There is no doubt that the atmosphere is wonderful, but that doesn’t make up for the horrible service that you get there. The bartender took his time to wait on me and my friend and when he finally did he was rude and not helpful when I asked him a simple question about their top shelf vodka. I won’t be back.

This is a really cool concept and a big part of the recent Montgomery renaissance. Until the last few years, Montgomery wasn’t ever considered a destination town. Thanks to places like Sand Bar and the new stadium, we find ourselves traveling from Birmingham every now and them to check out the capital city. We walked from a biscuits game to the sandy river side to check out this drinking hole. I’m glad we did. It’s basically a huge deck that surrounds a bar. There is a ton of seating and space to walk around. If you want to summon your inner Jimmy Buffet, you can head to the beach area and dip your toes. Cool atmosphere and a great addition to a city on the rise.

I could see myself spending many a summer night here. As it were, when I went it was daytime and not especially warm. And Sunday. That’s important. They’re open Sundays during the season. You almost don’t need another reason to go over there. SundayFunday, anyone?

Horrible horrible horrible service. How can you have a bar with such horrible staff. One guy is playing hackey sack, the girls are either texting or staring off into space. 3 times I’ve gone and had to acknowledge the staff instead of being welcomed. The locations is AWESOME but the drinks suck. How can you have a beach-themed bar with no mixed drinks. My friends and I ordered daquari’s… We got a few ice cubes with a crap load of Strawberry syrup and some alcohol. How hard is it to get a blender. I gave it 3 chances… Doubt I’ll be going back.

The best low-key bar in Montgomery. This place just opened and we met Sean on a week night. He’s a great general manager and does right by his customers. This place looks out over the river and the park, has a lot of space around the bar, and has lots of tables surrounding the open bar area. They play great classic rock through the speakers and have multiple live shows weekly. CHECKTHEMOUT! They are associated to AlleyBar, so head to the Sand Bar and then finish the night dancing at AlleyBar.

This great new bar is up on the hill over looking the river at the River Front Park. It’s officially named the SandBAR at the Silos. It’s attached to the silos you can see when you’re near the park. This is a perfect outdoor bar. There are lots of seats at and around the bar, but they placed lots of tables in the vicinity of the bar so the total space to have drinks, hangout, or mingle is quite big. Sean is an awesome bartender and is very attentive. They all serve quick, solid, drinks that aren’t overpriced. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and can make almost any mixed drink. The margarita here is highly recommended if you’re in that mood. Beer selection is limited. Since it’s outdoor, it’s never super loud or stuffy/smokey, which is a massive plus. On some nights they have a little live act to add to the background music and the crowd can get large with a good mix of a younger crowd. Friends and I have been here a lot since it opened. Probably the best spot in the area to start the night and move onto the other bars, like the AlleyBAR, which is the sister establishment to the SandBAR.
