Yuck! Dirty and rundown. Cook does not wear gloves when preparing food which is pretty gross when he keeps rubbing his runny nose. We asked for a refund after witnessing that. No thank you! I’ve heard that they are now closed due to health dept violations.

This is a great place to eat. I have been there at least 5 times now and have tried something different each time. I have loved each meal. Very different and you can tell that the food is better quality than most places in town. I would recommend it to any one and hope they stay in business for a long time ! The owners are there working and are very friendly. They also donate to Relay for Life, Boys and Girls Club and probably more. I just happen to know about those 2. Try Tam’s Take Out and support local business ! P. S. Gloves were worn today when my food was being prepared. :)

I really wanted to like this place, I try to support local places whenever I can. We tried it after it first opened and wasn’t very impressed the portions were small and the food was just OK. The second time I tried it I figured what the heck, they had been advertising Chicago dogs and since there is no place in town to get a good hot dog I said what the hell how can you screw up a hot dog and went back, my excitement was short lived, the hotdog was luke warm and the fries well here’s the good with the bad, they are hand cut however, they do not know how to cook them therefor are limp and greasy. I tried it once and tried it twice but I don’t think there will be a third. Their sign advertises that they were nominated for Diners Drive Inns and Dives and I am tempted to write the producers encouraging them to NOT select this place a a Triple D fan I have a standard that I look for when I go to places on this show(Check out the Tamale Place on Rockville Road in Indy AMAZING). And I am afraid this place will dissappoint the viewers horribly.

I would never go again. I agree with the other review. They do not wear gloves when they are touching the food. So, if they are not following the rules in front of us it makes me wonder what they are doing when no one is looking. As for the food… not great. My Italian sausage sandwich was a patty and I am not sure it was even Italian sausage… just plain olé sausage. Don’t order fries, you get about three. Will not go again.

I decided to stop and try their gyros I had heard they were very good. However I could not eat the meat tasted weird and the sauce was just as bad. The lady was nice but I did notice a young man cooking using no gloves no hair net and the counter was a complete mess food every where from cooking. I will not try it again it makes my stomach turn. I’m sure if I went back she would have gave me something else but no thanks.

Tam’s is the newest addition to Monticello’s restaurant selection which always needs expansion from the usual diners and fast food chains. Tam’s is refreshingly unique in that it is located in a charming, remodeled, old gas station which sits on a peninsula on Main Street. Parking is in front on the slice of triangle that fits maybe 4 cars at most, but there’s always street parking nearby. The décor is patriotic, and the ambiance is country charming. It looks like they were on a shoe string budget, but it’s bright, cheery and clean. There are 4 or 5 tables inside, but the best seating in the house is the bar looking out the windows where you can watch traffic go by, and eat by yourself without feeling awkward. The teen taking our order was painfully quiet and shy and didn’t know what some of the things on the menu were when asked for details, and she wasn’t sure what was included in the meal. This is probably a family business so my suggestion is to put your best cheerleading face on, fake perky, speak up and learn the menu because you are the first face the customers see. While waiting for our food, there were two, little wooden games to play — tic tac toe and insanity. More boardgames would be nice, especially for customer’s who aren’t there for take-out. Also, there’s no restaurants in town that offer boardgames, and this place seems perfect for it. Hint — CDC thrift store carries quite a selection. As for the food, the hand-pressed hamburger is only second to Beaver’s Pub in my humble opinion. The bun is a nice, hardy roll, and the ground beef is seasoned which makes the large burger better with every bite. The fries were standard. The chicken suvlaki(Greek) is a great, low fat choice and is definitely something no one else offers in Monticello, but then, no one else offers Italian beef and sausage either which I didn’t think was all that uncommon. I also got a half Tambolini which is more than enough to feed two people and is chock full of cheese and meats; it’s a bit overwhelming after you’ve eaten the more mild chicken suvlaki. The herb cheesy muffin is different, but what I really like more than anything was the corn muffin with lots of corn kernels inside. We will definitely give this place many more tries, especially in the summer when we want ice cream which they have a nice selection of for great prices.

Decided to stop in and try it out. The Tamboli is pretty good! I plan to stop in again and try something else.
