I came in with a concern over a couple of things, and left lectured & ridiculed by him. I asked about melanomas being itchy, he said that’s nonsense and that they never itch. Well, according to a dozen reputable skin cancer sources, they clearly state otherwise. I also inquired about black salve, he stated it’s black due to the iodine. Well, no, it’s actually the jet-black colored bloodroot, and that iodine is only added to certain black salves since a few decades ago. So those reasons led me to suspect this 90+ y.o. Dr. wasn’t open to nor interested in present-day medical/dermatological views. Anywho, he pushed aside my main issues, and instead insisted on elective options that i didn’t want anything to do with; they were irrelevant, antiquated, and not to mention very profitable for his practice. He never officially gave my issue a proper name, so I called him to ask… not only did I have to correct him which patient he was speaking to, but he made up some informally diagnosed Latin name for which my issue had no resemblence. One insisted biopsy later, the dermatopathology lab responded saying it was something completely different than what he diagnosed… surprise, surprise. No full-body scans were made during any appt’s, which I found strange, given how they knew of my ancestry’s risks. You hear nothing but nice things about Peter and his practice, but you never hear the flipside, so here it is.

I have been a patient of Dr. Peter Koblenzer since 1982(approximately). He treated me for hand eczema one several visits and also performed a procedure to take off a skin imperfection. The quality of his care was excellent. He listened carefully to my descriptions of the trouble I was having. By chance it turned out that he had known my parents, who were both physicians. My mother was still living at that time. I asked her and she remembered both Dr. Koblenzer and his wife, who is also a dermatologist. Dr. Peter Koblenzer and Dr. Carolyn Koblenzer are both excellent doctors who care about their patients.

The following happened back in 2005. I’ve dealt with eczema on my hands since i was a child. I used to have severe outbreaks occasionally when i was younger. I would usually just deal with it as i got older and it would pass in a few days, but at the time, i was working and had insurance, so i thought i would try and get it resolved with a prescription. I was 25 at the time and I am a male. I decided to go to doctor Koblenzer because he treated someone in my family for vitiligo for years. it was my first time visiting him and needless to say my last. When he came into the room and i explained to him my condition, that i had only had eczema on my hands, nowhere else. After looking at my hands, he had me strip down to my boxer shorts and lie on his exam table face down. He proceeded to pull down my boxers enough that he could spread my buttcheeks and look at my rectum and then it was over. That whole part of the ‘exam’ lasted under a minute. He wrote me a prescription and i left. I wanted to put this out there in case there is anyone else out there that this guy has engaged in such behavior with, or god forbid, worse things, so you’d see you’re not alone. I know he has been practicing for many years, so the potential that i am not alone is probably not low.
