Meh. It’s a decent Japanese restaurant. The venue itself is huge. Lunch was… super small in portion, but I guess that’s what you pay for. Pee-wee sized seaweed salad, literally. They didn’t have ponzu, which I thought was very strange. I’ve never encountered a Japanese restaurant that serves sushi but doesn’t have ponzu. Nothing was spectacular nor was it bad. If you’re craving something you’ll probably find it as they have a myriad of rolls and such. Sushi(nigiri) is pretty cheap, but this is true for pricing across most non-authentic Japanese restaurants that I’ve encountered down south and around here. Unmemorable, but I’ll probably give it another chance in the future.

Food is usually pretty good. However, recently I think they’ve gone through a change in management or something. They have been lacking lately. Been there a few more times since I wrote original review. Tempted to give less stars. Used to be our go-to sushi place. I definitely think there has been a change in management. Got the double spicy tuna roll. Was soooo spicy it wasn’t enjoyable. Sad that this place has gone downhill.

Well it was my first time having Japanese food. And it was a bad experience with me. I ordered some kind of noodles and fried rice. The taste was horrible. Never having Japanese food again.

I just had a rainbow roll, and it was awesome — very fresh, good portions, nice design. The customer service here is fantastic — so polite, efficient, friendly. They’re great! The cocktails, not so much. But, I know better than to expect a well-done cocktail at a sushi place, so that’s fine. Just know going in, that you better stick with wine, beer, or soda if you want something besides water. I will definitely be back!

Food was pretty good ! Cashier was very rude and disrespectful! Ordered carry out, snatched my Card out of my hand, instead of placing it back in my hand, slide it back across counter! Pissed! I still left a tip ! I want spend there anymore! First impression!

Love this place. Comforting knowing I have a place to come for sushi cravings when in Montgomery. A nice spot for a birthday dinner also as they have private rooms on one side. Very good service.

This place is taking the crown of Our favorite sushi place in Montgomery. The family and I have been 3 times in the past month. The variety of rolls is plentiful, the food always tastes fresh and the service is very good. We haven’t had an issue yet at this establishment and when we get our sushi craving, this will be the spot of choice.

Sushi in Montgomery, Alabama! Who knew it would be so good! Such is the case at Sushi Yama. I had the Yummy Yummy Roll, my wife had the Double Shrimp Roll. Both came out in good time. Both were VERY good. The«paint strokes» with the sauces on the plate were an extra cool touch. The fish, shrimp, everything was fresh, flavorful, just excellent sushi. Service was good, although a bit slow with getting tea, checking back after serving and getting the ticket at the end of the meal. But, I can’t fault that too much for the good food and it was a little on the busy side. Don’t know when we’ll ever make it back to this part of the country again but, if we do, we’ll be sure to stop here.

Service was good. Love the bell at each table! Sushi was okay. Had the bento sashimi box and the fish was warm. Friends had different rolls and they all looked like average sushi from a Korean owned sushi joint.
