one we had seen most of the meal. He refilled our drinks and made sure everything was correct.
Thankfully the server was somewhat organized with the tickets. A few items were swapped, but it was a minor issue that we looked over. The paying out process took a very long time. I was again skipped over so everyone was waiting on me to pay. The server comes back to tell us to have a good night, and I still hadn’t gotten my card back. She had lost it somewhere in the restaurant. Luckily it was found. We talked with the manager and she was extremely apologetic.
My biggest complaint was the service. The food was average. I might give it another try with a smaller group if I’m in the area. I was a server for many years, so I’m a little more understanding of how difficult large parties can be, but overall it was extremely unorganized.

I’ve been back, and ordered the same fried catfish both times, and neither time had any complaint: Delicious! And… I don’t really like catfish, but something about being near large bodies of freshwater and cold beer compels me to order the stuff. Service is good, although I can see where some might feel it is slow: Look, relax, watch the lake, and enjoy the company of whomever you are with. This is «Sam’s Boat,» not some 5 star yuppie haven: If that’s what you’re after, then jump in your BMW and go back to The Woodland’s Waterway.
I do have a WARNING. If you value the fillings in your teeth, then choose to sit well away from the bandstand, otherwise the sound system might guarantee your next trip to the dentist. Unhappily, the best seats to choose are in OTHER RESTAURANTS, or somewhere in the middle of Lake Conroe where Sam’s Boat’s Sound System allows music to be perfectly heard and enjoyed.

Hair in my salad. Service was atrocious. Do NOT recommend.

My girlfriend and I found this place in the local entertainment guide. We were excited to see that they had live entertainment and located right on the lake. We were visiting from San Antonio.
To start off with we were informed that we could not order certain frozen drinks because it was too hot and humid and not all drinks would come out frozen. Whaaaat??? Really??? Good thing I was drinking beer but girlfriend not thrilled about it. Lol
As other post have mentioned, the stuffed fried jalapeños were awesome!!! I ordered the sampler platter which came with catfish, fried shrimp, hushpuppies, and fries. The fish and shrimp were good but hushpuppies were very hard and fries were cold. My girlfriend had a burger and said it was good. Overall food was decent.
As I mentioned they had live music and it was very entertaining. The only down fall was that service was very slow. Asked for items more than once. I am very patient and don’t ask for much but even refills were hard to get. Just an fyi

Sams boat has always been pretty good. But we were there on Friday night and i felt it was the best so far. Our waitress Breanna was excellent! We always get the stuffed jalapeños for an appetizer and they are always great, fried and stuffed with crab and cheese. Ranch for dipping. I always get the same thing when i come here because it is amazing. The blackened shrimp blt! Spicy grilled shrimp with bacon lettuce and tomato (i add avacado yumm) with an awesome chipotle mayo. Served with crispy fries. My husband and son loved their jalapeño burger.
Great place to hang out drink a beer, enjoy the beautiful view.
They also have a live band on friday (i think Saturday too).

Place is no good! Service is awful, food is bland! The only thing that have good is the location, right on Lake Conroe.

These folks are genious. They have mastered the art of making a completely tasteless bacon mushroom Swiss burger. Simply amazing! It might have something to do with the rock hard bacon I almost broke a tooth on, but I can’t be sure. They have disguised each floavor with a vacuum.
My generosity with the 3 stars stems from the silver lining that the fries were good, crispy and hot and the beer was cold.

Service is average at best. Our group had a young waitress who didn’t really care about us and was happy to bring the check. Customer service is lacking!
I wasn’t really hungry but I ordered some chips and queso/​salsa to munch on while I watched the others dine. Their «house made» salsa taste like Pace Picante sauce. Queso is pretty good.
I asked if they had micheladas and the waitress never came back with a drink. 5 – 10 minutes passed and I ordered a blue moon. She brought the blue moon but it was warm. Warm beer!!! No thanks!
View is great and they have music on Sundays. I would recommend coming here to enjoy the view and maybe ordered a drink that isn’t beer or maybe it was just the blue moon. Who knows… but do you want to take that chance of getting warm beer?
