History of Cool Breeze Cyclery and Trek Bicycle Store Charlotte

Bruce Guild founded Cool Breeze Cyclery in 1988 after graduating from the East Coast Bicycle Academy. In the following years, he successfully developed the business into the premier bike shop in the Lake Norman region. The original bike shop, located on Main Street in downtown Mooresville, NC, began as a Raleigh bicycle dealer. In fact, Bruce’s first staff member was a yellow lab puppy named Raleigh. Throughout the first year of managing the business, Bruce fondly recalled that the majority of foot traffic through the store attributed to people making their daily puppy visits.

Over the next 10 years, Cool Breeze Cyclery continued to grow and earn its positive reputation for sales, service and bicycle fitting. Trek Bicycle Corporation honored Cool Breeze Cyclery with an award for Outstanding Retail Achievement in 1998. The business also earned the Bank of America Small Business Champion Award in 2001.
