I had hail damage and called USAA for a referral for a good roofer. After going through personal reference of several BBB roofers, we chose Campbell. The estimator was out within 24 hours and the job was scheluded within 48 hours. The work was done in a timely matter, but the company left multiple tools in my yard for a couple of weeks. It did take several times calling Campbell to remove them otherwise they would have received 5 stars.

Well to be perfectly honest, I haven’t experienced better as far as roofers are concerned but only because I’ve never needed a new roof before! Surely there’s got to be something better than this… I selected Campbell because they were the only roofers my insurance company recommended, and I generally trust my insurance company — they rock!(Thanks, USAA.) I did my due diligence and checked the guys out on BBB — they’ve been accredited since 1983 and they have an A+ ranking. So what on earth happened with my claim?! We got off to a good start — their estimator came to the house on time for our appointment(maybe 1st week of August?), and came up with an estimate that was very close to what our insurance adjuster calculated. They offered an upgraded shingle for a very reasonable price. We wondered how long until we’d be on their install schedule, and the estimator said 2 – 3 weeks from receiving the signed contract. We got our signed contract in about 4 days later. Five or six weeks later, we still hadn’t heard anything from Campbell. When I called to ask when we’d be getting our roof, they said they were nowhere near close to ordering our supplies yet, and they couldn’t schedule us until they ordered our stuff. So… we waited a few more weeks. Called again, they said they’d probably order the following week. Ultimately, they ended up coming out to install our roof during the last week of October — while we were both out of town, which I was less than thrilled about. We came home a few days later to find trash and cigarettes all over our yard, a hole in one window screen, a crushed downspout extender, and disconnected cables in the backyard for our satellite. We knew we’d have to have the satellite company come and reposition our satellite, but with the disconnected cables(which were disconnected in a place we couldn’t to) we couldn’t even watch old stuff recorded on our DVR. When we called to request a walkover with someone from Campbell, they ended up sending someone to our house to inspect without us(even though I specifically requested that we be there with them). They agreed to repair the screen and downspout, and also found some problem areas on the roof that needed caulking but said they’d come back to do that. Well, snow came early and they couldn’t caulk the areas on the roof with a snow cover, so we waited and waited and waited. Finally someone came out to the house and asked us where those specific problem areas were. Beats me, because I never got to be there for any inspection! Ultimately we waited until mid-January before they came out to resolve everything. But of course, after that we had yet one more problem. The roofers re-mounted our satellite dish after putting on the new roof, but they didn’t bother to drill it into a stud. With some strong winds in late January, our satellite dish toppled over and we had to have the sat company come out to remount and reposition the dish(and plug the old holes). I will say that their customer service people were incredibly polite, but it just doesn’t matter when they can’t communicate problems to the people who need to fix them. However, once someone actually came by the house to make the repairs, he came by several times to check whether the snow cover had cleared and then kept me informed of how things were going after that. So… props for that, but it just wasn’t enough to outweigh the hassle of the rest of the process. Next time(which better be a loooooooooong time from now) I’ll definitely be going off personal referrals!
