Faunce Seafood

When you walk into the store you are welcomed and greeted with a sile. Unfortunately I was here to hey some oysters, and they had only the ones in shells. I will be back. Since I wasn’t able to get the oysters I decided I wanted seafood for the night, so I picked out some fresh catfish. Time has elapsed and the catfish was delicious. This is a great place to pick up fresh seafood. I have caught them at our local Farmers’ Market in Tappahannock. Keep your eyes open and check them out!

Hands down the best place to get crabs, we make the 1hr 30min drive just for them! We have been coming here for years, and make several trips once the crab season starts, they have other seafood goodies but I can’t speak on those.
The crabs are always fresh and season properly, we call beforehand to be sure our order is ready and it always is. The crabs are so hot that even on our drive home they are still hot! Talk about torture having to smell them the whole way!
The place is gold and they are extremely personable, completely worth every dollar and their prices are extremely reasonable!

I love this place. First time I went here was Labor Day 2015. Got a half a bushel of #2 Male Crabs for $ 40 and a pound of shrimp for $ 12! Brought the food back to our beach house and it was a big hit! The crabs were fresh and seasoned perfectly and the shrimp was also amazing. I loved this place so much that I went back the following weekend and got another half bushel with my family and it ended up being $ 35!!! Winning!!! Oh, and I didn’t forget to get those shrimp either! Forgot to say that the folks that are running this spot are so friendly and very helpful. This is definitely my go to spot. I don’t mind driving 20−30min out my way to get these crabs. you can beat the price, service, and crabs.

This place is pretty much as fresh as it gets. Faunce is one of the best places around Montross /​Northern Neck to get very fresh seafood. Everything in there is clean and looks great. Based on other’s I’ve talked to, they seem to be the main commercial distributor in the area as well. I’ve had their oysters as far as Colonial Beach!
I stopped in here the other day to pick up some oysters. Place smells clean (I know right, and it’s a fish store!!), and the place was fully stocked with everything from seasonal rock fish to tuna steaks to frozen lobster tails if you need them.
We walked out with a pint of oysters (about 30) for $ 11.99 — a good deal in my book. They tasted even better. In the past we have also gotten steamed crabs, just as fresh.
After a long day fishing, (when you can’t come home to the wife/​girlfriend/​fiancé empty handed) this is a solid spot to pick up a fresh piece of fish.

Outstanding fresh catch seafood. Faunce’s is the place to go for your fish to grill. Never had a bad meal grilling Faunce’s fresh catch. Even the biggest red meat lover would be eating fish if back home you could get Faunce’s quality at the supermarket.
Staff is very, very friendly and pleasant. Low-​key. High competence. A special place.
Tip: We like grilling with Zatarains’ Blackened seasoning. Faunce’s has a good selection of spices that are hard to find in a grocery store, but really take your grilling up a notch or two.
A Northern Neck tradition for seafood. Writing this up makes me hungry — gotta get back there.

The only place to go for fresh seafood on the Northern Neck. Extremely nice and attentive service to boot. Don’t leave without getting the crab dip and scallop cakes.

I’ve ordered a handful of times over the last few years. I live in Springfield VA and frequently visit my Mom down in the Northern Neck area during summer months. Last couple times I gave Faunce’s a call in the morning to verify they have large crabs and do a quick price-​check, then i place my order which they are accommodating enough to hold for me until I pass through later in the day. Great service, fair prices and deliciously prepared crabs.

We got 3 dozen medium crabs from here while staying in a cabin at Westmoreland State Park. Crabs were very good and good service… pretty simple review.
Tip… if you are camping at Westmoreland State Park, be sure to dispose of your crab detritus or expect an army of salivating raccoons to constantly be patrolling your cabin!
