After reading the rest of the reviews I am a little surprised. I thought this place was pretty good. We ended up going here after ice climbing during the Ice Climbing Festival in Ouray, Colorado. We accidentally stumbled upon it coming back to our hotel in Montrose, Colorado. It was something that we agreed we would«try» but with a name like«Garlic Mike’s» we were not 100% into it. UNTIL we went inside. Real nice, casual italian restaurant out in the west.(It is odd to me because it’s not like back in Cleveland, Ohio where there is an Italian restaurant in every city.) Anyway, food was good. Loved the salami and prosciutto covered in balsamic starter and the warm bread with bruschetta. Really a perfect start to a day out in the cold. Fresh salad but the house dressing wasn’t strong enough for my liking. My Bolgnese Lasagna was a good meal but NOT the best lasagna I’ve had. I do come from Cleveland where we have«Lil Italy» and come from an Italian family. Great service from our waiter, which I always enjoy, who gave us honest opinions on the food. Overall: a solid place to get your Italian fix from. I would go if you are near one and are deciding between this and the fake Italian of Olive Garden, haha.

It has been a year since we have been to Garlic Mike’s and the service issues have been worked out. My Chicken picatta was wonderful, the Italian soup divine, and server Trisha, the best.

I’m definitely a fan of Garlic Mike’s, the food is amazing and the staff is very quick and efficient. I’m actually having a craving for it now.

We had heard good things about Garlic Mike’s in Gunnison and so when we had a chance to go to this one we decided we’d try it. The appetizer of mozzarella and tomatoes with balsalmic vinegar was great. The rest of the meal didn’t quite hit that standard. The salads were fresh and good but the vinaigrette didn’t have much vinegar or spice. The meals were just OK, disappointing after that starter. The restaurant is unfortunately open to the kitchen, and we could hear lots of kitchen noises, drains, people talking, things getting banged around — it really detracted from the dining experience. The cannoli were great for dessert tho.
