First the food most of the time is good. The issue there is it takes forever, forever!!! So for OK to good bagel or sandwiches, it takes them down to just OK after waiting elongated periods of times. Parking here is awful, be careful you can the dreaded half spaces that appear every third space or so. Whoever designed the lot what were they smoking. The owners of all the shops here not getting this fixed years and years later shame on them. All in all it makes the experience on most days no fun…

This place claims to be open at 5am but they don’t have anything ready until 6:10am which sucks because I need to be on my way to work by then!

RUDEMANAGER. BADSERVICE. FILTHY. This place is amongst the worst places I have ever been to. Not only is it filthy inside, but the staff is rude as can be. I ordered a few sandwiches from them and specified I want bores head products only. Instead I got some kind of off brand salami. I can tell what is real and what is obviously fake knockoff meat. For the prices they charge I expected better. The turkey and ham tasted okay so I can’t vouch for that being fake. How does a deli have hard bread at noon. I would understand if it was 5pm but at 1130? Which is my lunch break, the bread should be fresh. Unless they used yesterday’s bread. When I asked to talk to the manager she was so rude I had to leave the store to avoid getting angrier. I don’t leave Unilocal reviews but I had such a bad experience that I needed to get this off my chest. DONOTEATHERE! Especially if you don’t want to ruin your whole day and spend it pissed off writing Unilocal reviews.

Food is good, but the service, staff and owner suck! My company orders from there all the time only because it’s close, but their lack of customer service makes me wonder how they are even still in business. Hire more people and make sure they are competent to take orders correctly, send receipts upon delivery and step it up! They lost my business after the way the woman behind the counter spoke to another customer today! FINDWORKELSEWHEREIFYOUCANNOTPUTUPWITHTHESTRESS!!! Don’t bring your personal life and misery to work and take it out on people who EXPECT you to do what you’re paid to do! DONE!

The service is just too slow. If you have 30 minutes in the morning to wait this might be an option for you. I tried twice and after waiting for an eternity to even get close to ordering, I just left. I could have just made the food myself faster. The food is just average. AJ’s is a little better but not by much.

My office orders from here once a week and I really enjoy everything on the menu. From their bagels to the sandwiches to the soups, everything tastes great. The Italian chicken panini and the egg salad sandwich are some of my favorites. I also really like the cream of mushroom soup they make in the colder months. Everything is well priced also! good go-to-lunch spot.

Decent food, very inconsistent, and generally takes forever. 2 customers in front of me walked out after waiting 20 minutes for 3 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. Can be a good stop in, mostly because there’s no one else in town, but you can expect to be dissatisfied 50%of the time.

Place has been going down hill with new owners. Dirty and quality of food is worse. Look at this picture of a double egg, taylor ham and cheese. Yuk!

Great bagels and everything you could think of for a bagel. Coffee was nice and HOT too. We were traveling and this was the perfect little spot. Lots of locals coming in w kids still in pajamas, but they all had to-go orders.

It’s convenient cause I live right around the corner but I would rather drive 20 min for bagels. Service is extremely slow and rude and the order is wrong 50% of the time. The bagels are decent but if you order an egg sandwich the cheese is never melted and its always cold. Would not recommend

This is my go to lunch spot at work. It is a great deli/bagel place in walking distance from my office. Parking can be a nightmare so I try and go before the lunch crowd or after. My favorite lunch is the cranberry chicken salad on a whole wheat bagel. They make the best chicken salad around with their extra ingredients. I usually buy some to go and take home OR I love their turkey burgers. However, they have a large menu with pretty much anything you can think of.

Breakfast here is great. Lunch is hit or miss. Prices are fair. If getting lunch, order ahead or go early. Place is a mad house from 12 – 2 usually. Service can be slow during that time as well.

Bagels here are really good, BUT service is so poor it is rarely worth the trip. Today took this place completely off my list with their lack of responsibility and poor service. I ordered 4 ½ dozen bagels and cream cheese for a conference, more than 24 hours prior to Requested pick up time. They failed miserably! When I came in they had my request hanging at their station with nothing prepared and bagels most bagel types I requested not even done being baked. I would not recommend this place to anyone and canceled my order for the next day.

I have been going to Stein’s for years and I am always happy with the service and food! Stein’s has everything you would want! From bagels, sandwiches, soup, salads, etc… I definitely recommend the tuna wrap with American cheese melted in the Panini maker(sooo good!) Bagels are fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend Stein’s — don’t really get why there are so many poor reviews.

Run of the mill place that really should be better. The morning bagels are great, but that’s really about it. I’ve come back here countless times for lunch and have always been disappointed. Like other Unilocalers have said… there’s something always a bit«off» about their food, like its’ been laying out for a bit too long and definitely lacks freshness. Definitely come in the morning for their bagels though. If they only did breakfast, this place would easily be worth 4 Unilocal stars.

A 3 star lunch… this is what I get for cheating on my regular deli. I was dropping something off at UPS and thought I would give Stein’s a whirl. We’ve gotten decent bagels from there before but I’ve never had any of their sandwiches. After ordering my usual(turkey & swiss on wheat, lettuce, mayo, mustard) I immediately regretted my decision after looking at the huge menu and delicious-sounding combinations. I even thought to myself«Hm, maybe I will have to come here more often.» Sadly, my sandwich missed the mark so I don’t know if I would be back to try out anything else. It was extremely dry — not sure where the mayo/mustard went — and even something about the meat/cheese itself felt a little«off». You know that color cheese gets when it’s been sitting out at room temp a little too long? It has that darker yellow/orange color with a really rubbery look to it. Well, that’s how my cheese looked on my sandwich. And even the taste of the turkey wasn’t what I had hoped. I’ll be skipping Stein’s for lunch/dinner, but still keeping them on tap as a bagel option in the morning.

I stayed in New Jersey for a couple days and I went here because they were close. And damn it, it was a good decision. I ordered a dozen bagels here for a decent price, and the bagels were hot and tasted like they were right out of the oven. They were delicious, and since I like leftovers I freeze them and a couple days later they still taste great. I didn’t order anything else, except for some canned sodas. And I have to say, for a bagel shop, they have a load of sodas! They had some of my favorite lesser known brand-name sodas, like Dr Pepper Diet Cherry and Pepsi MAX. I thought I could never find those sodas in any food shop! They also have some freezers and one of the brands of foods in there is Udi’s, which is a gluten-free and nut-free brand. It’s nice to see that they’re there for those with food allergies(like me). The service was fine. They have coupons online as well to make a dozen bagels with crème cheese only $ 8! I’d be willing to go here everyday if I lived in New Jersey. But until I come back, I’ll miss you.

Steins has progressive been getting worse. Over the last few weeks I’ve ordered the same sandwich… egg & bacon, they only could execute twice. One day there is no egg, only bacon, a cheese sandwich. Besides executing my order incorrectly 80% of the time. I’ve never been charged the same amount twice… it can sway a dollar in any direction. Steins used to be the go to bfast spot, now I tell everyone to avoid it like the plague.

There is something to be said about bagels from North. The bagels must need the dirty Hudson river water to get that right sense of fluff. I got a variety of bagels here for a hungry bridal party, and thankfully had coupons to get some free cream cheese. The bagels were super soft and fresh, that three days later they were still perfect! They seem to have a variety of sandwiches and baked goods to choose from, but I’m sold just on the bagels. Prices were comparable to other bagel spots around. They have decent seating area as well. Sadly the service could use a little smile, we had an issue with our coupon and there was unnecessary attitude given and the owner/mgr just blew us off. And for me service is everything… because at the end of the day, there are a million bagel spots.

I’ve been eating Steins bagels for many years now, and I am always satisfied. They changed owners over the past year or 2, and I was skeptical it would still be good, but their quality did not go change. I am a huge bagel critic. They are literally one of my favorite things to eat. Stein’s makes bagels the way they should be-crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They also make great bagel breakfast sandwiches and wraps, and have a wide variety of drinks to choose from.
