The food was excellent but the service was seriously lacking. The actual problems didn’t occur until the group tried to pay our checks. The waitress and hostess lost our credit cards. Thirty minutes later after asking multiple servers multiple times to locate our cards (our waitress was nowhere to be found) the bills were returned to us without the cards. Another period of time went by and they asked us for our server’s name. They found her and the wait staff proceeded to search the restaurant. When they finally brought out the cards one member of our group still didn’t have her card. Needless to say this was really concerning and I will be canceling my card to prevent theft. I’d love to go back because the food was that good but I just don’t think I could have peace of mind paying there.

Very cute place. Lovely staff. Was craving some sushi, but I hate to say this place is not that impressive in the sushi department. The gyoza was lacking in flavor, but not terrible. I did enjoy what I tried of the korean BBQ. Overall, I’ve had better, but not bad for Montgomery.

Good quality rolls. Not too fish focused, as most specialty rolls seemed to have eel or Shrimp tempura (or cream cheese…)… But very good nonetheless. Chef is good with the Chef Special. Amazingly friendly front staff… But they had one sushi chef on for a Friday night. Would love to score this higher, but we waited 50 mins for take out. People seated seem to be waiting just as long. Staff and food are A+. Management needs to train more staff or work their schedules a bit better. Management needs to be better for this to stay a 4 – 4.5 star rating for sure…

Great place! Best Japanese cuisine in Montgomery hands down! Great environment makes it perfect for parties and the private curtained rooms make it the ultimate place for dates. Oh, and GREAT selection of Japanese beers.

Montgomery’s little gem! The service here is very welcoming and warm. I ordered the miso soup and they also brought complimentary side salads for the table. You can get some good quality rolls for a really good price. I ordered from the special rolls menu and also house rolls menu. From the house menu I got a Dawg roll and it was pretty good. The special roll I got was the Bell Rd roll and it was awesome.

It was alright. I thought it was Japanese food but it was mostly Korean. Last time I was there they had a 77 health score so I can’t recommend them to my kids or friends. The best part of the restaurant is the interior. The food was meh. The portions were average but the price was really high compared to other asian restaurants.

Firstly, the atmosphere here is incredible – they have seating that ranges from incredibly intimate to open and airy. Their private four person rooms are HELLA romantic. Second, the food is astounding. I’ve eaten at (almost) every sushi place in Montgomery It’s truly some of the best sushi available in central Alabama. Their korean dishes are also delicious. Definitely one of my favorite places to dine.

Food was good, and the service was excellent, but after seeing that their health inspection score is 77, we won’t be returning to this restaurant until they get themselves at least in the 90s.

After all of the great reviews, we decided to give Yokohama a try. The dining area is bright and clean. Sit at the sushi bar or sit in one of their enclosed dining rooms. We ordered three rolls, one of them deep fried. All were tasty. Enjoyed the soup, salad and sides. I liked the sweet tea. We shall return.

Went tonight for dinner. First and foremost it has a nicely decorated interior. Heavy doors. Subdued lighting. Flatscreen TVs on seemingly every wall (including a TV in the men’s room LOL). A massive aquarium.
Welcoming calls of «moshi moshiiii» ring out when you enter and the wait staff moves quickly to seat you. A well-​stocked sushi bar tempted me but I wanted to try the kitchen. I ordered something I figured I’d like even it weren’t amazing, fried dumplings for an appetizer with a lobster and scallop combination plate as the main entrée. Miso soup and a house salad rounded out the deal.
The dumplings were piping hot and crisp with a light and lightly favored pork filling. A flavorful dipping sauce came along. The lobster and scallop dish was brought out soon after, and it was gorgeous. I would have liked to see a slightly darker sear on the scallops but the main problem was a brown sauce that was coated on a little heavily for my taste. The lobster was tasty and had a little more chew to it than I’d expected. But it was good.
This is not an inexpensive place but you feel like you’re getting a good meal for the prices paid. I’m still curious about the last page of the menu, which features higher priced «deluxe» items and is written only in Japanese.
I’ll be back.

This is probably the best Japanese restaurant in Montgomery with the décor and food the best I have seen in a long time. our serve was nice they have romantic private room to inside table with beach.settings. Awesome!!!

Service Great! Sushi Spectacular! I would highly recommend Yokohama. In my opinion the Chef is the best in Montgomery! Restaurant atmosphere is very comfortable and the waitresses on on the spitz! This will be a regular stop for Chef Big!

Good sushi selection, including quality nigiri and sashimi, plus all the standard Americanized dishes. A large number of small private rooms are available.
Pro tip: Use the buzzer. In true Japanese style, each table has a button that you can press to get service. It’s not strictly necessary to press it to have someone come to your table, but that’s what it’s designed for and it helps.
