Brompton Grocery

Somewhere between a discount grocery store (in appearance only) and a Piggly Wiggly, this is not my ideal place to shop. However, should you find yourself in need of chocolate and dog bones at 9 p.m. in Moody, Alabama, this isn’t a bad place to stop.
Make sure you have enough tequila shots before your visit and you won’t give a second thought to how awful that fluorescent lighting makes your bloodshot eyes and flushed, open-​pored face look!
For a city girl used to the ambient (relatively speaking) lighting of Whole Foods or other such higher-​end markets, I was more than a little taken aback by the lack of design and layout, but whatever: this is Alabama and the pleasant service and good company more than make up for a little grocery store slumming it!
