Shinbaum’s Air Force & Army Uniforms

I can’t say enough about Shinbaums. Good timely service and quick to help you get ready for your event. The gentlemen gave me quick and easy-​to-​follow instructions for fitting my uniform. Unfortunately, I was more round than I measured… Shinbaums expedited a package with larger pants inside. I will use this much appreciated service in the future. Money well spent. Thank you!

This place is slow, expensive, and unprofessional. If there is anywhere else to go to get what you need, I would advise it. Avoid if possible.

This place is awesome! I just took my hat and ABU blouse to get my new ranks sewed on. This was a ¹⁄₃^rd of the price for twice the quality of sewing as I got on base with my other blouse. On base, they quoted me $ 6.40 and when I went to pick it up (3 whole days later!) they charged me $ 15.25 because it was $ 6.40 each rank plus a charge for having to take the old rank off! I’m like they were some measley LT bars how hard is it take them off really. Anyway, this place says they don’t do «same day service» but I went in at noon today, and I asked if they could at least just sew the rank on my hat, the nice man told me to come back at 5:00 so I returned at 5:10 and they had finished my Hat and my Blouse! Also, he had quoted me at $ 5.25, and when I went to pick it up he charged me $ 5.25!!! (A rare occurrence I’m finding!) I am super thrilled with the service, and the atmosphere. I would be wary if you are deathly allergic to cats, there is a cute grey tabby kitty that roams the place :)

My father passed away recently, he had expressed his wishes to be buried in his dress blues. We could not locate it anywhere. My brother went to Shimbaum’s per the advice of the pastor and the funeral director. They were able to get us a uniform with all the proper insignia and ribbons of the late 70s and early 80s which was when my father retired. We took my dads military records and they were able to get the correct service ribbons (including Vietnam War ones). SAME DAY service! We could not be more thrilled. A huge Thank You to the hard working folks that made it happen for us!

This place is great. We currently live about an hour and a half south of Montgomery and needed to rent an Air Force mess dress within three days. Their policy is no same day service and you need four weeks to place an order and have it get to you on time. I’m guessing some of this has to do with getting measured and shipping time. Anyway we told them we could drive up and pick the mess dress up if there was any possibility of having it that soon. We had to wait to talk to Steve (the owner or manager, not sure), but when we finally got in touch with him he said it was fine to come at our convenience in the three day span we had and he would set us up without any rush fees. Then we told them we were heading across the country with it and wouldn’t be able to return it for 3 weeks. No problem. They didn’t even give us a date it needed to be back by. Wow! We thought we were going to be out of luck. Excellent customer service.
Also, prices are reasonable. I believe it was 60-​something to rent, and then we bought my husband’s ribbons there (which I believe are cheaper than at the BX) which brought our total to 75. I can’t say how much shipping would be if you needed to ship, but considering buying a mess dress is upwards of 400 dollars, this was music to our ears! Could not have had a better experience!
