Unilocal forces me to leave at least one star, or they wouldn’t have gotten any. My son was in an accident today, thank God, not life-threatening. But he did break his leg. He was taken to the Montrose Hospital where they did an X-ray and said, ‘Yup, it’s broken.’. The bone pushing up against his inner leg told him that even before he arrived. Once they confirmed it was broken, they told him that he would have to TAKEHIMSELF somewhere else as the ONLY doctor they have that is able to set a broken leg is on vacation for the next 10 days. I have never been to a hospital anywhere that doesn’t have the capability to set a broken leg. To make matters worse, he asked them if they could call an ambulance to take him to a hospital that has adequate staff and they said no. Please tell me how someone with a broken leg, who is in excruciating pain is going to take themselves to another hospital, which is probably 30 miles or so away. I kept in touch with him while he was there and he said that they were no more than ten feet away from him, on the other side of a curtain and he could hear everything they were saying. They were actually laughing about his situation. I went on the computer to see what I might be able to do to help him as I live 4 hours away and learned that they have hours. Yes, hospital hours are listed as 9 — 5. Since when does a hospital close? I spoke with him at 5:12 and he said they were pushing him out. What kind of medical care is that? And if he is forced out with a broken leg he cannot walk on and anything at all happens to him because he was unable to react in time, whose fault will that be? Exactly what does this hospital(and I use the term very loosely) take responsibility for? Certainly not their patients. I called there at about 4PM to see why they could not set his leg and the nurse I spoke with was not only rude, but could not provide any answers other than the only doctor they have is entitled to a vacation. Sweet. And my son is entitled to adequate medical care, but he’s not getting it. I am appalled by the care my son didn’t receive there and will investigate the issues this hospital seems to have to see what can be done about it. How they receive state funding is beyond me. Better yet, I’d like to know what they do with it since they certainly don’t use it to treat patients.
